Chapter 1438: Section 1439 Ivan the Wizard
By this point, Angel had largely understood the meaning of Frost’s words to Isabel.
“The apparition of the door will disappear, but that door itself should not vanish,” Angel replied.
“That door? Do you mean the only one that doesn’t have a matching pair?” Isabel looked at Angel with suspicion. “Why?”
“The other doors are just apparitions, and apparitions will surely disperse one day. As for that door, unless something unexpected happens, it should not be an apparition,” Angel replied.
“If it’s not an apparition, then what could it be?”
Angel didn’t answer immediately but pondered for a moment before saying, “Regarding that door, I myself have some doubts. Once I have figured it out, I’ll tell you right away.”
Isabel looked intently at Angel before ultimately nodding, “Alright then.”
Before leaving, Isabel said to Angel, “I have some matters I’d like to discuss with you, but now is not the time. I’ll come to you next time.”
Angel nodded in agreement. Before his chat with Frost, Isabel had mentioned wanting to discuss something with him, but no one had expected that Angel’s conversation with Frost would be interrupted by such an incident.
After Isabel left, Angel noticed that Kimberly and Isabella also departed from the Ghost Ship in the sky outside the dome.
When Kimberly left, she mouthed “congratulations” to Angel.
Isabella, however, left with an emotionless face, her head bowed as she quickly passed by.
With the departure of these Witches, the Ghost Ship in the sky slowly sailed off into the distance. As the Ghost Ship departed, a speck of light fell from the ship, ultimately turning into a letter that landed in Angel’s hands.
Angel opened the letter to find it was a congratulatory message, extending well-wishes for his advancement and expressing hope that Angel could visit Silent Hill when he had the time to discuss and exchange views.
Signed below was: Ivan.
“Wizard Ivan is an old Wizard from Silent Hill and earlier, the captain of the Ghost Ship was him,” Sanders paused, “He’s a Wizard from the Academy Faction with a decent reputation. Now that you have entered the circle of Official Wizards, you’ll need some connections, and he would be a good person to know. You can choose to visit him or not.”
“I will consider it seriously,” Angel said as he put away the letter, glancing in the direction of the Ghost Ship in the sky.
It was an instinctive action, yet he caught sight of Falga, cloaked in black, watching him from afar at the ship’s stern railing.
Angel paused for a moment, then nodded at Falga in acknowledgment.
But Falga stumbled, almost falling over the ship’s edge.
Seemingly embarrassed, Falga lowered his head and quickly disappeared from sight.
“Let’s go back. After your advancement, there should be many matters you need to take care of.” These matters didn’t just involve Angel himself but also the aftershocks brought about by the advancement.
Angel nodded, “Okay, but before we go back, I’d like to take a look at that door in the Void.”
Sanders looked deeply at Angel and nodded. He could sense that Angel seemed to know some truth about that unopenable and unmatched door.
Indeed, Sanders himself was very curious – what significance did the existence of that door hold?
As Sanders was about to tear open a rift to the Void, a void-like white light reflected overhead at that moment.
With the emergence of the white light, a roaring sound came from the distance.
Angel looked up and saw that the lonely moon in the distant night sky had been obscured by a gigantic eye.
The white light from before was emitted by the scarlet pupil of this colossal eye, targeting the Ghost Ship still cruising in the sky.
“Cerberus?” Angel, looking at this giant eye, surprise flickering in his own.
He had encountered the undead of Cerberus in the Corpse Forest, and now he unexpectedly saw Cerberus itself?
He knew Cerberus was a creature from the intermediate world, but he was curious why it would attack the Ghost Ship.
While Angel was puzzled, chaos erupted atop the Ghost Ship.
The Ghost Ship was a powerful vessel that combined defense, offense, and mobility. Although Cerberus was immensely powerful, it did not deploy its actual body, and a single eye alone could not shake the Ghost Ship.
However, the unlucky part was that Cerberus launched its attack precisely when the Ghost Ship’s defenses were down.
Due to Angel’s recent spell-creation, the World Will had descended, and the Apprentices on board were so oppressed by it that they could barely move. To avoid serious harm to the Apprentices, potentially damaging their foundations, Wizard Ivan had deactivated the ship’s defense shield.
Once Angel completed creating the spell, Ivan, looking to conserve energy, went ahead and withdrew the defense shield.
Just after the shield was turned off, it entered a brief reconnection phase, requiring some time before it could be reactivated. This period was when the Ghost Ship was undefended, and Ivan did not expect they would be attacked during this interval. However, reality harshly proved him wrong.
