Chapter 1030: Subduing the Red Moon

The moment Xiao Nanfeng dragged the Superior into the Divine Seal of Dazheng, the three women left the internal space. Then, Xiao Nanfeng immediately shut the entrance, isolating the golden tree and the nine-colored tree outside.

The Superior, eager to obtain the primordial energy he had seen within the space, looked around earnestly.

"Where's all the primordial energy?!" the Superior exclaimed.

The gray fog that had once covered the interior of the space had all vanished. All that was left were dozens of golden formations on the ground that seemed to be obscuring something while illuminating the rest of the space.

There had been a thick layer of purple mist that Xiao Nanfeng couldn't immediately absorb into his inner world. He knew that it was likely some kind of supreme treasure and had set up these arrays to obscure it. However, just one such formation would have failed to serve its intended purpose, so he had created dozens as decoys to confuse the Superior.

"I've naturally used up that primordial energy. You didn't think I'd just lead you to it, did you?" Xiao Nanfeng sneered.

The Superior roared, "You liar!"

"Liar? You can hardly compare me to you. You deceived me for years and even stole my body. Today, I'm taking back everything that's mine," Xiao Nanfeng replied coldly.

He charged toward the Superior.

"You're asking to die!" the Superior roared.

Their fists collided in a massive explosion of flames as the two began to fight fiercely once more.

Though the Superior was still injured, the body he had stolen from Xiao Nanfeng was incredibly powerful. Even though Xiao Nanfeng was a late-stage Deific Yin cultivator, he was struggling to keep up.

"Is this all you've got? Do you think you can fight me in such a state?" the Superior demanded.

"It's just the beginning. Why are you in such a hurry?" Xiao Nanfeng replied.

The two cultivators fought violently. The Superior even summoned his ten golden crows, making it even harder for Xiao Nanfeng to take action.

However, Xiao Nanfeng was able to use his candleflame powers to teleport and evade the Superior's deadly attacks.

There was no spiritual aether in this space, so all their energy was being drained as they fought, without any possible replenishment. Healing from wounds was also extremely difficult.

"Stop running away, you brat!" the Superior roared.

"How can I exhaust you to death otherwise?" Xiao Nanfeng retorted.

With a snort, the Superior threw a punch into the void as he attempted to shatter the space and escape—but Xiao Nanfeng had no intention of letting him succeed. He instantly appeared behind the Superior and launched a sneak attack at him.

Xiao Nanfeng said coldly, "Don't try to escape. Since you're here, let's settle this once and for all."

"You? Your strength is inferior to mine. You'll be drained of energy first," the Superior said, sneering.

"You're simply taking advantage of my physical body—but here, you can't draw on your world of the heart."

"And?"

"More accurately, your world of the heart has merged with the white life hidden realm. You might have a Deific Yin realm, but your world of the heart is inaccessible to you here."

"And so what?"

"So that's my advantage, you see." Xiao Nanfeng smiled.

As he spoke, three moons, red, blue, and purple, appeared faintly in the sky behind him. Moonlight shone down toward his body, collecting the excess spiritual power that Xiao Nanfeng had emitted during the battle and channeling it back into his body.

"I can endlessly cycle my strength under the moonlight, but yours will only diminish over time."

"Dream on!" the Superior declared.

His ten golden crows soared into the sky and tried to grab ahold of the three moons, only to pass right through them.

"You hid your three moons within your world of the heart? Have you merged it with your Deific Yin realm? How can that be? You've barely been cultivating for any time at all!"

"Why, I have to thank you for it. You helped strengthen my world of the heart greatly with your golden tree. That's the only reason I succeeded." Xiao Nanfeng smiled.

The Superior was furious. "I don't believe it. I'm sure you're still expending more energy than I am. Die!"

The two cultivators continued to fight fiercely.

Although Xiao Nanfeng's energy was being recycled by his three moons, he was steadily depleting energy, albeit slowly. Even so, the Superior's was being drained more quickly.

After ten long days, the Superior's physical strength was nearly exhausted. His ten golden crows had returned to his dantian, too weak to continue fighting.

Only then did the Superior give up on his physical body and transform into his yin body.

As he did so, a powerful spiritual aura radiated from him. With a wave of his hand, he stored Xiao Nanfeng's body within his mindscape. A silver moon flew out from within.

The Superior activated his Deific Yin realm, sending moonlight pouring into the space.

"Let's continue!" the Superior said coldly, charging toward Xiao Nanfeng.

Xiao Nanfeng immediately activated his candleflame powers and threw a punch at his silver moon.

"I'll kill you!" the Superior roared, dashing into the air.

