Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss-Chapter 41:Enlightenment [5]
Chapter 41: Chapter 41:Enlightenment [5]
With my vision blurry and slowly disappearing with each fleeting second, I saw the mochi suddenly speed up its descent.
The sound of a chair tipping over and falling could also be heard in the background, destroying the previous silence in the time-slowed world.
Time had resumed to normal.
As I barely stood up straight, my entire body writhed in agony while my right eye turned an even darker red than my pupils.
My mind spun, my right eye burned as if it had been hit by molten lava, and my leg muscles were begging me to collapse and fall to the ground...
Yet, I stayed upright.
Maybe the pain had made me go crazy, but even if it cost my eyesight, I wanted to achieve the goal.
It was as if a switch had turned in my head.
I didn’t even care about Evangel’s sword information anymore; I just wanted to win.
A river of blood formed on my face, blood flooding from my right eye and falling onto the wooden ground of the bar.
Miraculously, though, my right eyelid remained open, keeping its gaze locked onto the now-falling mochi.
In front of me, Evangel immediately gasped as she saw my hand above hers, surprised at how I cleared the distance between us.
However, it was too late.
A second later, I felt something soft bang against my blood-stained palm, and an immediate wave of relief flooded through my body.
However, that relief immediately disappeared a second later, and my vision went partially dark, trapping me in a void of darkness.
Like a tower of Jenga blocks collapsing, I fell to the ground with the mochi in my palm, a smile appearing on my blood-stained face.
As I fell backward onto the ground, Evangel suddenly turned around and looked down at my figure with...a shocked expression.
It was mesmerizing to see such an emotionless girl have an expression like that.
Perhaps that was my reward for obtaining the mochi...though I doubt she went all out like me.
Using the last of my strength, I slowly tilted my head up and opened my eyelids, making eye contact with her.
My vision was blurry and extremely distorted, flickering on and off like a light switch, but I managed to make out her face.
Her dazzling snow-white hair was glistening under the bright-lights, finally bringing some color to my colorless world, and her pure-white pupils were widened.
And there, in the reflection of her pupils, I finally saw my face.
One thick line of blood, partly dried, ran down the right side of my face, almost looking like clown makeup.
However, more shockingly, was my right eye.
My pupils remained the same crimson-red; however, the usual-white colors around them had changed.
A now night-black color colored my eyelid, contrasting greatly with my red pupil.
There were no blood vessels apparent in my right eye.
Just a void of pitch-darkness and a single blood-red pupil.
Perhaps...I had run out of blood to leak.
Then, the inevitable happened.
My eyelids shut, not complying with my brain’s commands, and I felt one last bit of pain course through my body as my head banged against the wooden floor of the building.
Then, everything went dark.

With my head spinning and burning up as if I were hungover, I slowly raised myself upon hearing the familiar sound of an alarm clock.
Sighing and slowly lifting the bedsheets off my legs, I muttered.
"Time for school already?"
Although I couldn’t recall anything from last night, I must have been studying up late to feel this wasted.
"...should I just call in sick and skip?"
With my eyes closed, I leaned backward onto my bedframe...which was, for some reason, hard like wood, and sighed.
No...if I skip, I’d just have to study the entire day anyway.
I might as well take whatever test I have today and get it over with. freewёbnoνel.com
Ignoring the also abnormally heavy material of my bedsheets, I stretched my hands above my head, letting my knuckles crack.
At that moment, as I lowered my hands, a sudden voice sounded from right in front of me.
"Skip school...? The first day of Glaive hasn’t even started yet."
Jumping upward, I immediately opened my eyes, seeing a familiar figure sitting on the chair across from me.
Oh right...I had transmigrated into a novel.
Earth was far...far away.
As I looked around confusedly for a moment, I slowly realized that something was off.
Was my field of vision limited...?
Even though I could feel both my eyelids open, the right area of vision was cut off as if blocked by something.
Raising my right hand, I attempted to touch my right eye, but instead, a rough and sharp material brushed against my face.
Perhaps sensing my confusion, Evangel leaned back in her chair and pointed to the right, where a mirror was standing.
And, there in the reflection in the mirror, I saw a tan-colored bandage taped over my right eye, completely blocking it.
At the same time, Evangel’s usual emotionless voice...perhaps laced with a bit of sorrow if I was hearing correctly... sounded.
"I wasn’t sure what to do with it..."
While the memories of yesterday’s events and the mochi bet flooded through my head, I looked downward.
The blanket...was really a tablecloth from one of the tables, and I was lying on a bunch of lined up seats.
Someone must have had to carry my uncoscious body from the ground, line up the chairs, and set up this make-shift bed.
Even my previously bloody face was cleaned up, so she must have also splashed me with water.
Letting out a dry cough, I looked ahead and awkwardly said.
"Thanks...for carrying me."
Almost immediately, a response sounded from in front of me.
"You’re welcome."
Looking around the messy bar, which had chairs and tables all toppled over from our fight yesterday, I then asked the real question that had been on my mind.
I had to soften her up with that first question.
"About the bet...I technically w-"
Interrupting me mid-sentence, Evangel stood up, causing her chair to slide back, and handed me a broomstick.
"Looks like you’re better. Clean. Now."
As Evangel walked away with a wet rag in her hand, I suddenly recalled something.
Enlightened...I had become Enlightened!
What was my gift!?
