Vergil Is Back-Chapter 41 - 32: The Dragon in the Fire
Chapter 41 - 32: The Dragon in the Fire
Location: Inner Chamber, Temple of Black Flame
The chamber shook as if the mountain itself was groaning.
From beneath the shattered altar, molten stone peeled away like cracking scales. The corrupted flame boiled into a colossal form—serpentine, skeletal wings of lava stretched wide, its eyes like twin furnaces, burning through reality.
"You are not Vritra," the entity hissed, "but I smell him on you... and something worse."
Leon narrowed his eyes, aura flaring.
His Sacred Gear snapped to life—dark armor covering one arm like a coiled dragon forged in voidlight, pulsing with both Ddraig's might and Vritra's hate. His coat flared open, eyes glowing with intensity.
"I'm his heir. Not his puppet."
With a sudden roar, the Flame Aspect lunged—lava dripping from its fangs, claws carving burning trenches into the stone.
Leon vanished—flash step—and reappeared above, blade drawn.
Yamato's edge sang.
SHRAAAANG!
He struck.
The creature twisted, catching his blade with a claw—but not fast enough. A burst of compressed spatial energy detonated at the point of contact, blasting both apart across the chamber.
Leon skidded across the floor, boots sparking.
The Aspect screamed, fire licking at its exposed ribs.
"YOU DO NOT DESERVE MY POWER!"
Leon's Devil Trigger began to ripple beneath his skin—his silver hair lengthened slightly, glowing with white-blue edges. Shadows flickered across his back—not wings, but voidfire tendrils, pulsing with dimensional energy.
His Sacred Gear's voice echoed in his mind:
"Your will is strong enough... consume it."
Leon didn't hesitate.
He charged, sliding beneath a burst of flame, leaping over another, and plunged his hand into the Aspect's core. His dragon-arm roared with energy as black flames spiraled around him.
"Come back to me," he whispered. "You're not a god. You're part of something greater."
The Aspect convulsed—screaming, resisting—
—and then stilled.
Its molten eyes dimmed.
The temple exploded in light.
Moments Later...
Leon stood in the center of the ruined chamber.

The third Vritra Fragment now rested inside his body—tamed, no longer corrupted. His Sacred Gear gleamed with new lines, flickering between obsidian-black and gold. The flame had changed, refined—no longer just destructive, but binding, adaptive.
He clenched his fist. "One more piece..."
But the moment of calm was short.
Far away—across realms—a pulse of magic shot into the air like a beacon.
And somewhere in the Underworld, Sirzechs Lucifer and Azazel paused, eyes narrowing at the flare of power.
