The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me?!-Chapter 96: Preparation For tea Party (II)
Chapter 96: Preparation For tea Party (II)
Primrose yawned a few times, wishing she could just crawl back into bed and pull the blanket over her head. But unfortunately, she had to stay wide awake because she didn’t want to ruin the delicate makeup and intricate hairstyle that had taken so long to appear perfect.
Her makeup was soft and elegant, highlighting her natural beauty.
There was a hint of shimmer on her eyelids, a touch of rosy blush on her cheeks, and a subtle pink tint on her lips that made her look naturally lovely, like she had just stepped out of a fairytale.
Her hair was gathered into a graceful bun, elegant but not stiff. Delicate braids were woven around the sides, wrapping like a crown to frame her face. A few soft strands were left loose, curling gently around her ears and neck.
But the main highlight wasn’t her hair or her makeup, it was the emerald green dress she wore.
The dress’s design was simple, yet rich in detail.
Tiny diamonds had been sewn into the dress like stardust, catching the light with every movement.
The sparkle wasn’t loud or excessive. It was modest, the kind of sparkle that showed wealth and status without shouting it.
"Look at you, Your Majesty!" Solene exclaimed the moment she stepped into the room. Her eyes lit up as if she’d just seen a goddess. "You look absolutely breathtaking today!"
Today?
Primrose glanced at her reflection in the mirror for a few moments and silently thought to herself, ’I look this beautiful every day.’
While Marielle was putting on jewelry for Primrose, Solene reminded her, "The ladies will arrive at the palace at 10 in the morning."
She continued, "Once the maids serve the tea, the others will bring out the pastries you selected yesterday."
Primrose just nodded, too sleepy to say anything. More than once, her head nearly dropped forward as she tried to fight off a yawn.
She should’ve just held this tea party in the afternoon. Why in the world did she plan it for the morning?!
"Your Majesty, how about this necklace?" Marielle asked as she fastened a piece adorned with ruby stones around Primrose’s neck.
Primrose’s eyes snapped open the second she saw her reflection.
The jewelry was stunning, no doubt about it, but having that many sparkling things on her all at once felt a bit ... too much.
This was just a tea party, not a royal ball. She didn’t need to be dripping in diamonds.
"Choose something a little more simple," she said, her gaze shifting to the tray of necklaces on the vanity. "That one. I think that’s enough for me."
She was referring to a gold necklace with a small ruby pendant in the center. It was so subtle, people would likely overlook it entirely.
Marielle frowned. "Are you sure, Your Majesty? That necklace looks ... a bit plain."
"That’s exactly why I want to wear it," Primrose replied. "I don’t want people to notice my necklace or earrings. I want them to notice something else."
Primrose deliberately tapped her fingers on the table, subtly showing off the wedding ring on her left hand.
Fortunately, Marielle quickly caught on to what she meant. "Then I’ll put this necklace on you, Your Majesty," she said with a warm smile, carefully fastening the dainty chain around her neck.
As she stepped back, Marielle admired Primrose’s reflection in the mirror. [Who cares if the pendant is small? Even without it, Her Majesty’s beauty is enough to turn heads.]
[Poor His Majesty ... if only he could see how stunning the Queen looks today, he’d be overjoyed.]
Unnoticed by anyone, the rabbit doll lying on the bed occasionally flickered with a soft blue light in its eyes, almost as if it couldn’t contain its excitement at seeing Primrose dressed so beautifully.
By the time the morning sun filled the palace with its golden light, Primrose was completely ready to welcome her guests.
She had taken her seat gracefully in the greenhouse ahead of time, surrounded by fresh flowers and soft sunlight, patiently waiting for the ladies.
And, of course, the rabbit doll was with her.
She didn’t quite know why, but she felt oddly anxious whenever she couldn’t see it, even for a second.
Had she somehow developed separation anxiety from a doll? How ridiculous.
Not wanting her guests to think she was strange, she didn’t place the doll on the seat beside her. Instead, she tucked it into a corner of the room.
As long as she could still see it, that was enough.
"Why aren’t they here yet?" Primrose tapped her fingers restlessly on the table. "Do you think they’re not coming?"
Solene, who stood just behind her, quickly replied, "They’ll be here soon, Your Majesty."
Marielle nodded in agreement. "Lady Solene is right. It’s not even ten yet. It makes sense if no one has arrived."
At least, that was what Primrose hoped for.
By the time the clock struck ten, not a single guest had arrived.
Minutes passed, one after another, but there was still no word that any of the ladies had shown up.
Wasn’t that strange?
Back in Illvaris, no one was ever late to a tea party. In fact, they usually showed up early just to make a good impression.
Primrose let out a forlorn sigh. "Maybe ... this party doesn’t matter to them."
Her head slowly lowered, and the bright spark in her eyes began to fade. She no longer looked excited to welcome anyone.
Seeing this, Solene’s expression turned anxious. "Your Majesty—"
"Marchioness Raven of Moonshadow has arrived!" a soldier suddenly called out in the distance, announcing the arrival of their first guest.
Primrose immediately sat up straight, her face lighting up as she hurried to show her sweetest smile to greet the Marchioness.
She had never met the Marchioness of Moonshadow in person, but because people always talked about her, it felt like Primrose had known her for a long time.
She had always become the hot topic all the time.
Because in her first life, Marchioness Raven of Moonshadow was known for one thing—murdering her own husband.
