The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 460: Last days (1)
Chapter 460: Last days (1)
"It’s nice having a tall son-in-law like you to reach all the high places. Please get the last box up there," Celine said, pointing her finger to help guide Rafael to where he needed to go next. "I’m sorry to trouble you with this. I was going to do it myself, but Phillip was the one to pack the boxes and I am not tall like him."
Rafael easily pulled down the box that was too high up for Celine to reach. This was nothing to tire him out. "It is fine," Rafael said, lifting the box out of the small storage room.
"You’ll be rewarded with getting to see things from Annalise’s past. We might need to go through a few since they’ve been in there for years, but I’m more than happy to share their stories. Let me help you," Celine said, picking up a box from the floor to lift to the table.
Siena, Giselle, and Heidi had all left with Thomas who came to continue showing them around the town since Annalise was busy so only Celine and Rafael were present.
Rafael looked forward to seeing what Celine had kept from Annalise’s youth. He expected to see a lot of weapons in the boxes, but he also looked forward to finding things he would have never imagined Annalise had.
"It was hard to get rid of everything as she grew up. We gave away a few things to some of our friends who had younger daughters, but we still kept a lot. Oh, this box has her little tiny pants," Celine said, holding up a pair of red pants. She coughed because of the dust-filled scent. "Perhaps it is good we did this so I can throw out more."
"If only you saw how fast her little feet would go when she put on her pants. Her shoes were nowhere in sight and her hair was flying through the wind as she moved. Phillip and I could never catch her. We would need to set a trap," Celine said, putting the pants to the side in the pile which needed to be burned.
"We’d tell her that we found a spider we needed her to take out and when she got near, we’d grab her. As smart as my little girl is, she fell for that trap each time. Just mention a spider and she’d come running. They are all so tiny and cute. If I could just have her back to this size for a moment," Celine wished, putting the small pants to her chest. "You must think that I am crazy."
"I do not," Rafael honestly answered. "I would like to see Annalise in her youth."
"There should be some old family portraits around here. A few on the walls. You didn’t have much time to look around with my husband always trying to get you out. You can take a few of Annalise’s old portraits. We tried to have her do one each year. She’s yet to do the one to join her family wall," Celine said, now remembering that they were to have it done soon.
"Family wall?"
"All the leaders in my husband’s family go up on a wall so we can remember all of them and the sacrifices they made to keep us safe. I can take you there later to see the rest of our family. There are some weapons though broken you might want to see," Celine replied.
"These are the books we used to read to her. They now have an awful smell. They need to be burned, but I also think that I should just put them back as they were. I like knowing that they were here. Do your parents have memories of your childhood stored away?" Celine questioned, wanting to know more about his family.
"My mother must have most at her home and some stored away in the manor. She never gave away anything. Not that I am aware of," Rafael answered.
Rafael remembered Beatrice thinking of sending some of his belongings to the orphanage since he no longer needed them, but as she looked through old clothes and toys, she cried and put them back.
"Annalise and I both believe that you are a lot like my mother. We have a bit of a family issue to solve at home, but the next time I come to visit, I will bring my mother. She is ready to move here," Rafael said as he grabbed another box for Celine to open.
"It is sweet that she likes to be where you are. Your family is welcome here. I’ve heard so much about your father throughout the years. I’ve long let go of the fact he once fought against my husband. Both families are lucky that we didn’t lose anyone. It would have made it harder to accept your relationship with Annalise. You can open that one," Celine said as she noticed he was letting her be the one to do it.
There were many boxes to go through and though she liked being the one to open the boxes to be flooded with memories, Rafael could open some. She would cry just from seeing him hold out something.
"It is a bit early, but what do you think of starting a family with Annalise? I don’t mean having children. Just the two of you being together and having a future together. Any worries or something you look forward to?" Celine asked.
"I look forward to spending the rest of my life with her. One day having children and grandchildren. Celeste is also looking for us to have children because she gave me something-"
"Don’t!" Celine exclaimed, fearing that Rafael would go through with drinking Celeste’s weird mix. "Please tell me you did not accept the drink from her."
"I only tasted a sip. It was horrible so I didn’t drink much of it. Should I be concerned?" Rafael questioned, more concerned now than he was when he drank it.
"You should be. I trust Celeste with many things but not when it comes to her mixes for us to drink or eat," Celine answered, thinking of a weird mix Celeste put before her. She shuddered as the awful scent was still remembered by her nose.
"Phillip was tricked years ago and ended up sick. There’s nothing about what she mixes to help us have children. We’re just tests for her to change up the ingredients and try to get it to work on someone else." fгeewebnovёl.com
"She liked to claim that it would make you not be able to keep your hands off your partner. You don’t need her help," Celine said, trusting that Annalise and Rafael were fine on their own. They were both young and in love with each other. They needed a mix to keep their hands off each other.
Celine started to laugh as she imagined how awkward it must have been for Rafael to know Celeste thought he needed help. "Oh, this takes me back to my youth. Thank you," she said, wiping tears from her eyes. "Celeste is a strange one so prepare for her to do crazier things in the future."
"Unfortunately, it’s a bit too late for you to run away. I’ll hunt you down and drag you back here. Your size means nothing when I’ve got years of experience handling Phillip."
