"Are you better now Grandma?" George asked once Charlotte opened her eyes again and the older woman sat up. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared at everyone.
Atlas, her family was reunited again. The family she had prayed for for years was finally together.
"Alex." She called.
"Where’s my Alex?" Charlotte looked around till her eyes fell on the little boy standing next to his mama. He reminded her so much of Alanis while he was little.
Alex stared at the older woman wondering if he had done something wrong.
Charlotte felt so blessed as she stared at her great-grandson, now she could die a fulfilled woman and rest well knowing her family was now complete.
"Alex, say high to great grandma," Harlow whispered pushing him forward and the little boy went to where his grey grandma sat.
"Great-grandma," Alex called Charlotte cried as she hugged him. Her favorite person in this world. Her little Alex. His past life had been brutal, that is why she hadn’t blamed Harlow at all when she left. If anything, Charlotte was glad she did.
"Thank you." She mouthed to Harlow who went ahead to hug Charlotte too. She had missed her so much and was scared she would be mad at her.
Lia who stood at a corner with Liam in her hands couldn’t hold her tears either and she went ahead to hug the trio. It was such a beautiful moment, their family being together.
But one person was still not happy with whatever was going on. He had no idea how his family could just forgive and forget what Harlow did. To him, she’s a terrible person who deserves to be kicked out of their family for good.
"I’m so glad you’re back Harlow. Thank you for forgiving us all." Charlotte hugged her granddaughter-in-law.
"I’m sorry too grandma for that way I left," Harlow said.
"You did nothing wrong dear. You didn’t even do enough compared to what happened before. I have nothing against you Harlow." Charlotte said calmly.
"This is unacceptable." George barked.
"Don’t think because you returned with Alanis’s son that we would just accept you, Harlow. What you did was unforgivable." He yelled.
If no one was going to call out her bullshit, he was. She would not let this woman treat them like trash, walk away, and then just come back however she likes into their life again. freewёbnoνel.com
"Do you know how many months we suffered because of you Harlow?" George asked.
"That’s enough George," Alanis said but his brother was not ready to let go.
"No, it’s not. Just because you decided to turn a blind eye to it doesn’t mean I would." George yelled. "We suffered for crying out loud, we had to work double time."
"And what money did we use to build our inheritance back?" Charlotte was the one to ask this time and George suddenly turned speechless.
"O... Our inheritance." He said.
"And do you know Harlow was also in charge of that?" Charlotte asked. "The only thing she did was return the company to the way it was before she took over. She didn’t take your inheritance, neither did she steal the money we had." Charlotte continued.
"She gave back all of the money she made from the company and left with nothing. If she really wanted to do all of that, she would, but she didn’t."
"That doesn’t justify her actions."
"Nothing justifies what we all did to her," Alanis said.
"Alanis you were the perfect husband to her and she..."
"And what were you brother? Were you the perfect brother-in-law?" Alanis asked.
George could not believe his family was willing to go against him because of Harlow.
"I’m sorry," Harlow said. There was really no point explaining what she did. George and the rest would never understand. Only Alanis and Charlotte knew what had happened.
To George and the rest, she’s a despicable woman, and she wouldn’t blame them if they felt that way.
"There’s no reason to fight because of me. I’m sorry brother in law if I hurt you all with my actions." She said.
"I was not in the right frame of mind when it happened and I apologize deeply for it." She added.
George felt like a fool staring at her. Charlotte was right, what Harlow did was nothing compared to what they had done to her or the plans they all had for her.
"No matter what, you shouldn’t apologize Harlow. We all owe you an apology." Lia cut in. She didn’t like the way George just spoke to Harlow now.
"Harlow I’m sorry for all of the pain I caused you in the past. I had no idea you were a good person and had misjudged you."
"Come on, Lia, you already apologized a thousand times and I already forgave you long ago," Harlow said to her sister-in-law, but Lia shook her head in disagreement.
"That is not enough. An apology is not enough for what we did to you."
"Me too Harlow," George said calmly.
"I just realized how badly I treated you before. What you did is not enough punishment. Grandma is right, please forgive me." George said.
"Me too Harlow." All eyes turned to Frank. "Even if I’ve apologized a thousand times before, I will not stop apologizing. I’m sorry for everything I did to you my child, please forgive me too." Frank said.
"I’m not an exemption Villian," Alanis said calmly. "I’m really sorry for everything I did to you and our son. Thank you for forgiving me." Harlow’s eyes moistened at their words.
"I also have to apologize to you Harlow for hiding such important information in the past. I let my selfishness rule and forgot everything we went through together.
Then a little voice sounded. "I... I have wronged you too mother. I... I lied about my illness." Alex began.
"Daddy told me never to tell you till I die, but I can’t hide it anymore." Harlow glared at the man before her and Alanis glared at his son.
