Chapter 37: 36. Master (3)

I opened my eyes as instead of the chirping of the birds or the gentle call of my maid I heard the whispers of someone around me.

"Ah, she’s awake!"

"Happy birthday!"

Two faces squished into my field of vision one blob of pink and another of white both had twinkling golden eyes and eager smiles on their faces.

For a moment, I was disoriented but then I recalled that it was my eleventh birthday today. It had been five months since I started my new life as Reina.

At first, I had thought that I might not for the world be able to adjust to the affection of these people but with time they managed to get past the walls of my heart. They were now enough important for me to think of them as my own people.

I sat up and looked at my father and my brother sitting on the edge of my bed smiling.

"Good morning, Reina!"

"Good morning!"

They must have snuck into my room as soon as they woke up as the two were in their pajamas. I couldn’t get enough of their adorable acts like these.

"Are you awake now?" ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"What do you want to do today?"

"Guess what Daddy has bought for you?"

"Do you want to go see your gifts?"

The two seemed giddy with happiness but considering they were here like this they still had something coming for them.

Any minute now.

The doors of my room opened and the head maid followed by Penny entered my room with a stern face.

"Oh goodness! Your Grace and even Young Master!"

The two males flinched.

"How unsightly of you two to enter a lady’s chambers so early in the morning when she isn’t even ready!" She scolded them before pushing them out of the room.

"Please visit the Young Miss after you’ve dressed yourself and after she’s dressed herself!"

She closed the doors and sighed, before turning to me.

"Good morning, Young Miss."

"Good morning, Isla." I smiled and she smiled back.

"Shall we help you get ready now, Young Miss?" She asked and I nodded.

The Head Maid Isla was the wife of our Head Butler Tobias, she was a strict but kind woman who looked after the household and the staff. She was also the one who would take care of my needs aside from Penny.

Isla and Penny helped me dress up in a baby blue dress before tying my long hair up in twin pigtails.

"Oh my! Young Miss you look so adorable!" Penny covered her grin with her hands while Isla had a proud looking smile on her face.

"Let’s go now, Miss. It’s time for breakfast." Isla said and I walked out with her.

On my way, the other servants of the mansion greeted me and wished me for my birthday.

The mansion was decorated despite my refusal of celebrating my birthday on a large scale.

I entered the dining hall and found my family waiting for me in the dining hall. The small party that was scheduled for the day was in the evening so till that time I had to finish most of my work throughout the day.

Rune and Father kept probing me throughout the breakfast asking me if I wanted to go out or if I would like to do something special. I had no idea of what to ask of, I had never had a chance to celebrate my birthday in my past life so I had no idea what to say or do.

"Do you want to go out in town and buy something?" Rune suggested and I looked at him.

"I’ll buy you whatever you want, Reina." Father added.

I gave it a little thought and then sighed, of I went out and returned quickly after picking a few things then I could work in peace.

"No?" Rune asked.

"But you’ve been spending more time with your Grandfather and Uncle!" Father pouted.

"I don’t even get to see you since you’re always working."

"We miss you."

The two put on the pouty puppy dog faces making me sigh.

"Fine let’s go out in town."

The two perked up, "Really? Someone get the carriage ready!"

"Yay!"

I hadn’t thought of what I would do out there but in the end I think it was good that I decided to go.

We got down at the market place and Father and Rune stood by my sides, Rune took my hand and the knights carefully lined up around us.

All this was because they wanted to prevent my usual bout of getting lost. I didn’t say anything as we visited the shops around and I was satisfied with the condition of the town. Even though I was busy developing my own town I had managed to buy a few rundown looking shops in the area and developed them made them my base for the intelligence gathering.

A boutique, a bakery, a restaurant and a jewelery shop.

I had these shops bought under the name of Rune so that it would become a good investment for him in future.

After going around the town and buying a few things we returned to the mansion and ended up in the library.

I had to check the reports and also practice my magic before I could call it a day and then after the celebration I had other thing to do.

I had kept tabs on the North as per the Marquis’s request and his dispatched personnel was also quite good in sending the reports but the problem was the time that it took.

North was far away so, keeping up-to-date with the news was a bit difficult, the last thing I knew was that Davian had become the Grand Duke after that, I still had to know what was going on.

In the evening, I returned to my room and the maids quickly started changing my clothes into the party wear, a baby pink colored fluffy dress.

My birthday celebration was exclusively for the family members and the household staff but I had ended up inviting Darren Marley the Master at the Mage’s Tower as he had been keeping track of my Magic progress.

I didn’t want to recall the embarrassment I felt while cutting the huge cake in front of me as the people around me wished me.

In thirty years of my past life I hadn’t celebrated my birthday with so many people wishing me.

"Our Young Miss might just because the most adorable and intelligent person in the kingdom."

"I know, right? She must be the genius who is born once in a thousand years!"

"I agree!"

The servants were talking around as they ate the slices of cake and I sighed as I stared at the adults and then looked at the mountain of the gifts that were covering one corner of the large hall.

"Go ahead and open your gifts." Silas prompted and I hesitated.

"Come on, Reina! Let’s go open your gifts!"

Before I could say something, Rune took my hand and dragged me towards the gifts.

I opened the gifts and found all kinds of stuff ranging from the cute toys to the expensive jewelry, to books and the other valuables.

"Get used to it, once you debut in the social world you will receive more gifts." Marquis said as he handed me a placed his hand over my head.

"Move over," Silas interrupted as he pulled me at his side and placed a red box in my hands.

"Open this in your room."

"You should pay some respect to your father, Silas." Marquis hissed.

"I should pay respect to the man who coerced a young child into becoming his successor in exchange of helping her?"

"Well, you’re also making the devices for her in exchange for your deal as well, aren’t you?"

The two started again and I slinked away as there was no way to stop them.

The two sure had things that would take longer to resolve but if they met frequently then they would surely some day start warming up to each other.

I spotted Darren who was standing quietly and walked up to him.

"Are you getting bored here?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Not at all, Young Miss. I’m happy that you invited me to this celebration." He smiled as he sat on his knee in front of me.

"I didn’t quite expect that the Young Miss would see me as someone who could attend this celebration. It might not be quite valuable but, I hope you like this gift." He said as he pulled out a blue box from his robe.

"Can I open it?" I asked.

"Sure,"

I opened it and saw a bracelet inside with a clear stone on it.

"It’s not that amazing as how Archmage makes but it will help you whenever you are in trouble." He said and I smiled as I put it on.

"Thank you, Master Darren." I said and he shook his head.

"It’s not much."

"Then can I ask for something?" I asked and he stared at me with a little caution.

"What is it?"

I smiled as I leaned close to his ear to ask him the question that I had been wanting to ask.
