The Spare's Second Chance in Apocalypse-Chapter 92: Ch : The Meeting- Part 4
Chapter 92: Ch 92: The Meeting- Part 4
The government officials let out a collective sigh of relief.
The tension in the room eased as they realized a fight hadn’t broken out.
One of them, a middle-aged man with thinning hair, wiped his forehead with a handkerchief.
"We’re sorry for this encounter, Miss Shadow. We didn’t expect Justice to show up today. If we knew, then we would not have called for you today as well."
He said in a begging voice.
It was clear that the officials did not want to lose her, but at the same time, they did not want to anger the Justice either.
These people were caught on both sides with no idea what to do.
Selene kept her expression neutral. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"It’s fine. But I’d advise you to be careful around Justice. Those people are trouble. Just because the public is on their side now does not mean things will remain like this for long."
Selene warned the government.
She had no personal ties to these people, but it was for the better good that these people survived.
The officials exchanged wary looks. The blonde woman, who had been silent since Rose left, finally spoke.
"We know. But our hands are tied for now. Justice has a good reputation with the public. And there’s pressure from above to keep things civil."
Selene understood. Public perception could be a powerful shield. As long as Justice appeared to be heroes, the government’s options were limited.
"I get it. I’ll help where I can."
Her words seemed to ease some of their worries. The officials thanked her, and finally, the meeting turned back to its original purpose—the support center.
Before she could dismiss this conversation, one of the people in the room stood up and looked panicked.
"Miss Shadow, is the reason you are asking us to be careful of Justice because you saw something? Is something going to happen? Can you tell us about it?"
The officer asked in a panicked voice and everyone else seemed to be getting scared as well.
Before mass panic could spread, Selene decided to clear out the allegations.
"Don’t panic. There is no use thinking about the future if you don’t take care of the present. Now, we should get back to the topic I initially came here for."
Selene laid out her plans.
She explained how the center would help low-ranked, support-type awakeners find safe work and training.
The government liked her ideas, and discussions about funding and partnerships went smoothly.
But even as she spoke, Selene couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling crawling up her spine. Something was off.
She had felt it ever since Rose walked into the room. His presence had left a mark, a lingering sense of danger.
The government official escorted her to the exit, bowing slightly.
"Thank you, Miss Shadow. We’ll handle the paperwork and get everything ready for your support center."
"I look forward to working together."
Selene replied.
As she stepped out, a cool breeze greeted her.
Selene pulled out her phone and sent a quick message to Ethan, letting him know she was done and waiting for pickup.
She didn’t move from her spot. Instead, she leaned against a nearby wall, keeping an eye on the bustling camp.
She saw government workers, hunters, and a few civilians.
Normalcy mingled with the underlying tension that always hung around places like this.
Selene’s Insight picked up faint signatures nearby—nothing alarming, but enough to keep her alert.
She tapped her fingers against her arm, counting seconds until Ethan and the others returned.
Her phone vibrated, and she opened the message.
[On our way. Stay put.]
Selene allowed herself a small breath of relief. Soon, she would be back with her team, away from this unsettling place.

Outside the government building, Rose walked with a bounce in his step.
His lips curled into a playful smile. The sun shone brightly, but his mood seemed to cast a shadow over the world around him.
His partner, the girl with short black hair, shuddered. She pulled her leather jacket tighter around herself and quickened her pace to keep up with him.
"What’s so funny?"
Rose chuckled, a low sound that made her uncomfortable.
"Nothing much. I just found my forever ’partner.’"
The girl stopped walking. Her eyes narrowed, and she reached out to grab his arm.
"You’re talking about Miss Shadow, aren’t you?"
Rose didn’t answer. He just kept walking, his laughter soft but unsettling.
She clenched her fists and rushed to stand in front of him, blocking his path.
"Rose, this is beyond stupid. We agreed—no messing with the government. No picking fights with dangerous organizations."
He finally stopped. His expression turned from amused to bored.
"Did we?"
"Yes. You said it yourself. We can’t afford attention right now.""
She snapped. He tilted his head, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"Plans change."
Her frustration turned to fear.
She had seen this before—the look he got when he set his sights on something new.
It never ended well.
Before she could push further, someone walked between them. The force of it made both of them stumble back a step.
"Hey!"
She started, her voice sharp and ready to cut. But the words died on her tongue as she saw who it was.
Ethan Park.
His presence hit her like a cold wave. His expression was blank, his eyes forward as if he hadn’t even noticed them.
But she knew better. He had seen them—of course, he had.
Her mouth snapped shut. The smart thing was to stay quiet.
Even Rose’s expression shifted, his amusement tempered by something else—perhaps curiosity, or maybe caution.
Ethan didn’t stop walking. He moved with purpose, his steps heavy on the pavement. His aura was a wall of quiet power, a reminder that he was not someone to be trifled with.
Rose’s partner turned to him, her voice low.
"What do we do?"
Rose’s lips twitched.
"Well, I’ll go after what I want. You are free to do whatever it is that you want to do."
