This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!-Chapter 159 - Monster
Chapter 159: Chapter 159 Monster
Chapter 159 -159 Monster
Four P.W.A.T. vans, accompanied by several police cars, pulled up at the gates of the biscuit factory.
Diana arrived just then, parked her red muscle car aside, pulled out her revolver, checked her spare ammunition, and strode towards the factory gate.
Intermittent bursts of submachine gun fire and the clashing of cold weapons echoed from inside the factory.
The new P.W.A.T. commander, Kou Mark, and the County Police chief immediately set up a cordon. The headlights of all vehicles shone towards the factory gates, bright as day.
County Police officers, hiding behind the doors of their cars, shouted into the factory using megaphones.
“We’re the Opportunity City County Police! You’re surrounded! Drop your weapons! Surrender immediately!”
Diana approached Kou Mark, flashed her credentials, and was about to explain her purpose when a black SUV drove up.
That was Bader’s car.
“Hey, Diana,” Bader got out of the car and walked towards them.
“You’re with the Administration Bureau?” Kou Mark asked.
“Yes, the people inside are involved in the West Gold Building case from a week ago. We need to capture the target alive,” Diana said.
“Who do you think he’s fighting now?” Bader looked towards the factory gate.
As they spoke, the surroundings suddenly brightened a bit—the power had returned.
“I don’t know; maybe he’s fighting with monsters infected by Spiritual Energy again. In any case, be ready,” Diana shook her head.
“Monsters? I thought this was just a simple gun-theft case…” Kou Mark rubbed his buzzcut head.
This Captain Kou Mark was still young, around 36 years old. His every move was meticulous and serious, not as calm and collected as Morgan.
“Tell your men to seal off the factory gate. Keep an eye out, don’t let anything slip through,” Diana said while checking the time on her phone, 12:45 AM.
“We’re just going to charge in? Shouldn’t we fire some smoke grenades inside first?” Kou Mark asked, puzzled.
“If that makes you feel better, shoot them now,” Diana said with a smile.
Suddenly, all the electronic controls of the vehicles malfunctioned, the headlights dimmed, and the street lamps along the roadside exploded one by one, popping and cracking.
“Snipers?!”
Someone shouted, and the P.W.A.T. and County Police officers all dropped to the ground like lightning, all except Diana and Bader, who remained standing by the car door.
A gust of wind blew, and the factory quieted down.
“What’s going on?” Kou Mark leaned against the back of the car, putting on night vision goggles and looking around.
Seconds later, an officer restarted his car, and two beams of light hit the factory gate again. For a moment, it seemed as if something flashed by the door, but it quickly disappeared.
“The car’s system just short-circuited for a moment… Try restarting your cars,” an officer called out.
One by one, people restarted their cars, and the factory entrance was brightly lit once more.
“Bader, I thought I saw something slip through the gate just now. Was I hallucinating?” Diana asked.
“You must not have slept well… I didn’t see anything. It was indeed very dark, but not to the point where we wouldn’t notice if someone came out,” Bader shrugged.
“The hacker inside was attacking us just now? We definitely outnumber them, let’s charge in!” Kou Mark exclaimed angrily, waving his hand, and thirty P.W.A.T. members rushed towards the factory gate with him.
Diana and Bader exchanged glances, shook their heads reluctantly, pulled out their weapons, and followed the team. They lined up at the cracks on either side of the large iron gate, let two team members open it, and then flooded in quickly.
As the team charged into the factory, the scene before them left everyone dumbstruck.
Scattered across the ground were numerous human corpses, seemingly from two different groups, judging by their attire. Among them were severed limbs that were not at all human.
“What in the world… Who are they?” Diana inhaled deeply, astonished at the carnage before her.
Bader immediately recognized Yasla’s creatures and his brow furrowed with a subtle expression on his face.
The scene was very quiet, and Kou Mark probably witnessed such a situation for the first time, feeling some physiological discomfort.
He had his men tally the bodies, approximately over 60 in total—over 30 of them human, the rest were humanoid monsters.
Some corpses were shredded to pieces and were beyond counting.
Among the remains, Bader caught sight of a familiar face—the Silent Witch he had once met…
“In the battle with the consortium’s assassins…” He was flooded with thoughts. Although there were frictions between the two organizations, they were in a mutually dependent relationship. There was no need for such all-out confrontation…
“Bader, look,” Diana nudged the daydreaming Bader.

He snapped back to reality and followed where Diana was pointing, only to see a pistol buried in the mud.
“Is that…” Bader was startled, a Spiritual Ability Pistol?
The Spiritual Ability Pistol was specially modified, equipped with a Spiritual Power Reader, and as a variant of the M1911A1, it lacked a safety mechanism, making it easily recognizable.
“We better wait for the forensic team to see whose fingerprints are on it,” Diana suggested.
Bader nodded, hands on his hips, standing there, suddenly feeling despondent.
Why did they have to fight? What should I do now? He pondered hard.
“Check the other buildings in the factory for any survivors,” Kou Mark commanded.
Watching the P.W.A.T. team busy themselves, Diana felt more at ease. This was her first time seeing the corpses of human-shaped monsters. Wang Ailin would no doubt be eager to study these bizarre creatures.
However, a battle of such magnitude surely brewed more complex issues behind the scenes. And from the bodies of the humans, they even recovered Holy Relics…
She glanced at Bader, who seemed to be wrestling with something, probably pondering how to negotiate custody of the Holy Diamonds.
In the distance, several P.W.A.T. members entered the dark, long-haired workshop to clean it up. To be on the safe side, each time they entered a workshop, they threw a Spiritual Power Inhibitor Hand Grenade.
This grenade dispersed a pheromone that briefly hindered the functioning of liquid Spiritual Energy in the spinal cord. Though the range couldn’t cover the entire area, it at least secured the entrance.
“Team leader, situation found! Requesting suppor—,” Kou Mark’s earpiece crackled with a voice.
At the same time, in the silence, a monstrous roar resounded. Everyone was drawn to the source of the sound—a workshop in the factory complex.
A humanoid monster, estimated to be four meters tall, charged out from the darkness.
Its eyes, glowing with a red halo, trailed red light as it moved, entwined with intestine and blood vessel-like appendages that wrapped around its slender arms and body, pulsating to supply energy to the black heart.
“Dear God! Did you see that monster?” Kou Mark exclaimed, removing his night vision goggles in shock.
Diana was too astonished to speak, as the creature resembled a contract demon, yet was distinctly different.
Only Bader knew what this thing was, but he certainly wouldn’t tell the others.
All present aimed their guns at the creature and pulled the triggers. The monster was quick and possessed strong self-healing abilities. As it was being shot, flesh flew off its body, but it quickly regenerated fresh tissue.
“Are you carrying it?” Bader turned to Diana.
Many agents returning from leave often forgot to carry their issued Holy Relics on their first day back.
“Got a new one,” Diana said, touching her chest with her hands crossed in front.
She was enveloped in golden and blue halos, her jacket replaced by a red bodice leather armor, a copper ring appearing on her head, a round shield materialized in her left hand, and a broad-bladed short sword clenched in her right.
As Diana transformed into her battle gear, Bader too put away his pistol, his body shimmering with a blue glow.
A grey-blue hooded robe replaced his neat suit, long boots adorned his feet, a sleeve sword extended from his left wrist, and a mace was in his right hand.
“I’ll Charge down there,” Diana said, laying her sword across her shield.
“I’ll go for its face,” Bader twirled his mace.
