Chapter 75: Shut up, you homewrecker!

I waited for Jin-Yeok’s response, hoping he would clear the misunderstanding because I couldn’t interfere. I would only be making things worse and she just might yell at me.

But then, when Jin-Yeok did open his mouth, he first sighed, glanced around at the eyes on us, and then at me.

I had my lips pursed, my hands holding each other and my gaze on the floor. He saw this and thought I was uncomfortable so he opened his mouth once more and decided to respond to her.

"Su-Yeon, can you leave it at that for now? I’ll talk to you about it later." He said. "For now, just leave us." Huh? Why was he dismissing it like that? Where was the warmth and affection he was meant to show her? "You’re putting Jo-Pil on the spot."

Wait, what? Me? She’s putting me on the spot? Excuse me, sir, I believe you’re the one doing that.

"It’s not enough that you called him a breeder to his face but you’re also making a scene. It’s too much."

Why was he being so mean to her? It was as if he didn’t care about her feelings at all.

"What do you mean by that, Jin?" Su-Yeon, who couldn’t understand his response, asked. "Are you telling me to leave just so that things can be comfortable? I deserve to know why you’re going this far with your breeder?"

Jin-Yeok’s face immediately turned grim and his eyebrows furrowed. The smile on his lips turned cold and heartless as he gazed at his girlfriend.

As much as he tried to keep up his soft appearance, it felt like he couldn’t tolerate things any longer.

"Don’t call him that," he said. "Don’t call him a ’thing’ or a breeder. He’s a human being and he has a name. So, treat him like one."

His words suddenly made me realize the words he said to me. He said,

To think he was going to uphold them, even in the face of his girlfriend whom he loved so much.

Was I interfering too much? I wondered.

But this won’t do. Su-Yeon was trembling in anger and confusion and Jin-Yeok wasn’t planning on sweet talking either, so it would fester a misunderstanding.

So, I decided to speak up.

"I’m sorry. I don’t know who you are, and we’re just meeting for the first time today, but it looks like you have a close relationship with my master. Please don’t misunderstand. The only reason we got out is because I begged Master to take me out of the house." I said.

Well, it wasn’t all a lie. I didn’t beg him, and he suggested it, but I felt if I said this, she would not doubt him too much.

But of course, it backfired.

"Shut up, you homewrecker!" She slammed at me and I immediately sealed my lips. See, I told you she would yell at me and the accusation hit hard.

I should’ve just minded my business to begin with.

"You have no say in this. I assure you, whatever you’re planning won’t work. Jin is mine and you can’t have him."

Okay, so you know no scheme will work, so why are you being so stubbornly insecure? It almost feels like a disease.

"At the very least, the only thing you’re good for is bearing children, so don’t think just because my Jin is kind, you’ll be able to start something with him. You have no idea who he really is and he would never be moved by the likes of you."

Your Jin seems to be the one who is subconsciously trying to start something with me though. But why did it feel like she was hinting about his ’other’ identity? Whatever, she was just a jealous girlfriend right now and words won’t get to her.

"I never said that," I said. "I have no intentions. I’m just... Trying to live."

"Don’t start acting pathetic and pitiful." She spat out hatefully. "It makes me sick knowing all you’re good for is spreading your legs."

Technically, I haven’t spread my legs for anyone yet but I’ll take it that she despises me whether I’ve done the deed or not.

Jin-Yeok did not take her words lightly this time and his smile fell. He frowned.

"Su-Yeon, why are you accusing Jo-Pil of such a thing when he was only trying to explain things to you?" Jin-Yeok asked, sounding extremely displeased. "You’re trying so hard to spell it out that he’s not fit to be described as a human and it’s getting on my nerves. I never knew you could be so unreasonable."

"Unreasonable?" She gasped in shock. "I’m being unreasonable? You’re the heartless one for disregarding my feelings and going off to take a breeder. And you say ’I’ am the one being unreasonable."

"Don’t speak like we didn’t talk about this." Jin-Yeok said. "I know it’s hurting you and that’s why I gave you my word. But it seems you don’t even trust me." He said and she looked away, stubbornly folding her arms.

This lady looked like she was hurt.

Jin-Yeok, just what are you doing?

Things were getting messier, and the worst part was that the food was already here, and I was starving.

When can we wrap up this drama?

"Haa, why do I get the feeling that you actually followed me all the way here just to see what I’ve been up to." He said and I nearly gasped.

Oh my, was it the issue of trust now?

"Don’t say stuff like that. This was all a coincidence," she claimed.

Okay, so this lover’s quarrel was taking another step and I could not beat to look away from the food that was yet to be uncovered.

The dishes had filled the table, and while most of them were covered, there were some of the side dishes that were already open.

If this goes on any longer... I gulped down as I salivated... Then the food would definitely get cold.

"Enough," Jin-Yeok said and turned around. "I’ll only continue this conversation when I’m less busy." He said. "Jo-Pil is hungry and arguing more with you will only get the foot cold."

Great, they’re done.

Su-Yeon stood there, transfixed. In the end, Jin-Yeok chose to please me instead of her. Just because he noticed how I was staring at the food and salivating, he decided to dismiss their argument and leave Su-Yeon be.

If this was not a clear declaration that I was more important to him than she was then I don’t know what is.

I sat down without wasting any more time but then glanced back at her to see her glaring daggers at me.

"Jin-Yeok, are you serious right now?" She asked and Jin-Yeok sighed.

"Jo-Pil," he called out to me, smiling again, and asked, "Should we just go someplace else?"

Oh man, I don’t understand what’s going on, but it seemed to me like Jin-Yeok, who was supposed to be madly in love with Su-Yeon to the point he hated Jo-Pil’s existence, was no longer existing.

And the Jin-Yeok in front of me was a completely different person.

Just... What happened? What kind of change did I make that even his heart moved from Su-Yeon so easily?
