The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 27 - Devin’s taunt
Chapter 27: Chapter 27 - Devin’s taunt
"Seems to me like your ex-husband is still into you," Martin observed and said to Sabrina while he sipped a glass of Martini. He saw how Robin stared at her when he confronted her about being in a place like this.
Sabrina had a bottle of water in front of her and had not taken a sip. She still could not understand Robin’s reason for accusing her of coming to the club when he himself frequented it.
"Then you are reading the wrong signs. He never has and never would be."
"Speaking from a man’s perspective, I disagree," Martin smiled but it seemed distant. He wanted Sabrina and was afraid of Robin getting in the way. Robin won the first time without any effort because he was the one Sabrina loved.
Sabrina was doing a good job holding her emotions. She had done it for years so it should not be hard but the news about Robin’s engagement with Zayla made it hard.
"If he was, he wouldn’t divorce me to be with his first love and he would not have allowed her to make a public ridicule of me."
Devin had been sipping his Martini in deep thought. Robin did not just divorce his sister but was also making things difficult for her. It had to stop and he was thinking of ways to do so.
"Don’t worry, I will clean up that news," Devin vowed.
"I will help but we can as well cover it with another news," Martin said and suggested, gaining both Devin and Sabrina’s attention. He continued to explain,
"About the upcoming birthday party of the Borough president, you can pose as my date," he said to Sabrina, who stilled instantly. Devin had already come into a consensus on that matter and decided to not raise Martin’s hopes.
"Martin, I’m sorry but the deal is off. Sabrina is not going anywhere and I won’t allow her to pose as your fake date."
Sabrina smiled but there was a little bitterness to it. She needed the business collaboration for Devin so she agreed, "It’s alright, Dev, it’s just a fake date. Anyway, what is the status of Matilda?" She diverted the subject of discussion.
"I got the location of her father’s mansion before she ended the call so I’m working on getting an insider to help."
"That is fast," Sabrina smiled in appreciation. Devin pursed his lips before revealing, free𝑤ebnovel.com
"Honestly, Martin is helping out. He has a villa in the same location, which makes it easier for him to win their trust."
"Thanks Martin," Sabrina turned to Martin and said but Devin did not want her to feel indebted to Martin after all the emotional trauma Robin was causing her. He said jokingly,
"If he had refused to help, I could have still whipped his ass to force him to." Sabrina laughed, momentarily forgetting her problems. The next thing they knew a familiar slender and attractive tall man took a seat beside them uninvited.
Sabrina wanted to tell the men to leave with her but Devin already reacted,
"Dude, what do you want?" Devin had a scowl on his face when he asked. Robin grinned, making them uncomfortable as he demanded,
"I want to know how long you two have known each other and I’m not leaving without answers."
Sabrina froze slightly, feeling that Robin suspected their relationship was fake but what did it matter? With the baby in her belly and Robin’s engagement with Zayla, who equally had a baby in her belly for him, Sabrina could not back down but complete what she started.
Devin must have thought same, judging by the response he gave,
"I have known Sabrina since childhood. I hitted on her a lot of times when she turned eighteen but she only had eyes for you. I’m glad I waited," Devin said proudly.
The tale of unrequited love. Robin had heard it before and since he was with Zayla, he concluded that it was true but something did not feel right to him when he thought about it again. If Sabrina loved him as this man had said, then how could she move on so easily? He smiled causally and responded,
"Nice try, but I don’t believe you. Don’t tell me you never fucked another woman besides her, all the while she was with me."
Robin’s choice of words made Martin upset but he thought it wise to stay out of it for now. Sabrina was used to this side of Robin, for which reason she did not look surprised.
"Oh, I did fuck a lot of women but I never got over Sabrina. None of those women were as good as she is, even after the years she had been with you. I know you can attest to that fact. Isn’t it the reason why you keep coming to her? That bitchy fiancé of yours can never compare to my woman," Devin stated daringly.
He enjoyed the sight of different emotions playing on Robin’s face and knew how deep his words sunk and wounded the idiot. He continued to add more insult to injury,
"Guess what? Last night was bliss."
Robin opened his mouth and his eyes had even turned red. "So, you were seeing him behind my back?" Robin asked Sabrina, who was looking into space like she was not the one being addressed.
Devin responded, "I wish so dude, but she cut me off after she got married to you. I was surprised when she finally called and asked for my help. I gave her my conditions which included her being mine and she readily accepted. She never missed you after signing the divorce papers and that was our first intimate moment together. Her response showed that you weren’t good enough."
Sabrina chuckled and Martin was keenly observing Robin’s mood. He picked the bottle of martini and gulped it down before asking Devin,
"What is your name?"
Devin guessed that Robin did not believe him and wanted to investigate the matter. It got him confused at how he trusted Sabrina so much but let her go so easily.
"You are not my friend so why should I tell you? Guess what? I feel like fucking my woman so you can stay here whiles we are leaving." He wrapped his arm around Sabrina’s shoulders, urging her to stand when a growl escaped from Robin.
The table in front of them overturned as all the drinks and bottles broke. Before Devin could decipher what was happening, Robin pounced towards him, grabbing him by his shirt collar.
Devin kicked Robin in the stomach and Robin kicked him back. The two were engaged in the fight, the club went quiet. Martin went to pull Devin away while Daniel arrived in time to pull Robin. Sabrina was so shocked that she felt helpless.
"What the fuck, Robin. Why are you doing this?" Daniel asked while trying to stabilize him.
"He has no right to be with Sabrina," Robin said, his voice bitter and his eyes red. Sabrina was so angry, she snarled,
"You are insane, Robin. I thought you were coming to announce the date of your wedding. I never thought you would ruin a barren woman’s date with the man who loves her."
Remorse flashed in Robin’s eyes when he recalled the word ’barren,’ which Zayla called Sabrina during the interview. His lips wobbled as he tried to render an apology but before he realized, the three people were all gone and waiters were cleaning the mess created.
