Chapter 484: Chapter 484 - I Don’t Have Any Other Woman

Warm arms enveloped Jasmine before she could say a word. She wanted to shake off the hands but couldn’t bring herself to do so, as she felt warm tears slipping through her thin dress.

Summer allowed her to dress in light clothes and she realized that Rex had grown thinner. As Jasmine’s eyes widened with shock, the woman who sat beside Rex before he hugged her did not seem upset but was rather smiling.

"Jasmine, I’m so sorry. I miss you so much," Rex sobbed, in the crook of her neck. Since he was taller, he towered over her, and Jasmine stiffened in his arms.

"Mmm," Robert cleared his throat and Rex instantly pulled away, glaring at him with discomfort.

It was obvious that Robert was a rich guy just by the luxury suit he was wearing. To top it off, he was also very attractive. A little more attractive than Rex.

"Who is he?" Pain settled in Rex’s eyes as he asked. Before Jasmine could respond, Robert’s arms wrapped possessively around her waist.

"She’s my girlfriend and you are?" His brows raised with a frown, as he pretended not to know. He hated that this man had caused Jasmine to shed so many tears for over two years.

Suddenly he shows his face saying what? That he misses her? Robert was ready for him.

Rex was numb, his words caught up in his throat. Something didn’t feel right for Jasmine but she said to Robert, "he’s my ex."

The introduction was not sitting well with Rex. "Jasmine, can we talk? Alone?" Rex was nervous and his voice came out as a whisper."

Robert’s frown deepened as he already guessed how he would go and beg to get Jasmine back but wait a minute, wasn’t he with a woman?

There was no resemblance between them so it couldn’t be a relative. He convinced himself that the man was just shameless.

"Whatever you want to tell me, he can hear it too," Jasmine stood her ground. Rex might be remorseful but it didn’t mean he could dump and come back for her whenever he wanted. What was he even thinking?

"Please. I just need to..."

Robert did not allow Rex to finish speaking before cutting him off by saying to Jasmine, "Babe, let’s go. He’s wasting time and lunch will be cold."

Rex felt a pain in his chest as he looked at their intimate interaction with envy. As Robert pulled Jasmine away, Rex caught her other arm. He couldn’t let her go just like that.

"Please Jasmine, just hear me out for a few minutes."

Jasmine smiled but it was laced with bitterness. "You already have a woman so why do I need to hear you out?" Jasmine asked.

She was shocked when the woman approached them and introduced herself. "Hi, I’m Gretel, his sister. He said a lot about you."

Her hand was stretched towards Jasmine for a handshake, both she and Robert were shocked. It was not until she smiled that Robert realized that Rex and his sister shared the same dentition.

It was the only similarity between the siblings. Jasmine was numb. "You have a sister and I never knew for all those months?"

The bitterness in her chest increased and she didn’t know which was more painful. Was it the break up or the secrets?

Rex confessed, "I hid a lot from you because I was ashamed. Please give me a chance to explain."

Jasmine shook her head and held tightly to Robert’s arm. "I remember you saying that you fell in love with another."

Rex shook his head sadly, hoping that the damage he caused was not too much to rectify.

"It wasn’t true. I was just ashamed when I found out who you were. Your parents are rich and you are surrounded by affluent people, just like your new boyfriend. It was exactly what I feared."

This revelation was new and totally unexpected, Jasmine was at a loss. "I don’t understand."

"I think we should sit," Robert said, equally interested in the turn of events. The four of them sat at the round table and everyone placed their order.

After the waiter left, Rex began to speak.

"I’m very sorry but I only moved to Manhattan to work. My family and I lived in Queens. Things were hard for us and the job was my breakthrough."

The waiter arrived with their order so he paused as they were served. The appetite for food was lost and only the drinks were patronized.

Rex was the only one who could not taste anything due to the pain in his heart and the fear of his loss.

"When I met you, I knew you were the one and every day and every moment we shared together, left sweet memories I can never forget."

Jasmine smiled a little, recalling all the times they shared together but when the realization of how he had just dumped her settled in again, her smile was gone.

"Jasmine, you were always very simple so I had no fears until I met your parents. I was so scared that if you met mine, you would leave me."

Jasmine was shaking her head. She knew in her heart that she wouldn’t have done something like that.

Even if Rex was jobless by then, she would have still stood by him.

"Also, my sister was sick with my mom and they needed me so when I took leave from work to go, I did the most stupid thing."

Regret swelled in Rex’s heart, it was almost the size of a watermelon. "I don’t have any other woman like I said. It’s just you and has always been you. I could never get my mind off you so I decided to try again," he finally stated his aim.

Jasmine was conflicted. She was pained because he said he loved another woman. Now that she realized there had never been any other woman between them, she felt comforted.

Rex forced a smile as he glanced at Robert. He felt that Jasmine made a good choice but that still did not heal the pain he was feeling for having lost her forever.

"It took me too long to come back and you already moved on. I only have myself to blame for everything."

Jasmine and Robert were exchanging glances as if communicating with their eyes. She wondered if she should tell Rex the truth but was afraid of giving him a second chance.
