Chapter 114: Chapter 114

Amora snapped her gaze up to Augustus. "W-water. Can you get water for—"

Alexis coughed so much harder this time and along with it came out the mouthful of blood that she spurted. She gripped Amora, very much in the sort of pain she had never felt before.

"It hurts..." The bubbles of tears in her eyes broke. "Mating mark... It-It hurts."

"The mating mark?" Amora’s eyes flickered and she pulled Alexis’s forehead to her shoulder. She checked the mating mark and her eyes flickered so rapidly, her jaw dropped. "What in the world?"

"I’ve never...seen something like this before..." Augustus mumbled.

The formed mating mark at her neck was burning bright golden, almost like it could burn if it was touched. But that wasn’t what had them shocked out of their minds. It was the fact that the mark was bleeding. Profusely at that. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Her back was becoming a bloody mess.

"Oh, goddess. A-amora, we shouldn’t have done this." Keona began to pace back and forth in panic, tears boring in her eyes. "W-what if she died. Bloodloss, w-what if it kills her?"

"Calm down—"

"Calm down?" she snapped towards Augustus. "She’s about to die, and you’re asking me to calm down?"

"That’s not what I meant. I just—"

"Alexis."

The voice of Amora calling Alexis drew their attention.

"Alexis? Alex?"

But she was unmoving. The three glanced at each other.

"She’s not dead, is...she?" Kaelis felt like he’d swallowed a stone.

"Watch your mouth!" Keona bit at him and hurried over to fall on her knees, next to her sisters. She checked Alexis’s pulse and she was still breathing. It was beating and as soon as she confirmed it, everyone let out a deep breath of relief.

Augustus asked, "Will she be okay?"

"I don’t know." Amora shook her head. "We need to find someone. Someone who can help her. Lorcan, we have to speak to her."

The man nodded. "I agree. He’ll be here soon."

Drawing a deep breath, each of them decided to take a seat with their backs against the wall while they waited for Lorcan to come get them.

Amora held Alexis. She caressed her hair which was just the same curls as theirs and wiped at the blood on her mouth. Apologies burned in her eyes, but she couldn’t say a word.

"Is this what a mate bond is like?"

Keona shook her head and rested back against the wall. "I’ve never seen any like this." she glanced at Augustus who’d asked. "At most the alpha’s would lose their mind to some minor level. It’ll hurt of course and the same if for the omega. But I’ve never seen something like this. Mating mark bleeding, Keelion losing his mind to that extent. I’ve never seen something like that."

And this she knew, because she’d spent a lot of her time with Alexis when she was still a goddess in her past life. She watched with her while she assigned mates when mates rejected each other, and when mates were forcefully separated. She’d seen it countless times, but something like this...no, she had never seen it.

"I didn’t think it was going to go this far..." Amora mumbled.

Keona looked at her. "Amora..."

"Maybe, we should have been more careful. There would be no point to all of this if she dies on us."

"That won’t happen," she snapped with a frown on her face. "Alexis won’t die on us. Once Keelion is gone, we are going to find someone to help her, alright?"

Silence fell between them and after what seemed like seconds, Augustus sighed heavily. "Keelion...he’ll be fine...right? Nothing’s going to happen to him, right?"

Keona glanced at him and shook her head. "N-not from the vision. It didn’t show that anything would happen to him. Of course, things might change, but it always has the same ending. The vision doesn’t lie. Keelion will be okay. He’ll be hurt throughout the process of all this, but he’ll be okay. H-he’s strong...he’s special."

"Special?"

"Mhm." She nodded.

"How do you mean?" Augustus asked.

"I can’t explain. I don’t have a way to do so. You just have to watch."

He peered intently at her and then suddenly asked. "What is this vision thing? How do you predict everything? What are you two?"

Keona shot Amora a glance before looking at him. "I cannot explain to you what the vision is. That is confidential. And as for what we are. That is a funny question."

"How so?" this time, Kaelis chirped in.

"Well—" Keona shrugged. "—My sister and I are omegas just like every other omegas. I’m sure either of you can tell."

"Of course," Augustus agreed. "But there is just something about you two that doesn’t make any sense to me. For an omega, you’re far too strong, far too intimidating, enough to keep a man like Lorcan Zarr in place."

Keona stared at him. She averted her gaze and curled her knees to her chest. Amora was holding onto Alexis, caressing her arms and soothing her. "I don’t have an explanation for that. I suppose we are just born different. Is it so uncanny to you that you’ve found the first omegas to be stronger than alphas?"

"Uncanny?"

"Yes. You don’t actually believe that an omega could possibly be more powerful than an alpha, do you?"

Before Augustus could answer, Kaelis spoke. "It’s impossible."

Keona arched a brow at him and then chuckled. "It might surprise you when you realize my sister and I are not the first." She pointed at Alexis. "In fact, she is the first."

Both men shifted their gazes to the unconscious Alexis and glanced at her.

"What?" Kaelis blinked. "She doesn’t even—"

"Yes, yes." Keona rolled her eyes. "Patience is all you need to have. There is a reason my sister and I are both risking our lives for her. You two don’t know just how lucky you are. Had it been in any other scenario, you wouldn’t even be worthy to see her face alone. Don’t think into it though, because I won’t explain myself."

Kaelis and Augustus crossed gazes and he shrugged, lowering his gaze to the cold wooden floor beneath them.
