The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 301: Father and Son (3)
Chapter 301: Father and Son (3)
Spade shut his eyes and embraced Liviera. Their relationship couldn’t be easily mended with just one conversation, but that would be alright. As long as both of them were willing, at least the fractured parts could be fixed.
One thing that Spade had learned was that he didn’t need to hesitate any longer about the things that he should and wanted to do. He shouldn’t wait until the day that he will be asking himself what-if questions.
And so, he opened his heart to more possibilities. It might not be necessarily the time to fix everything that was broken, but slowly mending them was already a good step.
Both of them were not expressive, and they could only show what their mouths were unable to express.
As Spade and Liviera were slowly fixing their distant relationship, miles away from the capital, another father and son were having a serious conversation.
Unlike the former two, Rave and Ivo’s relationship didn’t grow distant just because they were apart for so long. To a certain extent, the familiar sentiment between them seemed to only grow because of the distance.
And they were eager to fill the gaps that each other’s absence had given them, as a son and as a father. Yet, there was also that missing piece that they longed to find after this long.
"Do you want to return?" Ivo’s gentle voice resounded beside the white-haired omega’s ears.
Rave, the white-haired omega, didn’t respond for two seconds before he gradually shook his head. His eyes were looking at the vast expanse of the sea.
The wind and breeze were touching his face and making his whole body feel cool as they stood on the deck of the ship. He turned his head and then looked at his father.
"I’m already assured that he’s now safe." Rave sincerely revealed his real thoughts.
Rave was now wholeheartedly acknowledging Arren as his friend. He was his one and only friend. A friend that he didn’t even know he would have or even deserve.
When he heard of the news that Arren was kidnapped, Rave almost wanted to return immediately and help find his friend. It was only that; he didn’t get permission to leave.
As part of the Black Intel, leaving while in the middle of the mission for personal reasons was strictly forbidden. He knew his responsibilities, and Rave had never violated any rules since he had become a royal attendant.
And yet, for a moment, he was already contemplating then how to leave without anyone noticing. Rave realized how he regarded Arren’s life as important to him.
In the end, Rave was unable to fulfill his intention, as it was his father who stopped him. He immediately calmed Rave’s chaotic emotions, and his being there couldn’t change the situation too much.
And now that they were in the middle of the ocean, it was even more unrealistic for Rave to leave.
Ivo brushed his son’s hair gently, and he stared at his son deeply. He was glad that his son already had a friend he cared about. Slowly, he was starting to create a relationship outside of his goal.
As a father, he never wanted to tie down his son to the troubles that he and his husband caused. They both never wanted their son to have a responsibility for finding them. And yet, they couldn’t change the past.
Ivo couldn’t blame his son for wanting to find them either. More than anything, he was happy to be with his son after so many years.
They both fell silent as they only watched the oblivion and the endless waters of the ocean. Their destination was still far, and they would stay on this ship for a few hours more.
"Papa," Rave’s voice called after a while.
"Hmm..."
Rave took a deep breath, and then he leaned on Ivo as he let his body be touched by the cold wind. Over the years, Rave has learned not to show his vulnerable side because he thinks he needs to be strong all the time.
And there wasn’t any need to show his weakness either. However, now that he was by his father’s side, Rave suddenly felt tired of maintaining his strong front.
Rave wasn’t that strong. When it came to his mentality, he even dared to claim that Arren was stronger than him. Rave’s ability to hide his emotions was the only thing that kept his strong front most of the time.
"Is..." Rave swallowed the lump in his throat, and he found himself unable to continue what he wanted to say.
He was confused. For a time, Rave began to ponder about this and that. Before, his goal was so clear to him. There wasn’t even a chance that he asked himself what he wanted to achieve.
He wanted to find his parents. That was a simple goal he had, but it was harder for them to achieve, and so for years, he lived with only that on his mind without even letting himself be distracted by anything.
Even to this day, Rave still knows what he wants, and that is to save and see his father so that they can finally be a complete family again.
There was one thing that changed, however, and that was that his desire began to grow within him. It was his desire that was completely unrelated to his current goal. It was a desire that Rave had forcefully ignored for so long.
Ah... I have this kind of emotion too.
Rave realized it at one point. And yet, he was confused as to what to do with it.
"Son,"
After Rave was unable to continue and kept silent for a few seconds, Ivo decided to speak at this moment.
Rave’s thoughts were immediately pulled out, and he looked at his father.
Ivo gave an assuring smile and rubbed Rave’s back gently.
"You don’t have to worry about us." Ivo didn’t know what exactly was on Rave’s mind or what was giving him a hard time, but it wasn’t difficult to suspect that it had something to do with that alpha.
It would be a lie if he wasn’t apprehensive about it at first; Ivo wasn’t oblivious to his son’s feelings. His opinion about it was complicated and at first, as much as possible, he didn’t want his son to be involved with that family.
And yet, it wasn’t up to him. He had been through so much, and Ivo didn’t have any right to stop his son from getting what he wanted for himself after so long.
"...Papa." Rave was suddenly at a loss for what to say. He knew what his father was talking about, but at the same time, talking about his own feelings was a completely new concept for him.
And for his father to say this, Rave couldn’t help but feel guilty.
"Son, Rave... Look at me." Ivo stared deeply at his son, and he made sure that Rave could hear what he was about to say, every word of it. "You’ve done a lot... for us. Me and your father, we know all your efforts, and there are even things we never dare to think of asking you.
"Rave, my son, it’s time for you to finally think of your future. After all of this is done, Rave, we won’t ever blame you for anything, ever. This is the least that I can do for you, and that is to support you." Ivo poured out his thoughts to let his son know of his stand.
Rave had given them so much of the part of his life, they had already occupied their son’s life for so long. Everything he desired, Ivo would gladly indulge him for it.
Rave opened his mouth about to respond, but then he closed it again, and this was repeated a few times. He just didn’t know the right words to say. freewёbnoνel.com
And in the end, he had managed to say anything, and tears began to fall from the corners of his eyes instead. He just found himself so emotional, and his heart was being squeezed so much that he wanted to cry.
If Arren saw him like this, he knew that troublesome Omega would tease him forever for it. And yet, Rave couldn’t stop; all the pent-up emotions inside him suddenly surged and flooded him to the point that he felt he was drowning in his emotions.
"...Papa, I..." Rave was gasping for breath; his tears endlessly fell in his eyes. The way he was crying was different from that time when he finally saw his father after so many years; there wasn’t any hint of joy or relief in it.
Rave was crying so much in pain. He couldn’t understand it for quite a while. Why was he crying this much? But it was as if the feelings he had buried in the deepest part of his heart overflowed that he couldn’t take them anymore.
The corners of Ivo’s eyes quickly glistened with tears, seeing his son crying and yet being unable to stop no matter what he did. Rave was truly panicking with the tears and emotions that suddenly engulfed him without any warning.
He patted his son’s back, coaxing him through it.
"Just let it out, son. It’s okay to cry."
Rave’s sobs got louder because of this, as he weakly hit his chest as though trying to stop the pain that his heart was feeling.
"Why... Is this, Papa?" Rave wept, "Why am... I hurting so bad?"
Rave finally admitted what he had denied for a while. After that conversation they had, he had to acknowledge it.
"Papa, I..." Rave took a deep breath, tears falling in his eyes. "I... love him."
It was time to stop denying them. Rave loved Levin. And what made it so painful was that... It was hard for them to be together.
