Chapter 72 -67 Peace Part 1
The mountain wind blew violently.
Standing at the edge of the highway, Lu Qianqian looked down from her high vantage point at the situation below.
Suddenly, a gentle and melodious piano tune came from her. Lu Qianqian took out her phone and immediately her tears couldn’t be stopped.
“Dad….”
“It’s okay, Qianqian,” Lu Jun’s voice came from the phone.
The girl stood by the road, her long hair constantly being blown to the right by the wind.
Down on the highway.
Lin Fei’s expression remained calm as he drew the Longsword Ring. A blue radiance slowly converged around his body.
The sound of an approaching engine grew rapidly, and a black sedan came to a halt beside Lin Fei. Inside the car, Xiao Ling kept her head down with a look of guilt.
Lin Fei walked over and opened the car door.
“Sorry, President. I…”
“It’s okay,” Lin Fei said with a gentle smile. “Let’s talk about it when we get back.”
“Yes.”
*****************
In a white room, a white hospital bed was placed in the middle, with a white cubic bedside table beside it. A vase sat on top, filled with white orchids.
Lin Fei lay half-reclining on the bed, with the Black Longsword hanging on the wall behind him. Numerous white bandages covered his entire body. Even the left side of his face had a large piece.
His mother, Jiang Feng, sat beside him, concentrated on peeling an apple for him.
“Mom, that’s enough. I’ve already eaten several apples,” Lin Fei said with a wry smile.
“Eating more fruit is good for your recovery. You, my child…sigh,” Jiang Feng said, giving Lin Fei a pained look. “Luckily, it was just a superficial injury, or else….”
“It’s just my bad luck to be involved in a car explosion even when walking. Fortunately, I was far enough away, just got grazed by the fire.”
“Your dad and I were nearly scared to death when we heard the news. Just after your sister got hospitalized from falling down the stairs, you followed right in,” Jiang Feng said as she threw away the apple peel.
“Lin You was hospitalized too?” Lin Fei was startled.
“Yeah, she’s in this hospital too. Being close makes it easier to take care of both of you.” As Jiang Feng was speaking, the door opened with a click. Lin You entered, wearing a patient’s gown with white patches on her shoulder and forehead, holding a small black cat in her arms.
“How come Lin Fei ended up in the hospital too?” Lin You asked. “He didn’t injure himself on purpose to skip classes, did he?”
“Well, I may not be great at studying, but I wouldn’t torture myself like that,” Lin Fei responded with a shrug.
Lin You was taken aback. In her memory, whenever she made sarcastic remarks to Lin Fei, he had always instantly responded with a sharp retort. She never imagined he would be so easy to talk to now or rather, so good-tempered.
She quickly approached the bed, looking Lin Fei over from all angles.

“What are you looking at?” Lin Fei asked, perplexed.
“Your brain must be damaged,” Lin You asserted.
“You child, what nonsense are you speaking!” Jiang Feng scolded, pulling Lin You over to her side.
Lin You chuckled and stuck out her tongue, deciding to keep quiet. The small black cat in her arms, however, jumped silently onto the bed.
“Take your cat out of here. Don’t you know pets are not allowed in the hospital?” Jiang Feng said as she gently picked up the kitten.
“It’s all right,” Lin Fei said with a soft smile, reaching out to take the black cat. “After this incident, having escaped a great danger, I’ve come to see many things more openly. I feel like I used to act like a child, very immature.”
As he gently placed the black cat in his arms and stroked its soft fur, Lin Fei’s eyes were filled with tenderness and warmth.
Jiang Feng and Lin You both stood to the side, staring blankly at Lin Fei’s unusually gentle demeanor. It was Jiang Feng who snapped out of it first.
“One who survives a great disaster is destined for future happiness. If you really have become sensible, Fei, that would be wonderful. Your father and I would have much less to worry about.”
“I have, Mom.”
“What are you yelling for, do you think I’m that old?” Jiang Feng reached out to give Lin Fei a smack on the head, but seeing the bandages, she restrained herself. “Alright, I still have classes to teach, Lin You, keep your brother company for a little bit then head back to your own ward.”
