The Overnight Chosen Wife: darling, kiss me deeper-Chapter 613: Cupid (2)
Chapter 613: Cupid (2)
Tianxin forced a smile, realizing that Yue was looking at her like she wanted her dead.
However, contrary to her expectations, the girl suddenly smiled and unclenched her fists.
"Linhou is the most important man in my life." She spoke out of the blue, facing Tianxin. "He is the brother I didn’t get to have and my best friend and... I love him."
She shut her eyes as if assessing the words that had just left her mouth, but she didn’t take them back.
"I love him more than life itself. So, if you don’t truly love him, let him go before he falls too hard. I don’t want him to be hurt." She uncontrollably held Tianxin’s hand with her own trembling one.
"Actually..." Tianxin wanted nothing more than to reveal the truth, that she wasn’t in an actual relationship with Linhou and that the girl Linhou actually loved was her. However, it was not her secret to tell so she nodded.
Yue bit her bottom lip. She obviously wanted him to be happy. Why did it hurt her so much now that he had a girlfriend?
She couldn’t take it anymore, so as soon as they went back to the house, she left Tianxin and the others in the living room and ran all the way upstairs and locked herself in her room.
She had the strong urge to peek at them and know what her parents thought of Tianxin—why did it even matter so much? However, she knew that it would only shatter her heart if she saw her mother smile so sweetly at another girl. So she slumped onto her bed and waited until she heard the rumble of a car engine from outside. She slid out of bed and peeked out through her window and left her room when she was certain that it was Linhou’s car about to leave.
As soon as she got downstairs, Xiaoshi looked relieved. "There you are, Yue. Could you take this to Tianxin? She forgot it." She placed a phone in her hand and herded her out the door, and before Yue knew it, she was on her way to stop Linhou’s car.
The phone vibrated in her hand and she instinctively looked at the screen, only to see a message from Mumu on the lockscreen.
[Are you still alive?]
She frowned. It was already odd that after asking for her help selecting girls for Linhou, Xiaomu’s friend just happened to be the girlfriend who Linhou introduced to her parents. It was definitely not a coincidence.
Linhou got out of the car when he saw her. "Yue? I thought you were asleep."
"Like you don’t know my bedtime?" She rolled her eyes at him and covered her mouth as soon as she realized just what her words had implied. Merely a second later, she decided it was not a bad idea. She peeked at Tianxin as she added, "At what time do you usually put me to bed and tuck me in?"
Linhou looked baffled. It wasn’t that he had never put her to bed but she made it sound like something entirely different. However, there wasn’t the slightest ounce of panic that his girlfriend might misunderstand him. At the same time, Tianxin merely looked awkward. That wasn’t the kind of expression one would have, faced with a woman claiming to be sleeping with her boyfriend.
She smiled and held out Tianxin’s phone. "You forgot this. Here."
She didn’t wait for them to react before walking back to the house.
"Yue-" Linhou held a hand out and retracted it immediately. It didn’t seem like a good time. Besides, he instinctively wanted to wait for Xiaomu to tell him when he could tell her the truth.
...
Yue huffed as she slotted the pieces of the puzzle together. When Xiaomu asked her to help find a girlfriend for Linhou despite not having had a good relationship with her, she was trying to make her jealous. Then Linhou introduced Tianxin to her parents. Was it for the same reason? The more she thought about it, the more she was convinced she was right. She had asked Linhou why he would introduce his girlfriend to her parents instead of his own over text and he had stated that he only wanted Han Xichen to stop thinking of him as the predator out to get his daughter. However, she didn’t believe a word he said.
So the following evening, she grabbed her phone with an evil smile. "Two can play this game, Jiang Linhou."
She called Qiao Feng but was only able to reach him after a gazillion tries. She was finally impatient.
"What took you so long to answer my call?" She chastised.
"Are you trying to kill me?" The man hissed as though he was in pain.
"Are you alright?" She was worried.
The man chuckled on the other side. "I will be if you don’t contact me anymore. That Jiang bastard is trying to kill me and I haven’t even asked Mumu out yet."
"Why would he..." She understood before she could ask. Crap. Qiao Feng was in love with Xiaomu and had sought her help getting close to her. She had agreed, but one thing led to another and she pretended to be in a relationship with him to make Linhou jealous. Why the hell she had the urge to do that, she didn’t understand, but if Linhou had later seen him with Xiaomu, it would explain his rage. He definitely thought Qiao Feng was playing his best friend and his sister. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to put you on the spot." She apologized.
"Well, tell him the truth. I still love my life!" He lamented.
She promised to tell him. She was going to tell him anyway, but she needed to do it sooner now. So she sent him a text message to call him over.
As usual, all it took to get him to come over was a simple text message. He never asked what she needed, and never made excuses. No matter what he was doing, he would put it on hold for her.
She slapped her forehead when she thought about it. It couldn’t be any more obvious just how much he treasured her. She had been as blind as he had been.
This time, he didn’t feel the need to sneak in through her window, perhaps because he thought he had fooled Han Xichen. He had not, but luckily Xiaoshi was home and would diffuse the battle if it began.
Yue locked the door as soon as they were in her room and took deep breaths.
"So, I’m going on a date tonight. I would like your help choosing an outfit." She smiled and disappeared into her closet, returning in a short red dress.
"No." He spat, but she could see in his eyes that it was not because he didn’t like the dress. He looked jealous.
She smiled and changed into a seductive blue dress with a plunging back nearly all the way to her waist, and which was only long enough to cover her backside.
Linhou looked like he was going to explode.
"This is good enough, right?" She asked.
He took her curvy figure in and clenched his fists so tightly she thought his hand would cramp.
She swallowed nervously. Was she taking it too far? She bit her bottom lip. "If it’s not good enough..."
"It is." He interrupted.
She was startled. Did he just admit that?
He closed in on her and adjusted the strap that was sliding off her arm, and put it back on her shoulder. "It’s just... he really doesn’t deserve you, Yue. I mean it. He is after my sister."
She was rendered speechless by the hurt in his voice. He knew why he was stopping her. Why wouldn’t he say it?
She forced a laugh. "Oh, that. I broke up with him. I’m dressing up for another man."
"Like this?" He looked down at her body, fighting the urge to wrap her tightly in his arms so no man would get to see her dressed this way.
"What’s wrong with this?" She asked.
He shook his head. "Does he deserve it?"
"Yes." She looked up at him meaningfully, hoping he would catch the hint. He didn’t.
She turned away to go back to her closet, only for him to grab her waist. He wrapped his arms around her from behind. "What about me?"
Her heart raced. "What?"
His breath was hot by her ear and her brain was foggy, fuelled by the heat emanating from him and the unmistakable hardness against her butt.
"I like you, Yue." His voice broke.
