Chapter 484: House filled with love (3)

"Annalise, it’s time for dinner. Annalise," Lydia said, gently tapping her hand on Annalise’s arm to wake her. "Rafael says we need to go to the table. You’re awake," she said, catching Annalise’s smile before she tried to hide it.

"I am," Annalise answered, opening her eyes. "Then I need to get up so I don’t keep you waiting."

"Did you sleep?" Lydia asked. Annalise had been lying on the floor while she helped Rafael with dinner.

"No. I only closed my eyes for a little but I wasn’t able to fall asleep," Annalise said as she sat up. "Dinner smells good."

"I helped, but it was only putting plates on the table," Lydia said, standing up with Annalise so they could walk together. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"Sounds like Rafael had a nice little helper. I need to wash my hands so you can go to the table before me. I’ll come soon to take a look at how you placed the plates," Annalise said, stopping by the entrance of the dining room to let Lydia run inside and join Rafael.

’Okay," Lydia replied, running inside to take her seat. She picked one to be right between Rafael and Annalise. "Annalise is washing her hands," she informed Rafael.

Rafael poured water into the teacup he had to use for Lydia instead of a glass. "Good. We can get started on dinner. The food is still hot so be careful when you start to eat."

Lydia nodded her head. She was seated on the chair she picked, but she was waiting for Annalise so they could all eat together.

"I am back," Annalise said, entering the dining room. "Which seat is meant for me?"

"This one," Lydia pointed to the chair to the right of her.

Rafael took his seat on the chair to the left and pulled Lydia’s plate closer to her so she wouldn’t have to reach too far. He placed a napkin on her lap to catch any piece of food that might fall from her fork.

Annalise smiled at the sight of Rafael tending to Lydia. Each time she left the two alone they became closer. "Thank you for the food, Rafael. It is quite a lot," Annalise said, feeling slightly sick just from looking at it. It smelled good, but at the same time, something about it was upsetting her.

Since Rafael had carefully prepared it, she was trying her best to not let what she was feeling get the best of her. She could eat a little bit and once she started to feel worse she would have to stop. The dress she wore now didn’t help ease up what she was feeling with how glued to her body it was.

Annalise hoped Rafael was in for playing games because after filling her stomach, she wanted to go to sleep this time. She was going to listen to her body and go to bed.

Annalise reached for the water which seemed to be the most amazing thing in the world right now.

"Are you not feeling well, Annalise?" Rafael asked as she was the only one to not start eating. He had tried his best to make the food bearable for her to eat. "If there is something else you want, I can get it for you."

"It is fine. I just need to wait a little before I eat. The water is good for now. Just eat," Annalise said, not wanting either one of them to stop eating because of her. She wasn’t feeling the best around the food now that it was before her, but she could just wait for the funny feeling to pass. "Is it good?" She asked Lydia.

"Yes," Lydia answered, going back to focus on her food since Annalise said to eat. She was going to eat all of her food so she could grow like Rafael.

Annalise looked away from Lydia to Rafael who was yet to pick up his fork again because he was occupied with watching over the two of them. She felt bad that her stomach was suddenly upset so she could not eat right away.

Looking at the food, Annalise just had the feeling that if she took one bite she would want to vomit. To wait it over, Annalise placed her right arm on the table and rested her hand on the palm of her hand.

"Here," Rafael said, picking up Lydia’s cup of water for her. Once he dealt with Lydia, he could then focus on Annalise and then eat his food.

"Thank you," Lydia said, taking the cup from Rafael. "You should try some."

"I should," Annalise agreed, picking up her fork to give the rice a taste. She placed the rice in her mouth and started to chew. She still had the funny feeling at first, but it wasn’t anything she couldn’t bear with.

Annalise joined Lydia in eating, just a bit slower so she would not go back to feeling like she shouldn’t eat or she might vomit.

Rafael was able to eat now that both Annalise and Lydia were eating. The room became quiet as they filled their stomachs.

An hour later, Rafael was taking the plates to the kitchen as they had spent more than enough time sitting around, unable to move because of how full they were.

Annalise took Lydia to get washed up for bed. The gifts would need to wait until the morning as Annalise had caught Lydia’s eyes closing, but then she would jump and open them at the smallest sound.

"It’s time for bed. We’ll play again tomorrow before we go to the market," Annalise promised so Lydia wouldn’t worry about playing again.

"Okay. I am done," Lydia said, showing Annalise her hands and opening her mouth to show that she was clean.

"They are all clean. Rafael will join in putting you to bed. If you get scared during the night, you can come to our door. We will keep our door open wide for you to come to us. Do you want your door to stay open?" Annalise asked, holding Lydia’s hand for them to walk to her room together.

Rafael was behind them as he had left the plates to be cleaned later so he could help Annalise put Lydia to bed.

"Open so you can come to me if you get scared," Lydia said even though she thought that with Rafael around, they would not need to be scared. He could protect them from monsters and bad people.

"Thank you for the kind offer," Annalise replied, opening the door of Lydia’s bedroom.

Lydia went straight to the bed to try getting on it so she could go to sleep right away. Then morning would come faster and they could ask for her to live here forever. She was already wearing the dress she was going to sleep in as she had put it on after bathing at the orphanage.

Rafael helped Lydia get up onto the bed and pulled the blanket back for her to get under it if she wanted.

Lydia laid on the soft big pillow and looked at Rafael and Annalise. "You need to sleep too."

"We’ll wait a little longer to make sure you are sleeping and then we’ll go to bed. Tomorrow we’ll buy some books to read you bedtime stories," Annalise said, taking a seat on the bed. "I am not good at making up stories that might help you sleep. We can try to find one about a little bird.’

"And it’s bird friends," Lydia added.

"Of course."

"Good night," Lydia said and then closed her eyes to finally give in to sleep. She had nothing to worry about if Rafael and Annalise were watching over her.
