The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 280: Loved until the end (3)
Chapter 280: Loved until the end (3)
Annalise could clearly see Rafael’s disappointment in her not saying what she really wanted to say. Time and time again, she continued to make him wait, and he did not state how made him feel. He didn’t argue that she should be more open to speaking with him.
They slept together, yet she could not open her mouth to tell him who she was. She had never been so afraid of what was on her mind before. She wished he knew that. It was so hard to possibly witness someone you cared for looking at you differently when they learned something shocking about you.
"We’re going to have the person outside thinking we are doing something bad," Annalise said, continuing to smile as she pushed his hair out of his face. "Tell me what you need to be packed, and I will get everything for you. Please let it be your swords and armour."
"If I tell you to pack my swords and armour, you will just play around with it and not get much done," Rafael said, standing up from the floor. freewebnøvel.com
"Guilty," Annalise honestly answered. "Are you certain you don’t want to give me one of your old armour? My friends might not believe that I was around the well-known commander. Your armour is darker than everyone else, so they might know it is yours."
Rafael had a better idea in mind. "Why not invite me to see where you grew up and they will have no reason to doubt you or were you just trying to scam me out of armour."
Annalise frowned, annoyed that her plan failed. "You’re no fun."
"Scamming it was. I will give you your own armour, Annalise. I treasure all of my armour even if it cannot be used anymore. Each tells a story," Rafael said as he walked to the door. "You can put together some clothes."
"Again, you are not fun," Annalise muttered.
She sat up from the bed just as Rafael opened the door and went to find a bag to fold his clothes and put them in. She was probably the last person he should want to gather clothes for him since she just threw on anything. Cara was more suited for the job.
Now that Annalise thought of her friend, she started to think of what she should do as a parting gift. She couldn’t give away the dress Rafael bought her, but she could give Cara a little bit of money. It would be a great parting gift if she could get Rafael to let Cara be the one to tend to his room in her absence.
Then she had to think of what to do for everyone else who was nice to her during her stay here. If she were to go around giving them gifts, it might seem like she was preparing to never return. It was bad to do, but a simple goodbye as if they would see each other might be the best idea.
The future was unknown to everyone. There was no telling if she could leave the border in the future and come back to this town to see the people she came to like. Some might shake her for being away so long, but they would be happy to see her.
Annalise shook her head to get rid of those thoughts for now. All of her attention should be on Rafael right now and finding a bag to place his clothes in. As she searched the room, she listened closely to Edwin telling Rafael that his breakfast would soon be ready and all the horses were out of the stables, gathering near the gates.
Everything was ready for Rafael’s departure aside from his clothes and him having breakfast.
"Oh. I hope you don’t mind, but I already put together your clothes like always. I didn’t touch your swords or armour since I didn’t know which one you would be taking with you."
"Well, there goes my job of packing his clothes," Annalise muttered.
She wondered if Edwin had been bored with Rafael out of the manor and started to pack his things or if he realised they were returning late so he packed Rafael’s bags. Edwin was being helpful, but he decreased the things Annalise could do for Rafael.
Since there were no clothes for her to pack and Rafael didn’t want her playing with his armour, Annalise walked back to the bed and sat down on it. When the door closed, she fell back on the bed.
"It is as soft as I thought it would be. Of course, you would have the best bed in the manor," Annalise said, spreading out her arms and moving them up and down to enjoy the mattress. It wasn’t too soft and it wasn’t too hard.
Rafael neared the bed to look at her taking over his space. She looked quite comfortable at the moment and if she wanted to, she could sleep. He decided to join her in bed so he could have a little rest after staying awake most of the ride back to the manor to keep Annalise steady so she wouldn’t fall and look around for danger.
Without having to pull her to him, Annalise rolled to face him and lay on his arm. He doubted that she was aware of the fact that when she was tired, she had a habit of being touchy. More touchy than usual he had to add.
Already, Annalise’s left hand was on his chest.
Rafael grabbed her hand to stop it from wandering and said, "I have never been so violated by anyone."
"That is good to hear. Besides, I know that you enjoy it when I touch you. You just don’t like that I am doing it now when we are in bed because we can’t go any further than touching. Looks like I also know you well now," Annalise replied.
"So it seems," Rafael said, letting go of her hand to let her get back to what she was doing.
While Annalise enjoyed touching his chest, Rafael took it upon himself to play with her hair.
"You are also a touchy person, Rafael. Not that I mind. Your interest in my hair is still surprising, but I do enjoy it. If you keep your hand in my hair, I am going to fall asleep. If I do, you better not leave without saying goodbye or I will hunt you down and strangle you. Then this plot of Travis wanting you would be over with," Annalise said, moving her hands up his chest to poke his throat.
"I will not leave without saying goodbye. I have no plans of getting on your bad side. Rest and I will wake-"
"Stop telling me about resting. It is you who needs to sleep. I have spent three nights with you and you did not get enough rest for each of them. Sleep now and I will wake you when breakfast is ready. Knowing that you were finally able to sleep is the only way I can send you off," said Annalise.
"Very well, but you must promise me something. When we see each other again, you must give me an answer about what I asked you. To stay with me. I won’t wait long for that answer when I return," Rafael said, hoping she would give him it now.
"When we meet again, you will have your answer," Annalise promised.
