Chapter 156: Finley Hawkins

Right after Evil Ren merged with him, a teleportation gate materialized before him. Ren didn’t go to the next floor immediately because he still hadn’t explored the valley.

’Ice Clone.’

He wanted to rest, so he created seven clones.

"Go look for treasure." Ren gave an order. "If you run into trouble, send a signal."

"Alright." All the clones nodded before finally looking for the treasure.

"System, fully restore my spiritual energy and mana." Ren said in a low voice.

[Ding! 1,000 gold coins have been deducted to fully restore Host’s spiritual energy.]

[Ding! 1,000 gold coins have been deducted to fully restore Host’s mana.]

’Now, I only need to heal my injuries.’

He took a Health Potion from his space ring and drank it.

’I hope they will find treasure later.’

He sat on the ground and leaned his back against a tree.

An hour later, one of his clones returned.

"I didn’t find a single treasure." The first clone spoke.

When Ren was about to say something, the second clone appeared.

"No treasure." The second clone said the same thing.

Shortly after that, the other clones returned and said they found nothing in the valley.

The corner of Ren’s lips twitched after hearing it. "No treasure?"

"Yeah." the fifth clone responded, "But I found some areas surrounded by strong barriers."

"Me too." The seventh clone added, "I suspected those locations were meant for other participants’ trials, so I didn’t force my way in."

"I see." Ren said, "Thanks for your hard work, guys."

All the clones nodded before finally melting into water.

’Well, it’s time to go to the next floor then.’

He rose to his feet and stepped through the teleportation gate.

Meanwhile, on the sixth floor, Scarlett finally broke free from the illusion.

She was startled when she didn’t see Ren because he was previously next to her.

’Where is he? Has he gone to the next floor?’

She believed the illusion could not stop him, so she suddenly thought he had gone to the seventh floor.

’Then, I will go to the next floor.’

With that idea in mind, she approached the teleportation gate.

After arriving on the seventh floor, Scarlett immediately looked for Ren because she wanted to be with him as soon as possible.

’Hmm?’

She stopped her footsteps when she noticed that someone approached her.

’A magical beast?’

Her response to her evil side was similar to Ren’s because she had previously met a magical beast that could imitate other people’s appearances.

"I’m not a magical beast." Evil Scarlett knew what Scarlett had in mind because it was written on her face.

"Then, what are you?" Scarlett inquired.

"I was born from your evil side." Evil Scarlett gave an honest answer.

"I see." After saying that, Scarlett walked away, ignoring Evil Scarlett.

Evil Scarlett was startled when Scarlett treated her like air.

Her surprised face instantly turned angry when Scarlett got further away from her. "Where do you think you’re going?"

"To find Ren." Scarlett gave an honest answer.

"To find him?! He’s the first one that came to your mind after arriving on this floor?!" Evil Scarlett was even angrier because Ren was more important than the test.

"Yeah." Scarlett answered as she leaped onto a tree, moving from one tree to another.

Evil Scarlett didn’t stay still and immediately chased Scarlett.

"I’m the test on this floor. You have to defeat me first if you want to find your boyfriend." Evil Scarlett roared angrily.

"I will face you later. I want to find Ren first." the time she spent in the illusion world was two months, so Scarlett really missed Ren.

Evil Scarlett gritted her teeth angrily. "You! Stop!"

As Evil Scarlett was chasing Scarlett, Asher was fighting against Evil Asher.

His method of dealing with the test was the complete opposite of Ren’s, so he still didn’t pass the test because Evil Asher was just as strong as him.

Boom!

The grass on the ground shook violently as their fists met.

"Hey, just give up and let me take control of our body. Don’t worry. I will also take care of that little human later." Evil Asher was eager to seize control because it was a waste for someone like Asher to remain in charge.

"Dream on!" Asher would never give up on the test because the inheritance of Moon God was almost within his grasp.

"Do you know why I told you the inheritance was on the next floor?" Evil Asher’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he threw a question at Asher.

Asher didn’t answer his question and only stared at him.

