628 The Dark War 23

The thousands of black monsters, unable to cross the ice wall and constantly being electrocuted and bombarded, had turned their focus to aiding the Demon Lord fighting Mindseer, Heather, the Pigmen King, and Rurik. Damian had already noticed it.

Besides making the giant runic pillars and gathering liquid mana as fast as he could with his supply of raw iron and steel—melting them into the correct shapes to handle a spell of such massive scale—Damian also sent occasional giant light structures shaped like javelins toward the massive dark monster holding the black sword: the Demon Lord. Damian knew attacks from such a distance would not hit the guy, but he had his wormholes, and he wasn't exactly aiming to take down the Demon Lord—just giving the four Transcendants cover from the other black army monsters constantly trying to close in on them as they launched attack after attack on the giant legendary monster that was the Demon Lord's current body.

Mindseer, holding her golden aura-covered sword and jumping from one head of the black pigmen to another, was constantly warning the others of the Demon Lord's next attacks. Without her, even the best four Transcendants in the world would not have been able to fight the giant form of the Demon Lord for a couple of minutes, let alone hours.

Heather and his powerful flame attacks perfectly complemented the King's ice-cold giant steel axe attacks—they were like two divine guardians of the last Pigmen city in this world. Rurik supported from behind, stopping and killing any monsters that tried to interfere with the others' attacks on the Demon Lord. All four of them had hand cannons, and they were using them to full advantage. Still, the Demon Lord was a never-ending void of power, and there was no injury he couldn't recover from. The fight was only effective because of Mindseer and her timely warnings—Damian smiled, imagining the frustration the all-mighty Demon Lord was going through.

The Dark Lord might have obliterated Transcendants and legendary monsters in just a few attacks during his life, but the physically weakest third ranker—who looked like a high school student—was currently making his life miserable.

Damian kept an eye on them as he worked as fast as he could while shooting any flying monsters that came anywhere nearby. The Pigmen soldiers handling laser cannons had slowly dwindled too—the prince and the Pigmen queen had acted swiftly on his instructions.

Lucian and Sam had not returned; they must have joined the fight.

Most laser cannons had stopped, but Sariel and Amy were still operating the giant cannons and killing flying monsters. His lasers were protecting them from any monsters landing near them that they couldn't see. Damian finally finished making and inscribing his spells on the giant pillars. He left the giant steel pillar that was making mana clouds and buried the four pillars on the four sides of the giant stone shrine. The pillars had a mana tank—Damian filled each halfway. That much should be enough for a while.

He had generated a lot of liquid mana in the time the four Transcendants had bought him. The ice wall broke a couple of times, but Damian's hands were free, so he repaired it in seconds. There were still pools of lava between the black army and the stone shrine door, but Damian didn't take any chances. He had time—so why not?

The time bought by the four Transcendants was used well by Damian. After placing four pillars and activating three of them, Damian flew near the two giant cannons and got Sariel and Amy back.

"You have done enough.. Go rest inside," Damian said to the two as all three of them approached the last giant steel pillar, activating which would complete the golden barrier dome. Then he added,

"I will send the others back soon."

"We won't leave without you," Sariel said, looking into Damian's eyes.

"You should.. but it's up to you," Damian replied.

Receiving nods from the couple, Damian flew up the giant shrine step and activated the fourth barrier pillar—flying out of the dome before it closed up. Damian had no idea how effective this barrier was—wormholes and waygates still worked through it, and the Demon Lord and his lackey had some skill that let them teleport.

He was carrying five big tanks full of liquid mana with multiple mana hands while flying—it was time to wipe out the name of the Demon Lord from the face of this universe. Damian used a wormhole to quickly close in on the black army in midair. The four third rankers fighting the Demon Lord had noticed his spells a long time ago—finally seeing him arrive, their fighting spirit reignited, and they blasted their attacks with as much power as they could muster.

But soon, under Mindseer's advice, they pulled back. Damian was there—meaning the future had become pure darkness, full of uncertainties. Mindseer and the others could help him a bit, but it was not necessary. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

Damian launched hundreds of giant light arrows, clearing the sky and land near the massive figure of the Demon Lord quickly. The legendary-rank gigantic humanoid monster had stopped attacking too. The Demon Lord knew he could not do anything to Damian, with his mini-second chantless spell activations—and even those in the hundreds at once. That was already something beyond a normal fourth-ranker mage's ability. Damian too knew he could not kill the Demon Lord no matter what—there were millions of black pigmen in this world, and not all of them were even on this battlefield. He had killed thousands, probably millions, but he could not kill them all. The world was too big— even one black pigman alive in some hidden corner of this world would give a chance to escape to the real soul of the Demon Lord.

Using the pause in the fight, Damian opened a chain waygate and four wormholes to allow the injured and exhausted third rankers to go back inside the shrine city.
