Chapter 98: Chapter 98

Alexis turned back and forth on the bed, grunting at the feel of someone trying to wake her up. The society gala would begin at six pm. She wanted to get as much sleep as possible, before having to deal with the guests, including her family who was sure to come.

"Alexis." Keelion brushed the hair off her face. "Wake up."

She blinked her eyes open and looked up at him. "Keelion?"

"Yes, it’s me." He pulled her up to sit on the bed. "I want you to go somewhere with me."

"Somewhere?" she asked as he lifted her off the bed and walked her over to the dressing room.

She was already in sweats, so he made her wear his shirt, oversized for her.

"Where are we going?"

"Don’t worry, we won’t stay till the sun comes up. We’ll be back before then." Keelion popped close the buttons of the shirt and had her slip her feet into her pair of sneakers, then he opened the door to leave the room.

Alexis followed behind him, her bed hair a mess, but she couldn’t care less right now—because she was unsure where they were heading.

Her eyes rose to his frame.

He was in a leather jacket, worn above the high-neck top he had underneath. His pants were a tight black leather one with a fitted belt around the waist. He even had gloves and a boot on.

Where were they seriously going?

She’d never seen him dress so casually like that before—he was always in a suit—dressed so impeccable, anyone could say it was sort of intimidating.

Keelion pushed the door of the foyer open and pulled her out along with him towards the parking lots, with more than ten different brands of car.

"Keelion, where are we..."

Her voice trailed off as she watched him swing a leg over a matte black bike and fisted the handle. "Come here," he said to her.

Alexis hesitated for a second, eyeing the bike with a cocked brow. Since when did he ride bikes? She’d never even seen it in this place before.

"Alexis, what do you think I am?" It was as if he already knew what was going on in her mind.

She shrugged, approaching closer. "Nothing just didn’t think you did motorcycles. I mean you have tons of chauffeurs that drive you around. You’re The alpha," she pointed it out like it only made sense to her.

"You think because I’m the alpha, I don’t have personal interests?"

"That’s not what I’m saying."

He raised a brow at her. "If I looked at you, I wouldn’t think you had a talent for riding bicycles."

He was mocking her—she knew he was. His tone didn’t even need to indicate it.

Alexis glared at him and climbed over, grabbing his shoulders to propel her enough, before she sat down.

"I’m not going to fall off this thing, am I?"

"You’ve never been on a bike before?"

She slanted her head to get a look at his face and shook her head. "If a bicycle counts."

Keelion laughed, running his fingers through his hair. "Wear this." He handed a helmet over to her."

"What about you?" she asked.

"I don’t need it. But you need it."

Alexis collected it from him and put it over her head, locking it into place. Then she proceeded to loop her arms tightly around his waist.

"Are you okay back there?"

She nodded. "I think so."

"You think so?" He twisted his neck towards her. "Give me a definite answer."

"I am. I’m fine."

"Are you sure?"

She gave a nod. "I’m okay."

Keelion turned the engine on, a deep vibrating sound and he rode off through the opened gate and into the road.

"I feel like we’re going somewhere important. You could have dressed me better, you know?" Alexis shouted from behind him, arms coming tighter around his waist.

Keelion shrugged. "Where we’re going is private. You’ll be fine."

She pressed her head against his solid back and breathed out. The cold air was slapping heavily against her body, but thanks to the helmet, she didn’t have to close her eyes.

She wondered how he could ride without a helmet.

The street lights were all left on, and just as expected, there were barely any cars in sight. It was still one in the morning.

They took a sudden turn, and that’s when Keelion suddenly raised the speed of the bike, causing her to grip tighter onto him. Her heart was pounding inside of her, breath hitched as they rode forward, much faster and almost...carelessly.

The air was colder, thicker, and she shivered behind him.

Eventually, they slowed down, a bit bumpy but soon came to a stop.

"Are you okay?" Keelion asked.

Alexis let go of him and used his shoulder as a grip to hop off the bike. She nodded and took the helmet off. "Yeah, I’m fine. Well, I was, until you sped up."

Keelion stared at her, and his lips stretched into a smile.

"Where are we?" she asked, ruffling her curls as her eyes checked out their surroundings.

It was private like he’d said, there was not a single soul there. It was somewhat like a garden, which didn’t make sense, because how come it wasn’t public with how beautiful the place was.

"It’s a restricted zone. I’m the only one that comes here," Keelion said.

Beneath their feet were beds of flowers. "Why?"

"Because..." he trailed off. "Because..."

Alexis slowly lifted her gaze towards him. There was something in his eyes, something she was sure she’d seen before. Sadness.

Did this place mean something to him?

"Keelion? What’s...wrong?"

He didn’t answer, but instead, grabbed her hand and walked her further into the place, walls—a beautiful decoration of just flowers. They stepped up a few stone stairs until they stopped at a tombstone.

"It’s my mother’s grave," he finally answered. "Today is the date of her death."

Alexis flickered her eyes, a lump she suddenly couldn’t swallow, forming in her throat.

Keelion picked up one of the bouquets stored within the area and walked over to the tombstone with an inscription.

{Dianthe Fane. 30th of July}
