Chapter 1423: Chapter 209 Nellie’s Trouble

"Do you... talk often?" Pannis couldn’t suppress the anxiety within his heart and asked cautiously, "What have you talked about?"

"Hahaha, Kyle, Kyle, you can actually show such an expression." Seeing the anxious and expectant look on Pannis’s face, Finche couldn’t help laughing out loud and patted Pannis on the shoulder, saying, "Don’t be nervous. When we chat, of course, we mainly talk about you. Hahaha, Lady Nellie has told us almost everything about your past experiences, starting from when you met, all the way to when she let the Soul of Danacus enter her body before you did, each and everything related to you has been retold by her several times, I’ve almost memorized it."

"You’ve only been listening for a little over twenty years." Bone Dragon Luscia lowered her massive skull and said sullenly, "I have heard her mention the name Kyle far more times than you have, Finche. By the time you started listening, I could already recite it. I’m afraid that now, my understanding of you, Kyle, definitely wouldn’t be any less than that of your friends; or to put it more strictly, I know much more about you than they do."

"No wonder you accepted me so readily, Lady Luscia." Pannis said with a wry smile, "I thought the friendship of the Drakes had become cheap, how could it be that just after we met, because of that one previous encounter, you showed me the friendship of a Guardian."

"Of course, it’s not that simple, but you were already a friend of Mina’s, already a friend of the Guardians, and I’ve heard your story from Nellie over and over again, so it was impossible for me not to recognize you," Bone Dragon Luscia shook her skull and said, "Moreover, your past deeds indeed justify the Guardians treating you as a friend. Aside from everything else, just the fact that you saved Mina’s life is enough."

"I didn’t save her." Pannis shook his head vigorously, "She’s stronger than me, how could I possibly have had the strength to save her?"

"If it weren’t for your suggestion, Mina would have had to face Danacus alone, and she couldn’t have come back alive, not to mention the likelihood of even seeing Danacus being slim," Luscia explained, "You changed her fate, and that is equivalent to saving her life."

"Alright, let’s not argue about that," Pannis waved his hand and put away his smile, "Nellie... is she alright? No, don’t answer that question, I’ll judge for myself. So, the second question, can you simply tell me about the situation of this world, or say, Nellie’s situation over the past several decades?"

"After I first awakened, I stayed with her all the time, wandering this world in my divine form," Luscia recalled, "Later on, more and more Undead were revived, the world became livelier, which should’ve matched her wishes, she should have been happy, but, it seemed something happened, around forty years ago, she suddenly became a bit peculiar and no longer wandered this world with me. Instead, she returned to this temple and was reluctant to go out."

"Forty years ago?" Pannis and the girls exchanged glances, the timing was already quite clear, this was just before Catherine’s grandfather, Merlin, and the former head of the Adventurers’ Guild set out to find the Temple of Danacus, that is to say, from this point in time, the moribund had gone through extensive preparations and finally started their formal activities. Pannis stroked his chin, slowly nodding, "That matches up with some of the timeline, but didn’t you ever ask her the reason?"

"I did ask. She said she might find herself in a troublesome situation, and to avoid that as much as possible, she had to prepare for battle fully," Luscia sighed, "Actually, by then I had realized that the soul of Danacus had begun to gradually awaken and was starting to fight for control of the Divine Body."

"Yeah, that would be the time, that’s what we speculated too," Pannis said, "the three Archbishops of Danacus escaped and started looking for the temples of Danacus in the mortal world starting a little over forty years ago. That’s also when the skeletons at the entrance began to appear in the Yarran World."

"I’m aware of their appearance," Luscia said, "Nellie told me that she could see what was happening in that world through the eyes of the Undead in the mortal world, a unique ability of the Grimreaper, but since this act has a significant impact on the Undead, she rarely did so. I have carried her gaze on my back with those two little girls, it’s just that they didn’t feel anything themselves. But this time, Nellie couldn’t care less about that, one day she said to me she had summoned some powerful Ghosts to do some things in the mortal world she couldn’t do herself. But it seems that time, she failed because for a while after, she was in a very bad mood."

"Yes, she failed," Pannis nodded, "The Temple of Danacus was found, and his main followers began trying to awaken the consciousness of their Deity."

"Knowing the importance of preparation for her, I haven’t actively disturbed her since then," Luscia continued, "Although we live together in this temple, she has kept herself sealed in Between the Rituals, rarely coming out. I was worried about her, so I simply decided to live in this main hall, just in case she needed help and couldn’t find me."

"Thank you, Luscia," Pannis bowed solemnly to the Bone Dragon and said seriously, "I’m grateful you’re helping her."

"I’m her friend; these things are what I wanted to do, so you really don’t need to thank me," Luscia shook her head, "Besides, I’ve gotten used to it, sleeping in the hall every day, and that’s almost like returning to a normal life. Don’t forget, what we Guardians like most is blanking out and sleeping."

"Heh, that’s true." Since Luscia said so, Pannis did not refute, but just kept his gratitude in mind, "What happened after that, has she needed your help with anything?"

"Not really, just occasionally in her free time, she would reach out to chat with me," Luscia said, "But the number of times was not many, and they were always brief, clearly, the pressure she was under was very great. However, thankfully, about twenty years ago, she seemed to gradually adapt to suppressing the soul of Danacus, and she began to come out more often. It was probably around that time that Finche was directly revived from the temple."

"Yes, I wasn’t revived from what they called Burial Bones Mountain, the pile of bones; I woke up near the place where I died," Finche added, "When I first awakened, I only knew I had become a Ghost, and I didn’t know anything else. Remembering the last experience of my life, I instinctively entered Between the Rituals, and then I got the scare of my life from Nellie."
