World Keeper-Chapter 1231: Until We Meet Again
Time flew by… unfortunately fast. Between Lena wrapping up her work and Lifre taking a more active role in resolving the problems that arose around the various worlds, there was little for me to worry about. I spent most of my days just reading reports or spending time with the rest of Olympus. Every now and then, I would ascend to spend some time with Terra and Irena, but it was all-in-all a pretty mundane time.
Then, finally, the day arrived. The countdown until the invasion was ticking down, and it was now less than a minute before Sanction would invade our realm for the third time. Taking a deep breath, I waited until there were less than ten seconds left, before immediately sending the command to the system to use the attack ticket. When it prompted me for who I wanted to attack, I set the target as Sanction.
There. As long as he doesn’t have a defense ticket, he shouldn’t have any time to prepare for an invasion. I thought to myself with a nod.
When it came time for me to select who I wanted to send on the invasion, I looked at the group gathered before me. Both of the Lena’s, Tsubaki, Dana, Julia, Priscilla, and Philia all stood at the ready. They had been fully equipped with the items that they had requested me to purchase, and it was now time to send them off.
“Come back safe.” I told them, and they nodded their heads. As I selected them for the invasion, an ominous blue portal swirled to life behind them. Without any hesitation, the seven all turned to leave, stepping through the gate.
I closed my eyes, silently waiting. In the worst case scenario, Sanction would use his defense ticket as soon as the invasion started, making it impossible for them to ever come back. As long as that didn’t happen, there was a chance.
Seconds ticked by into minutes, and I eventually let out a sigh of relief when no message appeared to alert me of the invasion’s failure. It’s going to feel a lot more empty around here without them.
Thinking of that, I turned to look at Lifre, offering her a small smile. “I’ll be counting on you a lot more for the near future.”
Lifre nodded her head forcefully, patting her small chest. “You got it, boss! You can count on me!”
I gave a small smile when I heard her response. Now that this invasion had really kicked off, I had some plans to make myself. There was absolutely no way that I could refund Sanction’s worlds, no matter what happened during this invasion. If I did, I would be personally eliminating the team that I had just sent over.
With that in mind, I had to prepare for how to integrate that realm with my own. The game system that they used was vastly different from ours, so I could see it causing a great deal of confusion in the long run. To smooth things out, I would need to prepare to make one of the two systems the ‘standard’ system of the realm, or find a way to merge the two.
For instance, their skill system was quite nice, far better than the skill proficiency system that I used. If Chelsea studied it, and then applied it to our system, that would only be seen as a general improvement to what we could achieve.
For that purpose, I had a small mission for Lifre, who had extracted all of the knowledge of Hal Tua from the Monarch.

Chelsea let out a long sigh, realizing that the invasion team had been sent off. On the one hand, the time bomb that was the Great One’s Map had left the realm, and would no longer be a security risk here. On the other hand, several of her friends and allies, not to mention the greatest combat powers of the Keeper’s realm, had disappeared as well.
She was preparing to have to take a more active role in the security of the realm when a notification came across her desk. “Researcher Chelsea. There is an important guest waiting for you at reception seven.”
Chelsea arched a brow, but didn’t refuse the guest. For them to be called important, it was either someone with a direct relation to the Keeper, or a world leader. Either way, she at least needed to make an appearance.
Standing up, she made her way out of her office, and through the halls of the research institute. The seventh entrance wasn’t that far from her office, and was a common area to receive guests, so it didn’t take long for her to arrive. When she got there, she was somewhat surprised to see Lifre standing there with a smile on her face.
“Hey, Chel!” Lifre waved happily. “Boss man sent me to meet you.”
Chelsea hesitated, but nodded her head, gesturing for Lifre to follow her back to her office. Naturally, the slime girl looked around at everything they passed with curious enthusiasm, her eyes practically shining. Thankfully, she didn’t ask many questions, because Chelsea wasn’t sure how to explain some of the experiments in a way that Lifre would understand.

Once they arrived at Chelsea’s office, both girls took a seat. “So, what does Dale want from me?” Chelsea asked, a somewhat tired tone to her voice. She wasn’t expecting a big project to arrive immediately after the invasion set off, especially since she knew that the Keeper had just spent the vast majority of his points to prepare for this invasion. He shouldn’t have been able to buy another big technology, and a system request could have been sent through a mental message.
“He said that he wants to prepare for when they return.” Lifre answered with that same smile. “Because we don’t know whether or not the enemy is using a time acceleration chamber, the invasion can take anywhere from five days to the entire Standard Month.”
