Chapter 202: More Problems

Royal Palace, Elyse’s Chamber.

King Aldric was currently talking with Elyse at the table.

She wanted Ren to die as quickly as possible, so she informed King Aldric about what had happened to Major Melvin and the others.

"What?!" King Aldric failed to control his emotions.

He had sent fifty powerful awakeners to help Xander and Joshua. He had even sent Major Melvin to be the commander, so he was stunned by the news.

"Not only that, but Ren also took my deceased brother’s city." Elyse grabbed his hands and wore a sad face. "Your Majesty, please help me take revenge. I want him dead! I want Nightshire City to disappear!"

King Aldric’s expression returned to calm, but a terrifying sharpness gleamed in his eyes.

’How dare he kill my soldiers!’

He began thinking of the best way to punish Ren and Nightshire City.

His lips curled up into a smirk when an excellent idea popped up in his mind. "Don’t worry. I will make them pay for their actions."

Elyse’s eyes shone brightly. "Really, Your Majesty?"

"Yes." he nodded, "I’ve found the best way to punish them."

"You are the best, Your Majesty!" she embraced his right arm and smiled happily.

’Brother, I will avenge you. I will send them to the underworld to kneel before you.’

She added in her mind.

Shortly after that, the duo headed to the Communication Hall.

King Aldric contacted all the city lords under his rule and told them that Nightshire City had betrayed him.

He ordered them to stop doing business with Nightshire City immediately. He also made Ren and Scarlett wanted people with a bounty of 300,000 gold coins on their heads.

Elyse was thrilled by the announcement, especially the part where all cities had to make everything difficult for Nightshire City.

The bounty would be the way to kill Ren, and the economic blockade would be the way to end Nightshire City.

Even though Ren would not die immediately, she was already satisfied with the announcement because making him despair before delivering the final blow was the best revenge in her eyes.

"Your Majesty, let’s return to my chamber. I want to give you an amazing gift." Elyse whispered in King Aldric’s right ear.

Without giving her a warning, King Aldric carried her in a princess style and headed to her chamber.

"Then, let’s return to your chamber without a delay." King Aldric knew what it was because she always gave the same gift every time he helped her.

"Kya!" a cute voice escaped from her little mouth. "Your Majesty, you pervert!"

Shortly after that, her chamber was filled with her seductive moans.

----

The moon set and the sun rose.

When everyone started the day with smiles on their faces, Scarlett sat in her office with an angry expression.

The potential buyer for the Mana Crystal suddenly changed his mind and canceled the deal.

She was furious about this.

But what made her the angriest was that all of her business partners suddenly contacted her and said they didn’t want to do business with her anymore.

They even said it directly to her face as if she had breached their contracts.

"This must be the work of the Tuiziya Kingdom!" There were three reasons why she believed Tuiziya Kingdom was the mastermind behind all of this.

First, they beat up the Royal Envoy when he came to her city. Second, they disobeyed the royal decree.

And lastly, King Aldric sent several powerful awakeners to help Icria City and Nafield City in the war against her city and they killed them.

She believed King Aldric knew that all of his soldiers had died, so he ordered everyone to stop doing business with her city.

’What should I do now?’

With the economic blockade, they would face several problems because they relied on foreign merchants for things like meat, milk, and other essential goods.

Of course, they also produced meat and milk, but the amount was not much, so it would not last for long.

As Scarlett was racking her brain for a solution, Ren knocked on the door.

"Scarlett, are you there?" he inquired.

"Come in." her voice rang out from the other side of the door.

"Hmm? What’s wrong? Did something big happen?" He became worried immediately when he saw her face.

"That damn king ordered everyone to stop doing business with my city," she told him what had happened in the last two hours.

"The Tuiziya Kingdom!" Anger flashed across his eyes for a second. "Then, will it directly affect the citizens’ daily survival?"

"Not for now, but in six months, we will have less meat, milk, and other essential goods." She told him that they would run out of meat and beer by next year if this continued.

And if they could not find a solution, many restaurants would suffer heavy losses, especially those whose main menu featured meat and beer.

Ren sat on the couch and touched his chin.

’This is a big problem.’

