In the evening, she left the boys at Meifen’s place as they seemed to be getting along just fine witj Yuewei and she rushed home because it was date night.

Alix had made it her tradition to go all out on dates because Caishen did the same. That was the agreement they had come to, taking turns planning dates. His dates were always extravagant, which brought some pressure for her to match up.

But, Holea had told her that it was not how much the date cost but how you felt during the date that mattered. This is why she went with a cozy date at home, games, wine and some music. The goal of this date was to laugh and bond to increase their connection.

While Caishen was taking a bath, she had the guards and two nannies help her set up. Since she didn’t know what game to go with, she arranged everything, board games, video games, card games and even DIY games. The entire living room was transformed into a little gaming world.

When Caishen came into the living room after changing into the clothes she had picked out for them both, couple clothes, she spread her arms and asked, "So, what do you think?"

The first thing he thought was that someone had turned their house into a gaming arcade. But, he didn’t say it.

"What...uhm...are we...uhm.." he was kind of confused. He had been under the impression that they were going out. Wasn’t that the entire reason why people wore couple clothes, to show off and make single dogs jealous?

Excited, with a vibrant smile on her face, Alix announced. "We are having date night from home. It’s snowing outside so I figured we could stay in and just play games. What do you think? If you don’t like it then we can still go out and do something."

"That won’t be necessary." He moved his wheelchair closer to the center of the living room.

All of the chairs and the table had been pushed out to create space in the middle for a picnic blanket, pillows, and their cats, apparently. Thank god there were no candles involved or they would have some roasted cats in the house.

She pointed to the wine bottles sitting unopened in a portable wine cooler and said, "I got some of your fancy wine from the wine rack. Do you mind?"

"It’s good." He answered. Then he smiled lightly and said, "Two bottles though, how ambitious of you. I don’t think I can drink all that in one sitting."

"Some of it is for me." She replied with a smile.

Curious, he tilted his head slightly and raised his brows. His eyes seemed to be saying, ’really’.

"I can drink now because I have this." She revealed what looked like a band aid to him. The way she exposed it was as if she was unveiling something great. It confused him very much because he couldn’t understand what a band aid had to do with her ability to drink without making a fool of herself.

"A band aid?" he questioned.

"This is a zero consequences solution for people like me that can’t handle their liquor." She replied. Then, she put it away and gestured for him to sit down.

Slowly, he helped himself out of the wheelchair and sat down. He winced a little as a result of the pain in his legs from his exercises earlier.

Alix was watching him and from her mouth, the question ’are you okay’ almost slipped out. At the last second, she had held back from asking.

The front door opened and Mo Sen walked in with three boxes of pizza. "Madam, did you order for these?"

She nodded and took them off his hands. "Hubby, we are having pizza for dinner tonight. Will you eat or should I order for a heavier meal for you?"

"Pizza is fine." He looked over his shoulder and replied.

He looked down and started going through the cards on the blanket. She had included solitaire, go fish, hearts, Uno, talk flirt dare and crazy eights. He tapped the talk flirt dare cards and laughed softly. As expected of Alix, she went all out. But, would she really dare to play this game?

He shook his head and cleansed his thoughts. Then, he touched the game control pads and connected to the television screen. It would be much safer if they started out with simple games before moving to adult ones.

"I have brought some milk, water, bottled juice and soda too in case you feel like having something other than wine." Alix dumped other things on the blanket, including snacks. She ripped open some of the snacks she brought, poured them on two different plates and gave them to the cats.

Meanwhile, he was looking at the human snacks and wondering exactly how much she planned to eat.

With the duty of feeding the cats finished, she wiped her hands clean and opened one pizza box. "Hubby, when did you last eat pizza?"

"I don’t know, fifteen or maybe seventeen years ago." He answered slowly. His eyes moved up as he tried to recall when it was.

Pizza was not the healthiest meal and he usually stuck to eating healthy. Besides, the places he ate from did not usually offer pizza on their menu.

"This is the best pizza in the city, you will fall in love with it after one bite." She declared..

He got that look again on his face, skepticism and doubt.

She sighed. "You still haven’t learned to trust my food recommendations. Hubby, haven’t you learned your lesson already?" She pointed at herself with her thumb, "I Alix know all the best places to eat in Beijing."

She squeezed herself down next to him as close as she could and handed him a slice of pizza on a disposable plate.

He accepted it, put it down and said to her, "You do know that this city is big, right?"

She was simply good at bragging. There was no way she knew every good place to eat in the city. Even if she worked in the food delivery service industry, she could not have delivered all over the city. It was not the first or last time he was reminding her of this.

She tilted her face forward, directly placing it in front of his and smiled cheekily. "I do."

He would have responded with a random fact but he was too stunned to speak. Her sudden proximity had taken him by surprise. It had been a while since they were both this close and it had also been a while since he last kissed her. With everything going on in his family, some things had been pushed back for a while, like physical intimacy.

Now that he was looking at her closely, he noticed a few changes in her, like her skin. It was glowing more than it used to. It looked soft and smooth, calling for his touch. Her eyes had quite the spark of joy and she was radiating. She was happy being here with him and that filled his heart.

His right hand moved of its own accord and touched her cheek.

He leaned forward and touched his face against hers. He took a deep breath, taking in her scent.

"Apples," he said softly. "You smell like apples tonight."