“Right… and how does he want us to prepare?” Chelsea asked curiously, not sure exactly what Dale wanted to be done between now and then.
Lifre pulled out a thin book, holding it out for Chelsea. “This book contains all of the information on Sanction’s systems that we could gather from their inhabitants. Boss man wants you to go through and make a system merging plan. If there are systems here that would be better than our alternatives, you can write them down. Likewise, if there are systems that you think we can gain special features from when you break them down, and so on.”
Immediately, Chelsea understood, accepting the book carefully. “I see. He wants to integrate Sanction’s system with our own. Given that they’re a Rank Five Keeper, the odds are high that they’ve already optimized their own system code.” As she spoke, she opened the book, flipping through the pages.
“Their class and level system can’t be kept. It’s wholly incompatible with how we operate. Their dungeon system… I’ll need to speak with Aurivy. Maybe we can work out a way to tie it in with our own dungeon core race.”
Chelsea muttered under her breath as she looked at each system, which had an in-depth summary of how it operated, at least as in-depth as a resident of the world would be able to understand. “We definitely want their guild system, and their guild market. Those will greatly benefit us.”
After saying that, Chelsea looked up at Lifre. “However, this is all under the assumption that we’re going to win this invasion. If we d-” She was cut off by an exceptionally firm look from Lifre.
“We will win.” She said firmly, with more force in her tone than Chelsea had ever heard from the normally carefree slime. “Sanction didn’t cheat and use a defense ticket right away. As long as he doesn’t have that ticket, we will absolutely win. They promised.”
Chelsea offered a small smile, not wanting to argue with Lifre on this. In the back of her mind, she knew that there was always the risk of failure. However, there was no reason to dash Lifre’s confidence. “Right, my bad. Anyways, what does Dale want me to do with the list after I’ve made it? Obviously, we can’t get started on analyzing the systems before they are in our hands.”
Lifre’s smile quickly returned, and she nodded her head. “Right! He said that you could make frameworks for the systems, just as much as you could for now to make your work easier in the future. If there is a system that you are confident that you can recreate, go for it. Otherwise, just make the basic framework as practice, and then use that to make adjustments as needed when they return.”
Well, at least it’s not the most absurd request he’s made. Compared to that map, this is child’s play. Chelsea thought to herself, before nodding her head. “Alright. I’ll have my team get started on it, once I go through all of the systems in this book. Anything else?”
Lifre nodded her head again. “Yeah! I’ve got to visit James while I’m here, too!” She said, surprising Chelsea.
“What do you need James for?” The kitsune asked curiously. Because James was often more focused on his work, Chelsea herself was the typical liaison with those from the outside.
“Boss hopes that I can become an Origin by the time everyone gets back.” Lifre responded with a chuckle. “Other groups are starting to catch up with your Origin research, right? He’s worried that with the others gone, there won’t be a good deterrent against Origins who turn to crime. Since he’s got you working on this system list, he wants to have James be the one to work on the Origin project.”
Chelsea pursed her lips at that. While the concept made sense, she still had some concerns. “You’re a triple domain goddess, right? It won’t be easy to turn you into an Origin. We still haven’t made any significant progress in combining multiple domains.”
“Yup, that’s why I’m here!” Lifre flashed a thumbs up towards Chelsea. “This is one of my clones. I’ll be permanently stationed here to be a research subject for your experiments. If this clone dies, my main body will send another one to replace it. So, don’t worry and use me for any work you need to.”
Chelsea’s eyes widened when she heard that, looking at Lifre with concern. She was well aware of the dangers in these experiments, and the pain that the subject was likely to experience. And given how old and clever Lifre was, she had to assume that Lifre knew the same. Still, she readily accepted this role with a smile on her face. “Just so you’re aware… there is the possibility that your essence could be permanently damaged if an experiment goes wrong. You know that, right?”
Of course, most of such risky experiments would be done through an educational stream, in which the damages could be undone. However, that didn’t change the fact that even a normal experiment could cause some unforeseen side-effects, regardless of whether or not this was just a clone. At the same time, this was one of the things that had held their research back the most, not having a research subject that was wholly willing to cooperate with them.
Of course, there was Treisha, but she was understandably not eager to participate in a series of experiments that could easily lead to her death if a mistake was made. What they needed was someone that would cooperate without the slightest hesitation, able to provide them the most accurate data regardless of the risks.
Yet, Lifre merely nodded her head. “Yup, I’m aware! Whatever happens, happens. Feel free to experiment on this clone as much as you need to.”
