The Female Cannon Fodder With Boundless Merits-Chapter 86: The Poisonous Childhood Friend (Part 15)
Chapter 86: Chapter 86: The Poisonous Childhood Friend (Part 15)
The document signed by Shi Shen had been authenticated and held legal effect.
In addition to the document, the hospital had produced a series of corroborative evidence including surveillance footage and doctor’s testimony.
So no matter how much Shi Family’s mother and son made a fuss or insisted that they did not voluntarily undergo the organ donation surgery, it was all in vain in the end.
The police came, took down a few statements, and left, leaving behind Shi Family’s mother and son with hearts brimming with unexpressable resentment.
Shi Mu suggested seeking media exposure, but the hospital was experienced in dealing with such disturbances which occurred every few days.
So, no matter how Shi Shen and his mother made a scene, it was futile; they had no standing whatsoever in this city.
"I’ll call Xiu Xiu, and you should call Xiao Li... with such a major incident, even if just to maintain their facade of virtue, they won’t ignore us."
Shi Mu uttered these words with a laugh, once again placing hope in the Su Family to come to their aid, yet still harboring disdain deep inside.
Do they owe you something, that they have to help you?
Shi Shen hesitated, unwilling. What was he supposed to say?
To say his previous illness was a lie would reveal his true intentions.
Shi Mu wouldn’t consider so much; her first thought was to turn to Hua Xiuxiu. After all, when the two families used to visit each other, Hua Xiuxiu never once refused any of her requests.
Even for things that were difficult, with a little extra effort, or by acting pitiful, the naive and sweet Hua Xiuxiu would comply.
Now, in the face of such a serious incident, Shi Mu believed that relying on Hua Xiuxiu’s laughable sympathy, she definitely would not refuse.
Shi Mu held this firm belief when she dialled her confidante’s number.
But apparently, she had forgotten about the time when she approached Su Li behind Su Family’s parents’ backs and emotionally blackmailed her to make Su Li donate a kidney to Shi Shen. Wasn’t that akin to poking at the very lungs of a parent?
Even the most patient person would get angry; why would Shi Mu think others wouldn’t mind?
Is it because her skin is thicker than the city walls?
And not to mention, the affair involving Shi Shen’s deceit.
The recent spate of misfortunes befalling the Shi Family was already Su Family’s doing; why would they want to slap themselves in the face?
Thus, Shi Mu was destined to return without achieving anything.
Hua Xiuxiu did answer Shi Mu’s call.
However, before she could speak, Hua Xiuxiu unleashed a torrent of mockery and sarcasm so vitriolic and harsh that it broke new bounds.
Despite Hua Xiuxiu’s usual appearance of being amiable, how could a woman who had been spoiled for years not have her own temper?
This time, Shi Mu really stepped on her sore spot, and Hua Xiuxiu didn’t hold back at all. The phone call was filled with the most unpleasant words targeted at Shi Mu’s vulnerabilities.
After venting, without waiting for Shi Mu to utter a word, the call was hung up.
Immediately afterward, Hua Xiuxiu completely blacklisted Shi Shen’s mother’s number.
Shi Mu, dumbfounded, kept the phone pressed against her ear, and as the "beep beep beep" sound came through, it was only after a few seconds that she sat with a pale and livid face, spewing relentless curses.
The sole audience to this entire affair was none other than her own son, watching from the sidelines.
"I really didn’t expect her to be so cold-hearted; we’ve had years of friendship. She could be so tough, so indifferent."
"Indeed, few are those who help in time of need, while many are quick to push when someone’s down. It would have been so easy for her to help... weren’t you too someone she watched growing up..."
No matter how much Shi Mu complained or how much resentment she harbored, she couldn’t change the established reality.
"Son, what should we do now..."
"Mom, go find Ye Ruolan."
Meanwhile, soon after being wheeled out of the operating room, Ye Ruolan quickly regained consciousness.
Though the incision hurt, she was feeling utterly pleased inside.
But before she could enjoy her happiness for long, Shi Mu, following Shi Shen’s wishes, came looking for her.
As soon as Shi Mu entered the hospital room, she charged straight at Ye Ruolan, who lay on the bed with her eyes closed to recuperate.
Other than Ye Ruolan, the only other person in the hospital room was a young nanny taking care of her; none of her parents, brother, or sister-in-law were present.
Ye Ruolan was unaware that the Ye Family was bogged down with various emergencies and that such a significant event as her surgery had gone unattended by them.
So this situation was entirely convenient for Shi Mu.
Shi Mu rushed forward in one quick step, grabbed Ye Ruolan by the hair, and dragged her towards the edge of the bed, cursing vociferously, looking every part the brawler from the marketplaces.
The nanny present was startled, then stepped forward to help, only to be knocked to the ground by Shi Mu, hitting her head against the corner of a table and suffering a sizeable bump.
"Who are you, what do you want?" The nanny, clutching her head, struggled to her feet. Seeing her own frail arms and legs, no match for the assailant, she could only cry out loudly for doctors and nurses to come.
Seizing the moment when no one was blocking her, Shi Mu landed several firm slaps on Ye Ruolan’s face. Very soon, her attractive features swelled up like leavened steamed buns.
Ye Ruolan was completely bewildered. From being dragged out of bed to feeling the pain, she had no clarity on what was happening.
Since she had just undergone surgery, Ye Ruolan was altogether weak and powerless to resist in front of Shi Mu.
She felt her bandaged wound beginning to bleed, the pain intensifying, "It hurts so much, stop it..."
"You wicked woman, you know pain too, huh? My son and I are in way more pain than you."
Shi Mu’s face distorted with rage, veins pulsating violently on her face, she looked as terrifying as a demon freshly emerged from Hell, her voice a guttural roar, "Did you ever consider retribution when you received my son’s kidney?"
Despite the ongoing assault of Shi Mu’s hands and words, Ye Ruolan could no longer discern what the other was saying—she was only aware of an ever-increasing, unbearable pain and the sight of the mouth opening and closing before her, the last terrifying image before losing consciousness.
The ordeal felt incredibly long to Ye Ruolan, yet in reality, it lasted only a short while.
The nanny had quickly called for help, and the medical staff arrived rapidly.
Shortly, Ye Ruolan was wheeled back into the operating room.
Out of breath but still not satisfied, Shi Mu followed the rolling bed for a few steps, "This isn’t over, using others’ parts with no conscience, no fear of karma."
Shi Mu caused a scene in the private hospital, and before she even finished shouting, she was caught by the hospital’s security personnel.
Originally, Shi Shen intended for Shi Mu to negotiate terms with Ye Ruolan.
Once Shi Shen calmed down, his intelligence also recovered considerably.
The situation being what it was, he had already convinced himself that Ye Ruolan had set a trap for him. However, faced with the Ye Family, he alone could not inflict any significant harm.
