The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 286: Not Again (2)
Chapter 286: Not Again (2)
This underground path was connected to the sewers, which would be the end of the path. It was damp, and there would even be occasional rats lingering around, but Arren wasn’t that scared about them, but instead, he began to observe the place.
Before, he could hardly walk, and even taking a step was as though his energy was being consumed massively. There was a pungent smell in the air, but Arren only scrunched his nose and never bothered with them again.
Other than the occasional light from the gaps, it was so dark inside. He used the wall again to support himself and increased his pace.
His energy had not been completely recovered, so as much as he wanted to rush himself, Arren had to think long-term. Escaping here didn’t mean that he was successful, as it would only be the start of his escape.
Arren had not forgotten his speculation that this city was somehow under the control of the organization, and even if it was not, their forces here were still enough to find him before he had the opportunity to leave the city and return to the capital.
At least for the time being, until that psycho returns, no one would be able to tell that he was not inside the room. Arren would not slack just because of this assurance, but instead, he purposely shortened his expectations to a mere few minutes before they discovered his absence.
His hand was the small tile; he didn’t know he had yet to throw it aside, but Arren decided to hold on to it for a while. After all, this could be considered a small weapon as well.
At some point, though, when he stepped into a familiar spot, it triggered something in his memory. Arren was momentarily halted in his tracks. This place was one of the most remarkable memories he had in this place.
This was the part when he met Princess Noreen.
Actually, he thought that his escape at that time would be hopeless again. Princess Noreen was someone who always complied with everything in that psycho’s will.
And just when he was feeling hopeless, as though proving her unpredictability, she didn’t reveal Arren’s whereabouts but instead... helped him.
Arren bit his lips at these memories. Even to this day, he didn’t know what her reason for helping him was. She accompanied Arren all the way to the palace as they used a hidden chamber to enter.
While he felt grateful about it, it didn’t mean that Arren forgave her. It only lessened her resentments against her and... She also felt sorry for her.
Princess Noreen was crazy, and yet... She was pitifully crazy.
After receiving his memories, Arren also understood his fear of her. Not as heavy as her husband’s sins, Noreen loved to watch Arren’s sufferings.
Arren always felt miserable and guilty whenever he saw her. Noreen was that psycho’s wife, and yet she never did anything to stop him like a loving wife should.
She should feel betrayed, right? Her husband was trying to mark someone’s omega, and it was her nephew’s omega, no less. And yet... she didn’t. Princess Noreen always made sure to let Arren know that he was a terrible person for being her husband’s ’mistress’, even if he was technically a victim in all this.
Princess Noreen had never hurt Arren physically, but the torment she inflicted on Arren mentally was equally traumatizing. He hated her just as much as Arren loathed her husband.
Arren shook his head, his tears threatening to fall again. He started walking again, but the last memories of his about the princess replayed like mad even if he wanted to stop it.
On the way to the palace, while they traversed the hidden path, Arren was almost like a zombie, as he walked only according to his desires. Princess Noreen had also never supported Arren, and she would merely look at him if he happened to stop and sob from his terrifying wounds.
Sometimes, if blood happened to gush out or trickle down from him, Noreen’s eyes would twinkle in such a horrifying manner.
He asked then, "Why did you save me?"
The princess didn’t answer, but she smiled.
"He’ll kill you," Arren then remarked in an almost lifeless tone, depending on who he was talking about; both didn’t need to mention his name to know.
This time, the princess laughed. Her face was brightening, yet her eyes flickered with something within before she responded.
"Dying for love, isn’t that romantic?"
Arren chuckled humorlessly as he recalled that answer. Lunatic. That was a good word to describe her.
Unknowingly, Arren reached the end of the path. The light from the gaps in the cover over his head shone on him. Arren sighed and bit his quivering lips.
He didn’t even mind the rotten odor from the water soaking his feet, which reached almost his knee. There was only one thing on his mind.
The first step was accomplished.

As Arren was climbing up the stairs to leave the sewers, it was also the time when Spade woke up from his dream. Unlike Arren’s, his dream was much longer, and it also took quite a while for Spade to recover from it.
When he opened his eyes, there were tears in his eyes, but he was only looking blankly at the ceiling. When he was seen by the attendants there, they all thought something was wrong with him and immediately called the on-duty Imperial Doctor.
They called for him, but Spade could not answer immediately; he was still looking blankly at the ceiling with his empty gaze. It was a bit hard to pull his consciousness from his memories back to this reality.
At first, he thought he was hallucinating. Truly, his condition before became so serious that no professionals could help anymore. And slowly, Spade’s self returned to him.
He ignored the clamoring of the doctors and his subordinates around him as he quickly sat up on the bed. Spade took a deep breath and shut his eyes. When he opened his eyes again, there was now a clear gaze on them.
"Arren..." he called his omega’s name, his tone filled with indescribable longing.
The subordinates and even the doctors were worried because this might be a sign that the emperor was having a hard time accepting Arren’s disappearance.
In a way, that was correct. However, he had not broken down this time. Having his memories returned, all that happened in the last timeline seemed to be so fresh in his memories, but he managed to differentiate between the past and current timeline.
Not again. Spade would not let the same tragedy happen again.