"Because it’s impossible for you to defeat me. Haha." Evil Asher laughed arrogantly.

"Mock me all you want, but victory will be mine." Even though Evil Asher was born from him, Asher still believed he could defeat him.

"No! You will be the one kneeling before me!" after saying that, Evil Asher attacked Asher again.

As Asher was fighting against Evil Asher, Ren stepped through the teleportation gate.

This time, he didn’t find himself in a valley; instead, he stood on a towering cliff with beautiful scenery.

A flock of birds flew in the blue sky, and an ancient spirit sat on the edge of the cliff. The ancient spirit wore a white robe, and his silver hair danced gently in the wind.

Ren could not see the ancient spirit’s face because he was not facing him.

’Is that person the Trial Overseer? Or the one who will test me?’

The ancient spirit before him didn’t behave like the previous Trial Overseers, so he didn’t know who he was.

"I’m not the Trial Overseer or the one who will test you. There is no test in this floor." Even though he was staring at the beautiful sight before him, the ancient spirit knew what Ren had in mind.

"There is no test in this floor?" Ren didn’t know that he had reached the top floor, so he thought he would face another test.

The ancient spirit rose to his feet and turned around, revealing his handsome face and blue eyes.

"Hmm?" Ren was startled when he saw the ancient spirit’s face because he looked like someone in his late twenties.

"My name is Finley Hawkins." Finley introduced himself as he approached Ren. "I’m the owner of this temple. What’s your name, little friend?"

"Ren Starfall." Ren answered.

"You know? I’ve been waiting for five hundred years." Finey said, "After waiting for a long time, someone finally reached the top floor."

"So, no one has ever reached the top floor before?" Ren inquired.

"Yes," Finley responded. "Thousands of people have visited my temple until now, but the highest they have reached is only the eighth floor. Little friend, what did you do on the eighth floor?"

Ren was startled by Finley’s question, but he didn’t show it on his face. "Well, I had a little fight with my Evil self, but not long after that, he returned to me."

He didn’t tell everything in detail because, from his point of view, it was something that didn’t need to be said.

"Did you kill your evil side?" Finley asked curiously.

"No." Ren answered.

"Why?" Finley asked.

"Because I need him to survive in this world." Ren answered.

Finley’s lips curled up into a smile. "You know? I designed that test with the intention of letting them know that they would not be able to survive in this cruel world without their evil side."

He then continued, "But instead of embracing their evil side, they always chose to fight them. That was why you were the first to reach the top floor because they didn’t understand my intention."

His disappointment toward them was shown on his face.

Most of them were over a hundred years old, but none of them understood his intentions as if they had never used their evil side before.

"Little friend, this skill is yours now." Finley took his ultimate skill out of his space ring and gave it to Ren. "The name of this skill is Moon Rising Over the Sea. It’s the symbol of me and my organization."

Like usual, a notification appeared when he touched the skill book.

However, Ren didn’t learn it immediately because he was curious about Finley’s organization and the temple.

"What is the name of your organization? Where is it located?" Ren threw two questions at once.

Instead of answering his question, Finley teased Ren. "Why? Do you want to become the new leader?"

The corner of Ren’s lips twitched.

’This spirit...’

It would be a lie if he said he didn’t want to have underlings because having subordinates could help him achieve his dream faster.

However, it was not the right time to lead an organization because he wanted to increase his power first.

"My organization is called Moon Palace and it’s located in the main continent." Finley’s expression turned sad when he remembered his organization. "But I don’t know if it still exists or not. It’s been five hundred years since I last saw my organization."

"Main continent? Then why didn’t you return to your organization?" Ren asked curiously.

"I bound my soul to my temple when I was dying, so I could not leave this place anymore." Finley decided to bind his soul to his temple because it was his only way to survive.

"I see." Ren suddenly felt sad for Finley because he could only live inside the temple now.

"Hm?" Finley suddenly smelled something.

’It smells like a magical beast.’

He walked closer to Ren and smelled him.

Ren, who was shocked by his actions, asked, "What are you doing?"

"Little friend, are you half human half magical beast?" Finley inquired.
