With Mangekyo, I Escaped Konoha To Other Worlds [Naruto/AttackOnTitan]-Chapter 27 - 24 Immune To Genjutsu
Chapter 27 - 24 Immune To Genjutsu
The Reiss Chapel,
Kenny's POV,
Today had been the strangest of days.
The operation was a bust. His men had been slaughtered. Following which, a hand emerged from solid concrete before pulling him down into It.
Definitely weird.
The world went dark as Kenny felt himself being pulled underground. Dirt filled his nostrils and mouth, choking him as he struggled against the strange attack. Pain shot through his body as he was forcibly dragged through solid earth, his lungs screaming for air.
He didn't even have time to question what was happening. Then, with a violent thrust, Kenny felt himself being ejected from the ground. He burst through the earth's surface, gasping desperately for air as he landed roughly on the grass outside the chapel.
'What the hell kind of power is that?'
As his vision cleared, the first thing he saw made him freeze. Bodies.
Scattered across the grounds outside the church building were the bodies of his men. Their blank, lifeless eyes stared up at the night sky, each killed with surgical precision.
'Dammit!'
The tangent smell of blood assaulted his nostrils as a chill enveloped him.
'They killed all of em? In just seconds.' The man thought, his face ugly and eyes filled with disbelief as he swept them across the grass.
Then stopped on a female with blonde hair laying face first on the ground.
This was none other than Caven, his second in command.
'They got you too huh?'
Her eyes were frozen wide in horror, body splayed awkwardly where she had fallen. The Ackerman looked solemn as he tried to rise to his feet, but his body protested from the trauma of being forcibly pulled through the earth.
Raising his arms, he tried to fire his grappling lines for a quick getaway. Only to discover that his equipment was damaged. The gears were jammed with earth, pieces of his ODM hanging loosely from his harness.
"Well, isn't that great." He uttered sarcastically as he brought his launcher to his face. Judging from everything he just saw, Kenny didn't need to be told he was veritably screwed.
In Truth, he had never been more spot on.
The sound of footsteps drew his attention to the chapel entrance. Two glowing red orbs shone in the darkness, and soon, the dark-haired youth emerged, his strange red eyes gleaming in the moonlight.
Kenny reached instinctively for his gun, only to find the holster empty.
"Looking for this?"The young man asked, holding up Kenny's pistol before casually tossing it aside. "Don't worry, you won't be needing it."
"Who the fuck are you?"
Kenny growled, managing to rise to a half-kneeling position, one hand reaching for his fedora that had fallen off during his underground journey yet emerged with him out of it.
"My name is Seiji Uchiha," the youth replied calmly, taking a few steps out of the chapel door into the open field. "And you're Kenny Ackerman. Captain of the Anti-Personnel Control Squad. Or should I say, the king's personal assassin?"
Kenny's eyes narrowed. The kid knew too much already.
"How in hell did you do that?" he asked, nodding toward the hole in the ground from which he'd been ejected. "That ain't normal, even for a Titan power."
"It's pretty easy, actually," Seiji replied, his tone casual as if explaining something mundane. "It's called Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu. It's just manipulation of elemental chakra nature. You see, everyone has chakra flowing through their body. At least, it's like that where I come from. The rest of you don't. As I was saying, by focusing chakra in specific pathways and using hand signs, I can transform it into elemental energy."
Kenny stared blankly at the young man, not understanding a word. Chakra? Hand signs? The boy spoke with the confidence of someone explaining basic arithmetic, yet the concepts were completely foreign.
"I have no idea what shit you're spouting."
"Meh." The boy placed his gesturing hands down and shrugged. "It's ok. I didn't actually expect you to. In fact, I'd kill you on the spot if you did."
The statement made Kenny pause. Not knowing whether to feel fortunate or not.
"So you're the one causing so much trouble, huh?" He asked, trying to probe for information while surreptitiously adjusting his position.
"Trouble? I guess you could say that." Seiji thought, placing a hand on his chin before smiling. "I do plan to cause trouble, but I've just barely started," Seiji replied with a hint of amusement. "I think you might be confusing me with someone else. Dina Fritz, perhaps? The woman who's been investigating the Reiss family."
Kenny's eyes widened slightly at the mention of the surname Fritz.
"How do you—"
"I know a lot of things, Kenny," Seiji interrupted. "Like you're the king's assassin. But that's common news where I'm from. What I want to know, is which king's assassin are you."
The Ackerman had his brows narrow deeply. That statement alone revealed so many problems. Following which, he chuckled hoarsely, his hand reaching up to adjust his fedora once it was back on his head. "I don't see why I should answer a question from someone who killed off my men. Though I can't say I'm not surprised. I felt I'd be up against someone like me. Not some seemingly underaged brat."
