The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 31 – The surprise design
Chapter 31: Chapter 31 – The surprise design
Sabrina knew that should they run into Robin at the party, he might cause trouble for them, especially when he was ecstatic about her relationship with Devin.
To introduce Martin as her new boyfriend, Robin would see her as a slut but then again, she could not bring herself to care about what he thought of her. After all, he was engaged to Zayla.
"Devin will be there with Lizzy and I will just say that we broke up, in case I bump into the devil."
Saying ’devil,’ Martin’s lips curled up a little, knowing that she was referring to Robin. She continued to elucidate, "The media will be there so if they carry the news about you and me, it would be much better."
She smiled shyly before she added, "I mean when the pregnancy begins to show. I hope it will not be a problem?"
Sabrina thought about her father’s words but wanted to operate with an open mind to be able to make a better judgment. She did not know how far Martin could go in protecting her when she did not have anything to offer but it was not wrong to try her luck.
To her amazement, Martin smiled, "Alright. I feel ashamed for worrying so much about you when you seem to have gotten it all together."
He ensured that his gaze did not expose his intentions. They were not vile but he knew it would take time before he got the chance.
Sabrina smiled in return since they understood each other and that was all that mattered to her at the moment. It was not as bad as she thought.
"Yeah, thank you and about that partnership you talked about with my brother? You know that the JC Minerals and JC Clothing line is..."
"I know that going into partnership with your brother makes me an automatic partner with you," Martin politely took the words from her mouth, she nodded her head,
"I would like to know the terms."
Martin straightened up, returning to his professional mode. "I will send the proposed contract to your email."
He stood up and stretched his hand towards Sabrina after adjusting his suit.
"I look forward to it." Sabrina joined her hand to his in a business handshake.
"Thank you, Sabrina, it’s good to see you this morning."
Martin turned around and just as he reached the door, he turned around and winked. Sabrina responded with a puzzled look before two ladies walked in with a very huge bouquet. Sabrina stood up and refused to take them,
"I did not order them."
"The sender’s note is right inside. Congratulations! Miss James," one of the girls announced with a smile.
At the same time, the two ladies quickly dropped the bouquets on her desk before seeing themselves out of her office.
Sabrina quickly pulled out the note attached to the bouquet, her eyes widened at the words, ’I forgot to tell you how beautiful you looked even when you were sad. I hope this brightens your day. Martin.’
Sabrina panicked, picked up her phone, and dialed his number. "Is there a problem?" Martin responded in a casual tone from the end of the line.
"The flowers."
"Do you not like them?" He asked with an innocent-sounding tone. Sabrina sighed at the way he made it feel like it was nothing.
"I do, but I just thought it wasn’t necessary. I can send it back."
"That is the reason I had it delivered after leaving. I sensed that you’ll send it back. Look, I ordered it after the sad look on your face which you went to cover with makeup. I wish there was a way to get your mind off Robin but I know there is none," he said in clear terms.
Sabrina swallowed tightly, fearing that she must have sent the wrong message across during their collaboration. She decided to come clean,
"Martin, there can never be us."
"I know but it does not stop me from treating you as a woman, right? Ask around, Sabrina. These things mean nothing."
Sabrina was a little embarrassed but grateful that they were not facing each other while having this conversation. She also realized how judgmental of him she was because Robin never treated her like this.
For that reason, she felt that Martin was up to something or due to what her father said. She had to find a way to know more about Martin more intelligently but right now was not it.
"Alright, thanks for thinking about me."

"Lizzy, why this design?" Devin asked his sister, a frown lining his face. Lizzy maintained her smile while she responded,
"It’s seasonal."
Devin stared at the design more critically. "But it looks incomplete with too much skin exposed." His understanding of elegance meant little to no exposure of a woman’s assets when giving the best they could ask for.
For a woman to be branded sexy without exposing too much skin was what he understood to be sexy, not the other way around.
"I designed it specifically for Sabrina," Lizzy revealed, Martin’s jaws dropped.
"I won’t let her wear this," he blatantly refused. Lizzy’s smile did not waver as she said,
"Let me finish."
"Alright, be fast about it," Devin urged her on. He knew Robin would be there and was waiting to see the look on his face when he saw Sabrina with Martin this time. Devin also wanted to make sure that Sabrina turned heads at the party.
"I was thinking about a better way to market our most expensive jewelry."
Lizzy brought out her phone and showed him, "I designed this especially, and it’s worth 1.5 million. Don’t you think it would match the dress design?"
When the understanding of Lizzy’s concept sank in, Devin’s lips stretched.
"Complete the design then."
"That is if you give me an hour," Lizzy requested with her unwavering smile.
Devin’s phone was ringing before he could respond and when he lifted it to eye level, he smiled and said, "You have an hour. I will be right back."
