Chapter 1403: Chapter 189 Hunting Arrow
"It was said that everyone was involved, but due to the backlash from the attack, the only effective attacks were from Dillie and Mina. However, even though no one could be sure whether the others’ attacks had any effect, everyone still exerted their full strength, using their most powerful attacks, including me." Pannis’s eyes, fixated on the light, were misty, and his voice slowed down, clearly drifting back into that intense battle.
Following his thoughts, the girls seemed to witness the demigods, representing the highest combat power of the Yarran World, unleashing their full might recklessly. Double-edged battle axes could split mountains, the Bloodthirsty Dagger could pierce the shadows, the Omnipresent Longsword could sever the invisible winds, sharp lances could penetrate everything, Crystal Energy guns roared, claws howled, magical light glinted dazzlingly, and yet dark forces shrouded everything. Hidden behind all these, though, were two breaths: the battle Dragon Mina had transformed into her dragon form, soaring through the sky with her wings spread, and the scorpion-tailed lion Dillie, who had returned to his gigantic form, firmly gripping the ground with his limbs. The two most potent energies surged forth, emitting from their non-human mouths, the breath in the air carrying searing temperatures capable of melting steel, and the breath on the ground possessed a destructive power from another world.
The power of the battle dragon was truly the pinnacle of all living beings’ power. Mina’s full strike was equal in might to any of the strongest members of the Triclops, beyond Loki and Sigein. Although Dillie, the scorpion-tailed lion, had a certain gap in pure strength compared to Mina, his energy contained something not of this world, which posed even more trouble for a deity, part of the divine law, in handling than the attack of the battle dragon. Most crucially, both their attacks ignored his backlash and Divine Punishment, directly targeting his true form. Thus, what had initially been a leisurely Divine Soul finally became tense, even forced to abandon all offensive moves and defend with all his might against the frenzied onslaught of Mina and Dillie.
The glow of energy constantly flickered in the vast expanses of the Divine Kingdom; the Bone Throne had already scattered in the aftermath of the energy. The entire space was filled with ferocious energy, likely tearing apart anyone daring to be in such an environment to shreds, leaving not even a corpse behind.
In the consciousness of the girls, time seemed stretched, the entire attack process slow and clear, but in the real world, an attack launched by everyone together was actually very brief. While the glow of energy still flickered, several figures were flung from the center of light, the eight attackers each sustaining severe injuries; thrown more than ten meters away by their own power, they were covered in wounds of varying sizes and even struggled to stand again. Luckily, Maya was prepared. As her comrades were blown away, the strongest healing magic was already activated; the holy light descended from the sky, shining on everyone, bathing the injured in its glow, which rapidly healed their wounds, barely restoring their combat strength.
Despite the eight heroes being injured by their own powers, the battle was far from over because the real attack, the energy breaths from Mina and Dillie, had reached their greatest strength. Two massive beams of light, one end connected to Mina’s and Dillie’s mouths and the other end pointing directly at Danacus’s body, made Danacus’s shadow, normal in size, seem incredibly small compared to the gigantic beams of light. Yet, it was this small shadow that firmly blocked the energy-filled beams of light, preventing them from advancing even a centimeter further.
The scene surprisingly reached a stalemate, the energy from the Divine Soul and the energy from mortal beings colliding head-on for the first time in a true sense, making it difficult to distinguish the stronger from the weaker. It must be acknowledged that facing Danacus’s Divine Soul, this was the best performance the heroes had managed so far, a stark contrast to their previous desperate struggles. Now, the situation seemed almost on the brink of victory at any moment.
However, this was merely a wonderful illusion. Dillie and Mina’s sudden attack was indeed strong, but after all, it came at the cost of exhausting all their latent potential and draining all their strength. After holding on for a dozen seconds, Dillie’s breathing began faltering first. Soon after, Mina’s breathing also weakened following Dillie’s path. Danacus, who was directly confronting them, was the first to feel their weakening most palpably. Sensing the slight decrease in their energy intensity, his weakened Divine Soul immediately understood that they had no force to follow. Seizing this opportunity, the energy Danacus was countering suddenly contracted inward, then massively burst forth. The suddenly unleashed Divine Power, like tearing a sheet of paper, shattered the two powerful pillars of energy.
Danacus chose the best moment and the best response. Although Mina and Dillie, whose powers were already waning, had guessed what he intended to do when his energy suddenly drew back, they had no counterstrategy while locked in a stalemate. They could only watch as the burst of Divine Power easily destroyed their breath, and following the trail of the breath, it reversed back, slashing across tens and hundreds of meters, striking them hard and causing them to tumble, heavily bleeding, across the ground of the Divine Kingdom, continuously causing earthshaking tremors.
Yet, although their attack had failed, they didn’t care at all; rather, it’s fair to say, nobody cared about the ineffectiveness of their attack or their injuries. Everyone’s hearts were tightly clenched together, their faces full of anticipation as they watched Danacus’s position.
Because an arrow had already left the bowstring.
Though she was the Elf Queen, Flare’s combat experience was no less than others, so like Danacus, she chose the best moment. During the others’ attacks, her arrow did not shoot; while Danacus and Mina and Dillie were in a stalemate, her arrow did not shoot; even when Danacus’s energy exploded, her arrow still held back. Only when Danacus’s unusually intense burst of Divine Power ended and his energy contracted inward, the green Hunting Arrow suddenly flew from Flare’s hand, appearing directly in front of Danacus as if it had skipped the flight itself.
The delicate feathered arrow represented the authority of another chief deity, Artemis, facing the Hunting Arrow was like facing the cold eyes of Artemis himself. Although the arrow was shot by a mortal, no one dared to underestimate its power, as it was crafted by Artemis himself, capable even of killing a deity.
The expression on Danacus’s Divine Soul finally changed, becoming instantly surprised and panicked, trying to move out of the arrow’s path, but it must be said that Flare’s or perhaps Kyle’s timing was too clever. He simply could not convert his thoughts into action fast enough before the arrow had already penetrated his forehead.