"Appearances can be deceiving," Seiji replied. "Just like the way Uri was so different from what you originally imagined he'd be "
Kenny's eyes widened once more. "How do you know about Uri?"
"Like I said, I know a lot of things," Seiji answered. "But there are gaps in my knowledge. Inconsistencies that shouldn't exist. And I think you might be able to help me fill them in."
Kenny studied the young man cautiously. This kid wasn't from inside the walls—that much was obvious. His powers, his knowledge, the strange red eyes... he was something else entirely. Something Kenny had never encountered before. Not to mention, the way he was being so awfully forthcoming like he was chatting with an old friend.
'Is he planning to achieve something by doing all this? Or is he simply certain he'll kill me so it doesn't matter?'
The man thought as he reached towards his boot cautiously. His movements hidden by his half kneeling posture.
"You're not from around here, are you?" Kenny asked, his hand slowly reaching for the concealed knife. "What are you after?"
"Power," Seiji replied simply. "The same power you've dreamed of possessing. The power of the Founding Titan. It's what I came here for. Though now I suspect it's not where I thought it would be."
Another statement that sent warning bells ringing through his head.
His desire for the Founding Titan's power was something few people knew about. His squad, and Rod Reiss. He hadn't revealed such a thing to anyone else.
Just how did he? ...
Kenny laughed bitterly. "And what makes you think I'd help you find it?"
"Good Question. It seems ... I don't need your help willingly,"Seiji said, his eyes shifting upward in thought. "Though it would make things easier."
'Now.'
Kenny saw his opportunity. With practiced speed, he drew the knife from his boot and hurled it directly at Seiji's face—the same technique he'd used against Uri years ago.
It hadn't worked against Uri.
But that was because the guy had been laying attention to his every move, had extreme reaction speed and absurd ....
SQUELCH!
The thought process was interrupted.
Blood splattered into the air as Kenny's eyes widened in shock.
Now standing a few feet behind him was the same figure he just attempted to hurl a weapon at, but he couldn't see it.
Instead, he stared down at the stump where his right arm had been moments before, now ending abruptly at the elbow. The fedora was gone from his head again, sliced cleanly off along with his arm.
Seiji stood behind him, sword gleaming with fresh blood, having moved with inhuman speed.
"That was predictable," Seiji said, sheathing his sword and turning around.
"I could see every micro movement you made in the process of our discussion. The tension in your shoulders as you prepared to strike ... I mean no offense but to me, your actions couldn't be any more obvious."
"Ugh."
Kenny clutched at his bleeding stump, gritting his teeth against the searing pain. Turning around hurriedly, he saw Seiji now standing right before him.
"In that case, let's just skip to me getting what I want now. Shall we."
Under Kenny's eyes, Seiji's red pupils changed into a more complex pattern. Then he lowered his body slightly and stared directly into his eyes.
'Genjutsu.'
Chakra poured from his Mangekyo Sharingan into Kenny's pupils, infiltrated his body, flew towards his cranial nerves, and dissipated without a trace.
"..."
Silence filled the atmosphere. Nothing happened.
Seeing this, Seiji raised an eyebrow.
The silence lasted for a few more seconds. Until ...
"Hehehe" Seiji chuckled once more, a smile gracing his lips as he covered half his face.
"It still didn't work huh? I thought as Much."
The boy stood upright, amidst kenny's confusion. "Two people my genjutsu doesn't work on. First Levi, and now you. Surprise surprise, you both bear the surname Ackerman, and both experienced awakening."
The smile on Seiji's face was sincere, his eyes lighting up like he just found something delightful. The last time this happened was back in Trost when he fought Levi.
Unlike last time, he had used the Mangekyo directly for genjutsu. The result? No effect.
It wasn't a struggle, or a ripple, or even meeting fierce resistance. His chakra simple vanished without a trace. Doing it for the second time, with Mangekyo, Seiji finally realized why.
His chakra never had the opportunity to even reach the cranial nerves. Instead, it had halted at some kind of metaphysical barrier and immediately disappeared. Better still, he could see what that wall was.
Energy.
Inside the cells of Kenny Ackerman, each and every single one was pulsing with a strange energy Seiji had literally only seen once.
It was the same power that Dina Fritz briefly exhibited when she attempted to transform into a Titan. This was the power of the Titans, always, constantly active.
Why has he been wasting his time chatting with Kenny? Because he had been observing him with his Sharingan since the very beginning.
Only when he activated the Mangekyo did he see it. The reason why it failed was because his chakra never got far enough to even have any effect. Confirming what he suspected. The Ackerman's were immune to genjutsu.
