The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 481: Stay with you (4)
Chapter 481: Stay with you (4)
The ride was quick like Annalise told Lydia with no one falling asleep before they reached home.
Rafael exited the carriage first this time to help Lydia and Annalise out. Then he sent off the driver so they could get some rest and be back on time tomorrow.
Lydia looked around the massive home which was far larger than the orphanage. She couldn’t believe that only two people lived in a home like this. Did they share it with others and the others were yet to come outside? "Are there more people?" She asked.
"No, it is only the three of us for now," Annalise answered.
It was too late for the maids who came every few days to clean to still be here and there wasn’t anyone to cook because Annalise and Rafael had not called for the cook. There weren’t any guards since the knights were not with them.
They get to do as they want at night without worrying about someone walking in on them.
Lydia looked over the house once more now that she knew for certain it was only the three of them. Then there was a chance that she would get to sleep in her own room tonight. She had never done that before.
Annalise was quick to open the door so Lydia could go inside and get a proper look around. "You can go looking around if you want. All the doors are unlocked," she said, letting go of Lydia’s hand so she wouldn’t keep her back in exploring.
Before the fun would start, Lydia would need a tour. Her curious mind had so much to discover.
Lydia slowly walked into the house, looking around at all the decor she passed by and then at the stairs that would take her up to the second floor. She turned around to make sure Annalise was still behind her and waited for Rafael to come inside so they could look around together.
There was plenty of space for the three of them to play and if they were to play hide and seek here, Rafael would be able to hide and they might not find her because she was small.
As Lydia watched Rafael come in and close the door, she found a small pile of boxes and bags with a few toys placed on them,
Annalise followed Lydia’s gaze toward her gifts. They didn’t have enough time to move it away.
They didn’t think Lydia would be here tonight so they would have needed to be quick to move it.
"They are all for you, but we’ll open them a little later. Some tonight and then the others tomorrow because there are too many for you to open now. Do you want to see the room you will be using tonight first?" Annalise asked, going back to the tour so Lydia wouldn’t be opening her gifts just yet.
Once the gifts started to be opened, a big mess would be made, and Lydia wouldn’t want to do anything other than play with her toys. Dinner needed to be started so they should save this to last so Rafael could see her reaction to what he bought.
"I don’t have gifts," said Lydia.
"They are your gifts," Rafael said, going to the pile to pick one for Lydia to open and see that what was inside was meant for her. There wasn’t any harm in letting her take one with her now.
"I don’t have gifts for you," Lydia explained, worried that they might be looking to get a gift from her. She didn’t know that she was to prepare gifts. She had a coin from her last birthday that she was still saving, but she didn’t know if it was packed in her bag.
Had Lydia known about gifts, she would have brought some with her. Still, there were two people so her coin wouldn’t have been enough. She could have brought one of her favourite toys or a few of her drawings.
"You didn’t need to bring us any gifts," Rafael replied, going down to Lydia’s level with a gift in his hands. "We wanted to give you a few things. That doesn’t mean we must get something in return. You coming here is already a gift. Would you like to open one?"
"Rafael, shouldn’t we save that for last so we aren’t stuck by the door opening more? We should take her to see her room first and then let you get started on dinner. We can open a few after dinner- You little," Annalise bit her tongue to refrain from letting a bad word escape her mouth.
Rafael was in the middle of opening up one of the small boxes with a wooden toy inside.
Annalise wished she had something to capture this moment to show that Rafael would not be the more responsible parent. "Or we could open one now," she sighed.
Annalise didn’t try to stop him from opening it anymore and watched as Lydia reached into the box to pull out the toy Annalise was yet to understand how it was a toy. It looked like it could fall apart if you held it the wrong way.
"You take it apart and then put it back together again," Rafael explained to Lydia.
"Oh," Lydia said as the toy started to break. "It broke."
"It’s not broken. See," Rafael replied, taking it from her hands to show how to put it back together. "It’s fixed."
Lydia took the toy from Rafael and inspected it to see how it was holding together this time. She soon put it back in the box since she had no reason to play with it now that it was fixed.
Annalise snorted, patting Rafael’s back as she walked by him. "I don’t think she cares much for the toy. Now, let’s go see the room. I’m sure there will be a toy she likes among the others. We need to learn what she likes," Annalise said to cheer Rafael up since he looked defeated over the first toy being a failure.
Rafael placed the box to the side and stood up to join in on the tour. The first toy only held her interest for less than a minute, but he had other toys to show. If those toys failed, he would start again when they visit the market tomorrow. He would be more successful now that Lydia was with them.
Lydia stared at Rafael, thinking that he looked sad. She left Annalise’s side to pick up the box to carry it to the room she would be using. She looked up at Rafael and found that he was smiling so she must have cheered him up.
This time, Lydia reached for Rafael’s hand so she could walk with him. She didn’t want him to go back being sad.
Annalise didn’t feel out of the mix with Lydia holding Rafael’s hand. Since Lydia wanted to go with Rafael, Annalise decided to be the one to lift Lydia’s bag to the room. "I got it. It’s not heavy. You are insulting my strength," she said to Rafael because he was crazy to think a small bag would be too much for her to lift. freёwebnoѵel.com
"It is light," Annalise said as she walked by the two who both looked like they wanted to stop her. She feared that Lydia might be no different than Rafael once she learned that a child was inside of her. "Stop staring and come with me to the room."