Cerberus emerged from nowhere and initiated an attack on the Ghost Ship.
Following a resounding boom, a hole was blown into the deck of the Ghost Ship.
Screams of agony and cries of distress immediately filled the air. Turning back, Ivan saw the deck drenched in crimson blood, and the Apprentices who had been there were all more or less affected.
A quick glance failed to reveal how many were injured or dead.
But judging by the bloodshed, the situation was not promising.
“Just at this time!” Wizard Ivan’s expression was somewhat grim, as the defensive barrier was still in the preparation stage, and reactivating it would take at least a minute.
A minute might seem short, but for a magical creature of Cerberus’s caliber, a mere moment was all it would take to inflict near-destructive damage to the Ghost Ship in the sky.
The only option now was to push the Ghost Ship’s speed to the maximum in an attempt to buy time, dragging it out until the defensive barrier could be reactivated and possibly escape the danger.
With this in mind, Wizard Ivan immediately shouted, “Falga, take the helm and push the speed to the max, fly towards the Miye direction!”
Falga, overwhelmed by the sudden turn of events, hurried to the control room upon hearing Ivan’s call.
Meanwhile, from within the crimson pupils of Cerberus, a ray washed with white light was released once more, targeting the Ghost Ship in the sky.
At that moment, Falga’s voice carried over from the control room, “It’s no good, we can’t accelerate; it seems like Cerberus’s previous attack affected some of the mechanical operations!”
It was like a leaky house encountering continuous rain through the night, which quite described the current situation.
Ivan cursed under his breath and flew into mid-air, quickly rubbing the ring on his index finger, and a massive light shield instantly enveloped the entire Ghost Ship.
Boom——
The white light ray collided with the light shield, and after a tremendous noise, the ray was diffused, but there were cracks appearing on the light shield.
This was only an intermediate-ranked Alchemy defense artifact. If it covered just one person, it would be able to withstand many attacks. But now, as Ivan had to protect the entire Ghost Ship, it would likely shatter after one more attack.
Just as Ivan had this thought, the second ray struck the light shield.
The light shield not only shattered on impact but the tremendous recoil also made the Ghost Ship tremble violently. Several apprentices were thrown out.
For those who were already injured, it was adding insult to injury.
Even Falga in the control room was battered and bruised, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood.
Falga staggered to his feet, looking out from the control room, he saw Cerberus’s huge pupils gathering white light once again!

Ivan’s voice came just in time, “We might need to prepare to abandon the ship.”
Hearing this, a surge of fear struck Falga’s heart. Could the Ghost Ship really fall today?
While the apprentices were in despair and fear, the white light in Cerberus’s pupils slowly dissipated.
Moreover, Cerberus seemed to undergo a change of heart, as the violence in its crimson eyes gradually vanished. At the same time, it slowly turned around and drifted towards the distant depths of the night.
In an instant, the massive figure had disappeared.
This anticlimactic scene left Falga momentarily stunned.
What happened? Why did Cerberus leave just like that?
All the apprentices were filled with this same question.
While they were puzzled, Ivan suddenly addressed someone in a certain direction, “Thank you, Wizard Pat, for your help.”
Wizard Pat? Falga hesitated for a moment, then followed Ivan’s gaze, but to where Cerberus had previously been, there was now a tall figure standing.
That figure was surrounded by rings of misty illusions.
A complex emotion flickered in Falga’s eyes; this so-called “Wizard Pat” was none other than—
Angel.
Falga then remembered the claim that Cerberus’s resistance to illusion techniques was much lower than that of other attributes. Being from the Illusion Series, perhaps it was Angel who had used an illusion technique to confuse Cerberus, which was why Cerberus had departed?
As Falga pondered, Wizard Ivan and Angel had already started conversing in mid-air.
What they talked about, Falga did not know.
But watching Angel converse fluidly with Wizard Ivan, and seeing Ivan’s face express unprecedented delight, made the proud piece of Falga’s heart reserved for not acknowledging Angel gradually diminish.
Before, Falga had been in a state of disbelief about Angel’s promotion.
Only now did he finally come to a clear realization.
Even if Cerberus had low resistance to illusions, fooling it was not something an apprentice could accomplish. Angel had done it with ease, and from the looks of it, quite effortlessly, proving one thing: his powers really had changed from what they once were.
Reality is often so cruel.
When an immense gap in power hierarchy emerges, no amount of defiance can withstand the crushing disappointment of reality.
The little pride Falga held in his heart was truly crumbled at that moment.
Whether this was good or bad for him, only time would tell.
But at least for now, Falga’s heart was heavy.