The city’s income would take a huge hit if many restaurants closed because the taxes from them made up a significant portion of the city’s revenue.

*Knock...Knock...Knock...

The sound of someone knocking on the door echoed in her office.

"City mistress, may I come in?" Major General Georgia inquired.

"Come in." Scarlett responded.

Right after she was before Scarlett, General Georgia showed two wanted posters. "City mistress, Ren and you have become wanted people."

"We are wanted?" Ren rose from the sofa and approached General Georgia.

’They actually made me a wanted man.’

His eyes narrowed as he read the bold words at the top.

WANTED

Below the word, Ren’s face was drawn with striking accuracy.

His grip tightened on the parchment as he read the charges: Treason, Defying Royal Authority, and Murdering Royal Soldiers.

Then, his gaze landed on the bounty- 300,000 gold coins. Dead.

Right after handing Ren his poster, General Georgia gave another to Scarlett. "City Mistress, both you and Ren have been declared wanted—dead."

Scarlett shifted her gaze from her wanted poster to General Georgia. "Where did you get our wanted posters?"

"At the entrance gate." General Georgia began explaining everything.

She said two individuals caused trouble at the entrance gate and said they came to kill Scarlett and Ren, so she ended their lives.

"Does that mean our wanted posters have spread to all cities under the Tuiziya Kingdom?" Ren inquired.

"It seems so." General Georgia was not sure about this.

She was enraged when those two people said they came to kill Scarlett and Ren, so she forgot to ask about the wanted posters.

"Should we tighten the security at the entrance gate, City Mistress?" General Georgia inquired.

"Yes." Scarlett didn’t want her people to panic, so she ordered General Georgia to deal with them outside the city.

As they were talking about their wanted posters, one of Scarlett’s subordinates entered her office.

"City Mistress, the city lord of Velmora City is contacting us. He said he wants to speak with you," the red-haired female soldier reported.

Velmora City was one of the cities under the jurisdiction of the Tuiziya Kingdom. It was a small city like Nightshire City.

"Velmora City?" Scarlett rose to her feet and headed to the communication room, followed by Ren and General Georgia.

Right after they stepped into the room, they saw two images on the projector: an old man with white hair and a soldier in black armor.

The name of the old man was Larry Harper, the city lord of Velmora City.

As for the soldier behind him, he was Clark Rowland, his strongest subordinate and a general in the army.

Larry contacted Scarlett not because he wanted to help her; instead, it was the opposite.

King Aldric had declared her a traitor, so he wanted to use the opportunity to win the king’s favor.

"What do you want, Larry?" Scarlett showed no respect for him because she knew exactly what kind of person he was.

And she also believed he was contacting her not to offer help.

After all, he was a cunning and greedy lord who would not lift a finger unless there was something in it for him.

"City Mistress, I suggest you meet His Majesty and beg for forgiveness," Larry went straight to the point. "Maybe you can still save your life and your people’s lives. Do you want your people and your city to be reduced to ashes along with you?"

"And what makes you so sure we will die?" Scarlett was not surprised by Larry’s words because she had guessed it before.

"Haha." Larry tried to laugh elegantly. "Do you really think you can survive an attack from the kingdom? You may have won the previous war, but remember, those were not soldiers of the Tuiziya Kingdom."

"I refuse!" Scarlett responded, "I’m not afraid of anything in this world, including the Tuiziya Kingdom."

"You are not afraid of the Tuiziya Kingdom? It seems like I will have to resort to force." He wanted to win the King’s favor so Larry would not give up easily.

"Resort to force? Are you declaring war against us?" Ren spoke abruptly.

Larry’s gaze shifted from Scarlett to Ren.

"Hmm? You are Ren Starfall, right?" Even though he had never met Ren before, he knew who Ren was because he had investigated him after seeing his wanted poster.

"Just answer my question. Are you declaring war against us or not?" Ren repeated his words in a calm tone as if he were not asking something sensitive and dangerous.

"Hmm? You think you can handle a war against us? Fine, let’s see how that works out for you." Larry was not afraid of Nightshire City because, from his point of view, his city was better and stronger.

Ren’s lips curled up into a smirk when an idea popped up in his mind.

’I suddenly have an excellent idea to solve our problem.’