His silver moon opened its mouth wide and bit at Xiao Nanfeng.

Xiao Nanfeng's fist collided with the moon in a massive shockwave that forced it back, a crack marring its surface.

At the same time, the Superior arrived and threw a punch at him. Xiao Nanfeng barely managed to block, but was sent flying.

After all, Xiao Nanfeng's yin body wasn't at its peak, and he was no match for the Superior's just yet.

Even so, the Superior didn't dare pursue Xiao Nanfeng. He guarded his silver moon, worried that Xiao Nanfeng would launch another sneak attack at it.

He was deeply frustrated. If he didn't unleash his Deific Yin realm, his spiritual body would soon be exhausted like his physical one. But if he did so, Xiao Nanfeng could easily attack his silver moon. If his silver moon were destroyed, the resulting backlash would be devastating.

"Come on, Superior! What are you doing? Why aren't you moving? Are you scared?" Xiao Nanfeng challenged.

The Superior cursed inwardly. Xiao Nanfeng knew exactly why he had to guard his silver moon. Did Xiao Nanfeng think that he was an idiot?

Xiao Nanfeng didn't want to give the Superior any time to rest. When his provocation didn't work, he frowned and charged forward again.

"Die!" the Superior roared, throwing a punch at him.

Their two fists collided. Xiao Nanfeng was forced back again.

The Superior miniaturized his silver moon and had it float behind his head. This transformation also shrank the size of his Deific Yin realm as a result. Then, with his silver moon safely ensconced behind him, he shot toward Xiao Nanfeng again.

"I might not be able to reclaim all my spiritual power like this, but it'll be enough to take you down. Die!" the Superior roared.

The two cultivators continued to fight fiercely.

Xiao Nanfeng might be at a disadvantage, but the Superior's spiritual power was still depleting more quickly than his own. After another day of fighting, both of them began to feel restless. Neither was confident of eventual victory.

Though Xiao Nanfeng was anxious, he was also relieved. He and the Superior had reached a stalemate, but he still had one last trick up his sleeve.

There was yet a reserve of spiritual power within his world of the heart, which the giant nine-colored tree had produced after consuming the carcasses of the white-furred monsters. This was likely the remnants of the Superior's spiritual power, as pure as could be.

He had been preparing to study this spiritual power fully before ingesting it, but the current situation didn't allow him that luxury.

As he fought, he manipulated his inner world to channel a portion of that spiritual power into his red moon, hoping that it would be able to refine it and convert it into spiritual power that he could use.

The red moon suddenly began shining with dazzling light, surpassing the other two moons in brightness. Even the Superior couldn't help but look up.

He narrowed his eyes. "Are you trying to subdue your red moon?"

Xiao Nanfeng snorted, not bothering to explain himself.

The Superior scoffed. "You barely have enough spiritual power to fight with, but you're still diverting energy for something so useless at this juncture. Do you think you can use it against me? Dream on! Your spiritual power is hardly enough for such a feat."

The Superior laughed out loud as he charged at Xiao Nanfeng.

But Xiao Nanfeng frowned. He hadn't been intending to subdue the red moon at this moment, but the Superior's confident attitude gave him an idea.

Why was he so sure that Xiao Nanfeng was trying to subdue his red moon? There was only one explanation: the Superior's control over the red moon was weakening. He was gradually losing his connection to it.

Xiao Nanfeng's heart skipped a beat. He focused on the red moon and indeed found that his control over it was increasing. The red moon's resistance was being suppressed. He truly seemed to be close to subduing it.

He kept his expression neutral, trying to hide his surprise even as he continued to fight the Superior while using more of the white spiritual power to subdue the red moon. He even stopped the red moon from converting any excess to him.

Several more days passed.

With a loud boom, his red moon suddenly expanded, emitting a blinding light as some black energy from its core shattered and was released.

"Impossible! How did you do it?!" the Superior roared in shock.

He had completely lost his connection to the red moon, which was now fully under Xiao Nanfeng's control.

In an instant, bright red light shone down on Xiao Nanfeng, causing his body to tremble as his power surged.

"It does work!" Xiao Nanfeng exclaimed in delight.

Without any hesitation, he secretly channeled the remaining spiritual power into his purple moon.

"The three Qing Grandmasters were able to subdue their three moons because they had many people in the green knoll hidden realm practicing the Body of Yin. That was how they finally managed to distill my spiritual power and wipe away the traces I left behind on their three moons. How could you have subdued the red moon without my spiritual power? Impossible!" the Superior shouted. The next moment, he blanched. "No—you've been collecting the white-furred monster carcasses for a month. Was this your plan all along?!"