“Okay.. okay.” Lin You, watching the cat comfortably nestled in Lin Fei’s arms, responded absentmindedly.
Jiang Feng shook her head, picked up her handbag, and left the ward.
Once their mother had left, silence immediately fell upon the ward. Only the occasional footsteps could be heard in the corridor outside.
After a moment of silence, Lin Fei turned his head to glance at the thickly drawn curtains of the window.
“Lin You, could you pull the curtains open for me?”
Lin You was ready to outright refuse.
“Meow~~~” The little black cat let out a lazy, contented meow.
Lin You’s face turned red, enveloped in an abnormal warmth and comfort, as if a warm hand was gently stroking her back. A sense of contentment welled up from the bottom of her heart.
“Okay… okay.” No sooner had she spoken than she couldn’t believe she had agreed to Lin Fei’s request so easily. She suddenly covered her mouth, her face full of astonishment.
“Whoosh…” The white curtains were swiftly drawn open, and the morning’s sunlight, bright and with just a hint of warmth, filled the room.
Lin Fei smiled at Lin You, speaking in an almost reflective tone, “From childhood, we’ve always been at odds with each other. But now it seems, all of that… is meaningless…”
The silence lingered for a while as neither seemed to know what to say next, and Lin You’s face became slightly red.
“Stop pretending!!” Lin You suddenly yelled. “Let’s go! Little Miao!” She turned and scurried out of the room.
The little cat in Lin Fei’s arms flicked its tail and gently licked Lin Fei’s fingers before hopping down from the bed and chasing after Lin You out of the ward.
“Click.” The door of the ward closed automatically with the help of its spring.
Lin Fei turned his face and looked out of the bright window. The sky was as pure as crystal, a flawless shade of blue.
“Knock knock knock.” A rhythmic knocking at the door was heard.
“Come in.”
Lu Jun was still in a pristine white suit, immaculately groomed as he walked over to the bedside and set down a bag of fruit.
“President…”
“Call me Lin Fei,” Lin Fei turned around, speaking calmly. “There are some things that it’s better not to let the family know about too soon.”
“We can provide you with the identity of a Rainbow Group board director.”
“How would you explain its origin?”
“Or perhaps an identity subordinate to the National Security Department?”
“There’s no need to worry them. Has Old Master Zhao recovered?”
“Yes, he’s almost back to normal. He was just too depleted of energy.”
“I suppose Old Zhao wouldn’t refuse to have me as an adopted son?” Lin Fei smiled.
Lu Jun was startled, then promptly caught on.
“That shouldn’t be a problem. By the way, An Ying and the others have all come over. The situation escalated too quickly last time; our people hadn’t even finished assembling before the fight broke out.”
“Yes, I know. I actually want to meet them. Even our regional headquarters was taken down this time. It seems that Shueisha doesn’t hold much sway internationally.”
“Indeed. As a national organization of the Inner World, if we were really that strong, would the Tower of Glory and the Tower of the Dark Night be able to act so brazenly? Our organization’s strongest members are currently being thwarted by the people from the Tower of the Dark Night. Not to mention a small city-level branch, even provincial branches have been taken down before. To those people, we’re nothing more than a joke, a rabble gathered together,” Lu Jun said with a hint of sadness on his face.
“It’s that bad… As part of the national machinery, there must be specific reasons, right?” Lin Fei pondered.
“Yes, the struggle between the Supernatural Faction and the Religious Faction has been going on for over a thousand years, never ceasing, from the times of witches and wizards against the Holy See, demons against tribunals, to the present-day supernatural and religious. The nation has to rely on the Supernatural Faction to counter the Religious Faction. The national powers of the Inner World in Hua Nation were crushed by foreign forces in the late Qing era. Now what we have is a newly established organization, both in terms of heritage and power significantly inferior to other nations and organizations.”
“What’s the highest Combat Power level in our organization?” Lin Fei suddenly asked.
“Level B…” Lu Jun looked down dejectedly. “If it weren’t so, who would dare to be so rampant on our nation’s soil?”
“I see. I’ve got a rough idea of the situation now,” Lin Fei fell silent, no longer speaking.
