Chapter 410: Future (4)

Rafael quietly backed away from the bed to not disturb a now sleeping Annalise and winced when he felt a slight pain from the markings created by Annalise’s nails.

After her confession, Rafael led her back to the carriage so they could ride home together and leave the others to enjoy a day of walking around, but before they had reached the mansion, Annalise had started to do as she wanted and undressed him, sitting on his lap to start off fulfilling her fantasy.

Rafael thoroughly enjoyed every second of the long ride back and then it did not stop when they finally returned to the mansion. It was a hard task to cover Annalise’s messy appearance from the eyes of the knights walking around and resisting the urge to just continue right on the stairs, but they made their way up and now an hour later, Annalise was exhausted.

Rafael didn’t know what had caused her to suddenly want to be tangled up and unfortunately, Annalise did not have the answer. Rafael could only think it had something to do with him sharing her interest in welcoming Lydia to be part of their family. Nothing else had happened to get Annalise so worked up.

Rafael stood stark naked, trying to reach for where she had dug her nails into his back. In the heated moment, it didn’t hurt, but now that it was all over he could feel everywhere Annalise had wounded him.

It was partially his fault since he had been a bit rougher. It was because of Annalise revealing a few secrets of things she wanted him to do to her or her to do to him. He might have been a little too rough with her though Annalise seemed to have enjoyed it. It resulted in her nails going deep into his skin and her voice filling the room.

He had to take care of her when she woke up because he doubted she would be able to walk to the bathroom to soak on her own.

Rafael turned to a mirror in the room to inspect Annalise’s work. In his eyes, she had created art on his back. Something the knights would tease him for if they were to see his back.

Rafael then walked around the room to pick up the pieces of their clothes that almost looked torn before of how they undressed each other. He could hear the kitten crying out from inside the bathroom where he had broken away from Annalise to place it because he didn’t want it to mess with their time together.

It had to stay in the bathroom a little bit longer so Annalise could rest and then he would bring it what was needed to feed it.

Rafael put back on his pants and went to the desk he was using as a study so he would be in the bedroom with Annalise during the day instead of being closed off in another room. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

In their time out at the market, Edgar had sent them a letter along with one from Tobias.

Rafael looked over to the bed at Annalise sleeping soundly and then sat down to read what was sent to them. He opened Edgar’s letter first and read the message about meeting with everyone in the palace for a gathering tomorrow before the meeting for the truce started.

Edgar would be there with his wife along with the queen and other friends Rafael knew. It was to give Annalise a better welcome into the palace than what she would have if she first entered to meet with the king and court. They only needed a response if Annalise would join them.

Rafael saw no reason to say no when Annalise would be able to meet the duchess and queen. She would find the palace to be less stressful if her first time in it was meeting good people.

Rafael took up a paper to start writing a response to Edgar that they would be attending the gathering. Once the message was finished, Rafael folded it up neatly and put it to the side to be sent out later.

Rafael then picked up Tobias’s letter and opened it to read. He didn’t make it halfway through the letter before balling it up in his hands. Tobias was questioning why like Edgar, he had picked a woman whose father Tobias hated.

"That idiot," Rafael muttered.

As someone with a future prince or princess on the way, Tobias should be finding something better to do with his time.

Rafael continued to crumble up the letter in his hands and then stood up from his seat to go back to the bed where Annalise lay. There was nothing to do so he decided to join her in bed.

Rafael tried his best to be silent to not wake Annalise but the second he laid back on the bed, Annalise turned around to face him and scooted her body forward to get closer to him.

"You should have just stayed in bed. What was so important for you to read?" Annalise asked, her eyes still closed as she was tired, but she was awake enough to want to know what the letters contained.

Annalise moved to have her head resting on his bare chest and placed her cold right foot on his slightly warm feet.

"You will be meeting Edgar, his wife, and many others in the palace tomorrow. They are hosting a proper welcome for you to the palace. Many of my friends are in town so it is the perfect timing. You will enjoy meeting all of them. Edgar is excited to see you again because you are quite like him," said Rafael.

"In what way? I don’t think there is anyone quite like me," Annalised replied. The duke seemed to be an interesting man, but could he compare to her? How were they similar?

"Your personalities are not that much different and Edgar has liked hearing that you scared someone with a snake. When we were younger, he scared someone with a spider to get us out of school. I’m a bit worried about the two of you being around each other," Rafael said, feeling it was a bad idea.

Annalise opened her eyes, covering her mouth as she yawned. "I will only have eyes for you. There’s nothing for you to worry about."

"I know that. That was not what I meant. I worry about the trouble the two of you will cause. Edgar shares a love of violence and torturing people around him. He might not be as he usually is because the duchess is pregnant, but I still need to be concerned about you too," said Rafael.

"Finally there is someone to understand that spiders are fun. Maybe we are unlike. I promise that I won’t cause trouble in the palace with the duke," Annalise said, raising her right hand to show how serious she was.

Rafael held up his hand to interlock his fingers with Annalise’s. Annalise was half asleep so he didn’t expect this promise to be kept. "Right."

"I am serious. We won’t cause any trouble. Where would the duke and I find a snake or spider in the palace?" Annalise muttered, drifting back to sleep.
