Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches-Chapter 311Vol. 1 - - Pleased
The words HuMing spoke outside the front gates quickly made their way into the grand hall.
Gu ZhaoChuan was entertaining some friends when he caught wind of the gossip, prompting one of them to tease with a chuckle,
“ZhaoChuan, your brother sure doesn’t seem like the obedient type. He actually dared to provoke that little devil from the Shi family? Guy must really not be afraid of payback.”
“Seriously. I mean, sure, he’s got the Gu family behind him, but there’s no reason to be that arrogant, right?”
Gu ZhaoChuan kept a pleasant smile on his face, but his eyes were fixed on the direction HuMing had entered from.
It was clear to everyone present that his attention was elsewhere. They tactfully encouraged him to go and set his brother straight on how to behave in this kind of setting.
“Excuse me for a moment—I’ll be right back.”
With a few brisk steps, Gu ZhaoChuan made his way over to HuMing, who was currently explaining the situation to their grandfather.
“Yeah, there’s bad blood, I sent Shi Dan to the hospital last time.”
A line delivered so casually left many of those nearby stunned. Some of the eavesdroppers who caught his words stood with mouths slightly open, unsure whether to call HuMing fearless or just brainless.
The three major families had always maintained a delicate balance. What HuMing had done was undeniably a move to upset that equilibrium.
Just how much trouble this would bring the Gu family—only the Gu family themselves could truly understand.
“HuMing, what happened? You’ve got a grudge with that brat from the Shi family?”
“Of course. He was harassing my friend, so I gave him what he deserved,” HuMing replied matter-of-factly, not the least bit embarrassed or guilty.
It was right then that Gu ZhaoChuan stepped up. Hearing those words just now made his brows furrow. He said seriously:
“HuMing, there are things we can deal with in private. But today isn’t the time or place. Talking like that just now—do you realize you’ve completely burned bridges with the Shi family?”
Gu ZhaoChuan’s words did make some sense. HuMing thought so too—but what good would that do now? His mind felt like it wasn’t running right anyway.
Arms crossed in front of his chest, HuMing calmly stared at Gu ZhaoChuan and asked:
“So what you’re saying is, I should’ve just smiled and spoken nicely to Shi Dan? And that would’ve made everything fine?”
“Why not? The Shi family is one of the Big Three. There’s no benefit in making enemies!”
The people nearby remained silent, watching the argument unfold with solemn expressions.
Gu ZhouTing remained particularly composed. Whenever one of them spoke, his gaze quietly shifted to the speaker.
No one could tell what was going through his mind.
“So if I don’t target Shi Dan, Shi Dan won’t come after me? Gu ZhaoChuan, the way you’re talking makes it sound like you don’t even know what kind of garbage Shi Dan has pulled. Aren’t you the one always preaching about protecting the weak? Why is it that when it comes to Shi Dan, you suddenly turn into a coward? Or is it… you’re scared of him?”
HuMing’s words made Gu ZhaoChuan’s frown deepen.
He took a slow, deep breath and replied with forced patience:
“This isn’t about fear. You need to understand—we don’t have to go looking for more trouble.”
“But Shi Dan straight-up said he was going to kill me. Just for that, I’m supposed to back down?” HuMing took a step forward, his presence suddenly overwhelming Gu ZhaoChuan.
“He knows you’re from the Gu family! He wouldn’t dare actually hurt you!”
“So my friend isn’t from the Gu family—does that mean she deserves to be harassed?” HuMing’s tone turned cold.
“Gu ZhaoChuan, I used to hear at school about how righteous you were. Now that I’ve seen you for myself, I gotta say—you’re a hypocrite.”
“You—! You’re being completely unreasonable. You’re putting the Gu family on the chopping block!” Gu ZhaoChuan’s voice was stern now, like he was lecturing a wayward child, but HuMing showed no sign of being moved.
Nearby, Gu WeiJun and Mo QingXia wore serious expressions.
To them, perhaps, both sides had their points. And deep down, they each knew who they leaned toward.
“Enough,” a voice cut in, halting the escalating tension. “It’s your birthday, both of you. What’s there to argue about?”
Gu ZhouTing looked calmly at the two of them and continued.
“This isn’t some earth-shattering issue. That little bastard from the Shi family really is a menace. Just from some old friends’ idle talk, I already know plenty of his ‘good deeds’. HuMing, you went a bit too far today. It’s fine to say those things to Shi Dan himself—but not to Old Man Shi. After all, he’s still your elder.”
He turned to Gu ZhaoChuan.
“And you. You need to understand that our Gu family isn’t afraid of the Shi family. Sometimes, if you’re always cautious, always restrained, you’ll never accomplish anything.”
Both brothers got scolded. But while Gu ZhaoChuan looked unsettled—his attempt at a stern lecture having backfired—HuMing remained calm, completely unfazed by their grandfather’s words.
Someone called Gu ZhaoChuan back, and he turned and walked away. HuMing watched his back, expression unreadable.
He could already guess what Gu ZhaoChuan had in mind.
He thinks he can guilt-trip me over this just because of what I did? Did he even ask what I went through?
“HuMing,” Gu ZhouTing spoke up again, his tone lighter this time, eyes glinting with curiosity. “What exactly were you thinking back there?”
“Nothing much. My friend is the daughter of Shi Dan’s stepmother. She wanted her daughter to befriend Shi Dan—but you know what he’s like. He latched onto my friend like a damn leech. I happened to catch him in the act, so I gave him a beating.”
He spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Mo QingXia suddenly stepped forward and asked,
“Wait… HuMing, this friend of yours—would she happen to be that girl I saw with you the other day?”
“Uh… probably, yeah.”
Hearing that, Gu ZhouTing’s eyes lit up with interest.
A heroic rescue? If that girl had even half a heart, she’d definitely fall for him. No wonder HuMing had reacted so fiercely.
Back in his day, if someone made a move on a girl he liked… he probably would’ve pulled a gun.
HuMing didn’t really understand why their attitude had shifted so quickly. But the important thing was—they weren’t condemning his actions anymore.
“Alright then. Go take care of your business,” Gu ZhouTing said.
Still confused, HuMing walked off. Before long, Gu WeiJun and Gu WeiYi approached their father.
“Dad, what do you think about what HuMing did just now?” novelbuddy.cσ๓
“What’s there to think? He did good,” Gu ZhouTing said with a rare smile. “If he hadn’t stepped up, people outside might’ve thought we were afraid of the Shi family.”
