The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 458: Little girl (3)
Chapter 458: Little girl (3)
"Father is ready to go so I won’t keep him waiting," Annalise said, putting down her fork as she was finished with breakfast.
Phillip had finished a few minutes ahead of her and had been avoiding her gaze because he didn’t want it to seem like he was rushing her. The day had not long begun and from the beginning, Annalise hadn’t told him what time they were going to leave.
Phillip was ready to get the basket now that Annalise was ready to go.
"You two can go ahead. I will wash up by myself," Celine said, shooing Annalise away so her adventure with Phillip could start sooner.
"I will see all of you later when I return. Rafael and I need to do a bit of shopping for my home so I might be a bit busy when I return. Siena, will you watch over the kitten for me? I’m sorry to be asking you and my mother to care for it a lot when I am busy," Annalise said, knowing it might be a headache to deal with a pet that didn’t belong to you.
After today, she would take the kitten to the other house to let it have more space to run around and take care of it herself there. It should be able to keep itself entertained there when it was left alone for her to step out to do something.
"It is fine. I like playing with it," Siena replied. The kitten never gave her any trouble and was with Celine most of the time. Siena thought that if Annalise wasn’t careful Celine might want the kitten for herself.
"Thank you. Goodbye," Annalise said, kissing Rafael on his cheek. She would have liked to kiss him on the lips but doing it around her parents was a bit weird even though she was now an engaged woman.
Perhaps it had something to do with the way her father stared at her, wanting her to come along as if the day was going to end soon.
Rafael wanted a better kiss but without turning around, he knew that Phillip might be watching them. Him specifically. They had to give Phillip a bit more time to be around them when they displayed their affection. He wasn’t like Celine who was jumping for joy.
Rafael didn’t mind as he imagined should any of his daughters come home with a man, he wouldn’t be thrilled. He wouldn’t think of this time now when he wanted Phillip to welcome him with open arms. He might be worse than Phillip and rip the bastard from his daughter.
"We can leave now," Annalise said to Phillip. She tried to get a good look at what he had packed, but the opening of the basket was covered with a blanket. Annalise only wished that he hadn’t packed a large amount of food like he had last night. She couldn’t eat anymore. "I will get the door."
Phillip followed Annalise, grabbing a sword on his way out as they could never be too safe. If it wasn’t a person trying to harm them it could be an animal.
"Where should we go? Do you want to have a picnic or is there something else in the basket?" Annalise asked.
"We are going for a walk like we used to do. Do you remember the path leading to where I used to take you to train you in secret?" Phillip questioned, leading the way in case she had long forgotten about it.
"How could I ever forget about that place when I loved going there the most in my youth? I remember you asking me to hide from my mother that you were teaching me how to use a sword. She wouldn’t have liked that I was using a wooden sword. It didn’t last long because she caught on to what we were doing. It was fun," Annalise said, smiling because of the memory.
"Fun for you, but when you were out of sight, it felt like I was scolded by my mother," Phillip said, still hearing Celine’s words echoing at the back of his head.
Annalise knew her mother wouldn’t have let the matter go by easily. "But you eventually convinced her. She started to let me wear pants and started to pack food for me to eat after I trained. We didn’t have to sneak to go there any more."
"I didn’t convince your mother to let me train you. She changed her mind in the morning. Celine realised that it was better to start training you to protect yourself because your life would be in danger in the future. I agreed to not let it be many hours of a day so you could play with your peers. You ended up liking it and trained on your own time," Phillip said.
He only wanted Annalise to be a bit prepared should she ever need to protect herself, but Annalise took a great liking to using swords and went off on her own to look around at other weapons.
"Because I got to be like you and all the other warriors. I wanted to be like you growing up. It was always fun to see when you would play, fight others and win. Laughing as you helped them up. You kept complimenting me when I trained and I liked it a lot so I worked to become better to keep making you proud," Annalise revealed, remembering how happy it made her when he cheered for her.
"I am grateful that you trained me when I was younger so I found what I love. There is nothing like being in a bloody fight and taking down all your enemies. I am sorry that I worried you and mother a lot in the past because I always had a weapon in my hands," Annalise said, knowing they worried she would get too caught up in fighting and gravely injure herself.
"You didn’t worry me," Phillip replied as seeing her destroy her peers made him happy. He worried less about Annalise dying in war when she became the leader. He thought that she was well-prepared to take down their enemies and live for a long time. "I would have been worried if you didn’t know how to properly use a sword." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Annalise inched closer to Phillip to hook her arm around his and lean her head on him as they walked together. "You never need to worry about me not thinking of you. There is a special place in my heart that no one can push you out of," Annalise said, wanting her father to remember this forever.
Rafael becoming her husband didn’t change the place Phillip had in her life. Phillip was always a good father so no one could ever convince her to cut him out of her life.
"We should make a promise to do this once in a while. Have a day for just the two of us. I used to enjoy our adventures in the past. Like how you would help me sneak the animals I found into my room. Still, I think when you become a grandfather, you will spend your time with your grandchildren instead of me," said Annalise.
"Nonsense. They’re my grandchildren, but they won’t get in the way of me being with my daughter. You’ll come first," Phillip said, certain of it.
Annalise doubted it would always be this way when there might be small children saying they wanted his time. She truly believed they might succeed at stealing her father away. "We will see in the future," Annalise said, noting this moment to bring up one day.
