Chapter 314: Liviera and Noreen

There was no way that Spade had not considered this future when he let Liviera be part of this mission. However, after a lot of contemplation, he still decided to let his omega father be.

This was his grievance, and this was the only way for Liviera to ease all the anger that had accumulated inside his heart for years. This didn’t mean that Spade wasn’t scared that history would be repeated again and Liviera wouldn’t walk to the same tragic end as in the last timeline; he was still so scared of this memory.

Spade only chose to trust his omega father this time. Liviera had undergone a change in his opinion of life, and he wasn’t as destructive as before. Their conversation really helped a lot to ease both of their sufferings and misunderstandings.

It also helped build trust between them again.

"Let’s go. There’s no time to waste," Liviera calmly reminded them. His tone wasn’t as imposing as his status.

He acknowledges Levin’s leadership in this mission and wouldn’t bypass that authority even if he could. This was to let all the royal guards on this mission know the importance of this mission for him and everyone else.

Levin swallowed, and with a slight nod from Liviera, he commanded everyone to set out.

This mission was one of the few secret missions that would be conducted at the same time. This night was meant to be long for everyone else.

The start but also the potential end.

After a few minutes, a normal-looking small ship left the dock. No one knew that inside were the few influential individuals in the world.

Liviera stood on the deck. The evening wind was swaying his hair and clothes, but he only hugged himself as he continued to stand there and look at the empty horizon.

If one looked closely, his right hand was shaking as he grasped it. It could be that he was already getting cold or something else. Liviera’s emotions were as chaotic as they had been, but he could stay rational and calm on the surface.

"Your Majesty..." After hesitating, Levin approached Liviera on the deck. "It’s cold here... We will call you after we arrive." After Levin had informed the forces who were going on the same mission, he was informed that Liviera was standing there and no one dared to approach him.

Liviera blinked, snapping out of his thoughts, and he turned to face Levin. He shook his head and calmly smiled.

"I’m not cold." He declined and then tilted his head. "Do you know, Levin, what will happen to an individual if their mate dies before them?"

Levin was taken aback by this question, and his head lowered even further. He knew who Liviera was talking about. After he didn’t answer, Liviera was unsurprised about this as he continued.

Liviera shifted his attention again to the sight of the sea; it looked so empty, and this attribute also made it mysterious and scary at the same time. He blinked and watched what was before him.

"He became defective," Liviera added in a calm voice. "Something will be lost with the death of his mate."

His husband not only brought his heart with his death; he also brought along a part of Liviera’s senses. After his death, Liviera was in despair for a long time. It also didn’t help that he felt his sense of hotness or coldness disappear; slowly, his sense of touch became defective.

He no longer felt warm, hot, or cold. It was empty... just like his heart. Although this hardly made his life complicated, Liviera had suffered to adapt to it for years.

To the point, he once touched a scorching fire, but he didn’t feel any heat at all; even the pain was nonexistent. He only felt numb.

Levin’s heart had sunk again after listening to this, and his guilt was slowly surfacing once more. He wanted to say something, but he felt that he would choke once he opened his mouth.

"Levin..." Liviera eventually called after a moment of silence. "I’m not saying this to make you feel guilty; you don’t have to."

Liviera took a deep breath. "My history with your parents, if with them alone, And so..." His eyes, which were calm only a moment ago, showed a hint of contained madness. "Forgive me; I won’t hold back."

He told Levin frankly, without mincing his words. Levin bit his lips until he tasted iron. He could only close his eyes. Levin was not indifferent to his parents, especially his mother, but... His conscience just couldn’t let him favor them.

However, what Liviera said at the end made his eyes open.

"I won’t kill her... at least."

Liviera didn’t say anything else after that. For years, he had desired to kill the one who killed his husband. His blood was boiling with that desire.

However, his son woke him up. While he wanted revenge, Noreen... seemed to only be a tool as well. He hated her so much, but letting her go to die seemed... too easy.

No. Noreen would suffer for the rest of her life. He would make sure of it.

For Levin, even if he knew what Liviera truly felt for sparing his mother’s life, he was already satisfied with that. He didn’t want to see his mother die.

The journey to their destination would take a few more hours if they only used the fishing vessel. And so, when they were already mid-sea, something emerged from underwater.

It was a midget submarine. The operation this time was fully supported by the empire, and they were prepared to go all out. A huge submarine was already ahead of them and was now monitoring the island.

Some helicopters and ships were also on standby; even jets were ready to be deployed. This was all hidden, though, as they didn’t want a massive panic among the citizens before the battle began.

Their team wasn’t the only one with huge backups; almost all of the teams had important missions, such as the infiltration of organization bases.

After it arrived, Liviera and the others quickly made the necessary preparations.

The time was ticking; they had to hurry. They could only do a surprise attack once. The huge advantage was on their side because of Spade’s past memories.

Not long after they arrived on the island, the standby forces waiting for them immediately took the initiative as they fired. Sounds of gunshots and the smell of gunpowder immediately permeated the air.

The battlefield was on; this wasn’t only happening here but in a lot of locations that were marked red on the strategic map. These places were the most hidden and important bases for the organization.

The island where Princess Noreen was more like a tourist destination; aside from the armed guards, there weren’t any facilities here from the organization.

So, the battle was done as quickly as it started. Some men did a carpet check on the island for possible survivors. Most of the civilian staff were now kneeling and trembling as they all wept, pleading for mercy.

The imperial forces didn’t do anything to them after searching their bodies for weapons and any harmful substances. Once confirmed as unarmed, they were ordered to stay at the corner as they were surrounded by the royal guards and army, preventing them from trying anything funny.

On the other side, Liviera had already left the submarine and was led inside; Levin and the elite royal guards were guarding him.

Levin’s heart was pounding so hard; this was his first mission where he was so tense. After all, his mother was involved.

They stopped at a door before Liviera stopped.

"I’ll go alone."

Liviera’s request earned refusals from the guards.

"Your Majesty!" Levin called; his mother was inside, but he was now aware that she wasn’t as harmless as she seemed.

However, Liviera was firm in his decision.

"This is about me and her."

No matter what was waiting for him inside, he would end this chase once and for all.
