Chapter 30: Chop the King’s Dick!

Primrose blinked at the crowd. Outwardly, their faces remained stoic and cold, but inside? They were roasting Edmund alive.

... Wait.

Did they actually have the guts to castrate their own king if he got caught cheating?!

Oh, well.

Since most of them were already on her side, she might as well turn up the heat.

"L-Lady Leah, what are you talking about?" Primrose’s voice trembled, her breath hitching as tears welled up in her eyes. She didn’t even have to force it because the absurdity of this situation was enough to make anyone cry.

She continued, "Why would I ever ask you to sneak into my husband’s chamber? Wearing ... wearing something like that?"

She lifted her gaze, locking eyes with Edmund, only to find him suddenly fidgeting, looking guilty as hell.

The almighty Beast King, who could stare down armies without flinching, couldn’t even meet his wife’s eyes.

[What do I do?! My wife just caught this half-naked woman coming out of my bedroom!]

[Will she misunderstand?!]

Primrose let out a soft, broken sob, clutching her chest as if her fragile heart was about to shatter.

"Your Majesty," her voice quivered. "How ... how did she even get in?"

She took a deep breath before speaking in a heart-wrenching voice. "It can’t be ... did you open the door for her?"

The soldiers and the maids’ minds exploded within seconds.

[CHOP THE KING’S DICK! CHOP IT OFF NOW!]

[OUR QUEEN IS CRYING! SHE’S ONLY BEEN HERE FOR A FEW DAYS, AND SHE’S ALREADY HEARTBROKEN!]

[WE DON’T DESERVE OUR QUEEN!]

[THE BEAST KINGDOM SHOULD JUST TURN TO ASHES FOR MAKING HER CRY!]

Wasn’t that a bit too extreme?!

Why were both the beasts and their king so dramatic and suicidal in their own heads?!

"I’m not the one who let her in." Edmund took a deep breath, looking more terrified than when he faced a powerful demon beast. "She entered my chambers on her own."

Primrose gasped. "How is that possible? Did you give her your bedroom key?"

Leah, still kneeling before her, frowned. [Why is she suddenly acting like an idiot?! She was the one who gave me the key!]

"I DIDN’T!" Edmund’s sudden outburst echoed through the corridor. Every beast in the room turned to him in unison.

[How dare he raise his voice at our Queen?!]

As if realizing the same thing, Edmund’s mind screamed in horror. [HOW DARE I RAISE MY VOICE AT MY WIFE?!]

"No ..." His voice dropped into a near whisper, his head hanging low. "I’ve never given my key to anyone."

[The key disappeared from my door, so I had to use the spare one earlier.]

Leah gritted her teeth and grabbed onto Primrose’s leg. "Your Majesty, you’re the one who gave me His Majesty’s bedroom key!"

"Are you seriously going to keep playing dumb?!" Leah snapped. "You told me yourself that His Majesty doesn’t like your body and that mine would be more to his taste!"

[HIS MAJESTY SAID WHAT?!]

Primrose could almost hear the collective gasp from the soldiers. Some of them had already started unsheathing their swords, as if preparing for immediate execution.

"Lady Leah!" Primrose cried out, her voice trembling with heartbreak. "How could you say such a thing?! Why would I ever give you permission to sneak into my husband’s chambers?!"

Tears welled up in her eyes, falling down her cheeks in shimmering trails. The sight of their devastated queen only fueled the soldiers’ rage.

To everyone else, she looked like a heartbroken wife, struggling to hold herself back from slapping her husband’s mistress right then and there.

"And ... why would you say that my body isn’t good enough for my husband?" Primrose covered her face with her hands, sobbing as loudly as she could. "I’m so sorry if that’s the truth!"

"No! That’s not true!" Edmund took a step forward, but then hesitated. His hands clenched at his sides. He didn’t want to scare his wife by suddenly reaching for her while she was crying.

He talked in his mind. [My wife’s body is perfect!]

Leah tried to defend herself. "But ... but you kept repeating—"

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" Edmund lost his patience. "Not only did you sneak into my bedroom, but you also dared to spread lies about the Queen! Leah Blanton, are you looking for death?"

His voice was sounding like a disaster waiting to unfold. Leah froze in place, holding her breath as if even breathing would further offend Edmund.

She collapsed onto her knees and she pressed her forehead against the cold marble floor. "P-Please, Your Majesty! I would never have done this if Her Majesty hadn’t given me permission!"

Leah had always believed she was special, that the king would favor her over his insignificant little wife.

But look at her now.

Bowing so low before the King of Beasts while that "insignificant little wife" hid a victorious smile behind her trembling hands.

"Your Majesty." Primrose lifted her face, looking at Edmund with tear-glazed eyes. "Do you trust her ... more than your own wife?"

[My wife’s tears won’t stop falling.]

[If she cries this much, her eyes will be swollen and red tomorrow.]

[I can’t let that happen.]

"There is no one in this kingdom I trust more than you, my wife." Edmund’s fingers curled tightly around the hilt of his sword. His icy gaze turned back to Leah, filled with nothing but disgust.

"The only punishment fit for you ... is death."

Primrose immediately ran toward him, clutching his hand tightly. "No, Your Majesty!" She pretended to plead for Leah. "Lady Leah has helped me a lot before she ... betrayed me. I can’t ... I can’t bear to see her die because of me."

[My wife’s heart is so pure and kind. Even after being treated so cruelly, she’s still trying to defend her.]

Primrose scoffed inwardly.

The only reason she didn’t want Leah to die was because death would be too merciful for her.

In her past life, Leah had painted her as a disgrace, whispering venom into the ears of the court until everyone turned against her.

She spread vile rumors, claiming that Primrose cheated on her husband, sneaking out every night to satisfy her insatiable lust.

Worse, she had convinced people that Primrose despised the beast race, that she was so disgusted by them she would vomit if a beast so much as touched her.

Because of her lies, people started to believe that the Queen of Noctvaris was a cruel mistake—a punishment from the Moon Goddess upon the beast kingdom.

But not this time.

In this lifetime, Primrose wanted Leah to suffer the same humiliation she had endured back then.

"Maybe ... we can send her into exile." Primrose’s face was as innocent as a rabbit’s, but even a rabbit could bite. "We could send her to the Forsaken North."
