Chapter 960: THE FINAL BATTLE (26)

Aliana took Abby’s baby, because she looked like she was going to faint. They had run for hours now and they couldn’t afford to fight a monster, even more if there was a horde of them.

Abby also was not in a good condition, she ran out of strength and the magic users were rather useless without the magic stones and the Sylph.

This wouldn’t do, they needed to find a way out, but where they had to go? At this point, there was nowhere safe for them.

"I think, we need to keep heading south, Aliana," Joel said. "The red smoke spread from the Capital City to Red Claw pack and then Golden Light pack. If we kept heading south, I think we can avoid the poisonous miasma."

"You are right," Aliana said breathlessly. Her head was spinning. The poisonous miasma had not yet purified completely from her body. She looked around. She was rather familiar with this area because they set a base here when they fought alongside Red Claw pack warriors against the royal. "Let’s go here."

Aliana led the way, as the rest of them followed. The scouts went ahead to inform them whether the path was safe or not, with that, they could avoid an encounter with monsters and took another way if the poisonous miasma blocked their path.

"I can’t move..." Zale protested. He laid down on the ground, staring at the night sky. After the storm and everything that happened, the sky looked clearer now. "I am so exhausted..." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

After more than five hours purged Decratic’s body, all of them felt out of strength.

"Even in his death, he still managed to make other people miserable." Lou stretched his body. He then walked toward Cane, who was still cradling Iris in his arms. He didn’t move at all, until Lou thought he and Iris had turned into statue. "How is she?"

"Sleeping," Cane replied without lifting his head to look at the merchant.

Lou then crouched down and took Iris’s hand to check her condition. The alpha frowned when he touched his mate, but he didn’t say anything.

"She is fine. The babies are fine too." Lou tilted his head. "She overused her power and now she is sleeping to recover her energy." He didn’t want to inform Cane directly, thus he spoke as if he was talking to himself.

With this proximity, no matter how faint he talked, Cane would be able to listen to him. After that, Lou stood up and walked toward Redmond. He frowned at the warrior. He should be the one that had Kellan’s head, while Kellan’s body was with Zephyr and Dean. It was still moving, but barely, since the two of them tied it tightly.

"Where is that head?" Lou looked around. Redmond was sitting alone here.

Kellan stopped cursing hours ago, where Lou thought he finally got tired, but he couldn’t see him anywhere.

Lou didn’t want to deal with his body. He wanted to hear his scream when he destroyed him.

"There." Redmond nodded at his feet and stomped his feet on the ground. "I buried him. Too noisy. If you wanted him, you can dig him out."

Lou scowled, but Redmond refused to dig the head from the ground. He chose to lay down and close his eyes. "I am too tired for extra labor," Redmond said.

The merchant couldn’t believe that. He was the one, who had been working for hours, but this warrior had the audacity to say he was the one, who tired.

However, Lou knew better that Redmond wouldn’t do it, thus he dug the head himself, cursing in every movement, but for Redmond it was akin to a lullaby.

Redmond stared at the sky. There were so many warriors died. There was no wonder if the population of the shifter would dwindle after this war.

He knew this was part of the consequences of the war, but then he felt really numb to know most of the warrior from the Blue Moon pack didn’t make it. He didn’t know how to feel about it.

No matter how weird it might sound, he felt responsible for them, they were the people that he grew up with and he was the one, who brought them with him in this war and all of them died.

Right now, he only felt so numb, because he was the only one that survived.

"Can you tone down your curse? I want my peace."

Lou scrunched his nose when he managed to get Kellan’s head. Redmond buried him so deep, Lou was pissed beyond word.

"Hah! Got you!" Lou grabbed Kellan’s hair and took him away. He needed a private moment with this head.

Kellan’s head filled with sands and he couldn’t even open his eyes or make a sound, since his mouth filled with it.

But, when Lou took the head with him, as he walked away from the rest of them, Cezi came to him.

"I will help you to destroy it," Cezi said. "I have unfinished business with him too." He would take revenge on behalf of his sister and all the children that Kellan had hurt.

"No." That was a curt answer. He had spent half an hour to get this bastard out of the ground by himself, there was no way he would give it up, he didn’t even want to share. "I have unfinished business too with him."

Lou might not care what Kellan had done to Cezi’s sister or the rest of the children, but he did care for what he had done to Iris. Good thing Cane didn’t interfere with him to get his part.

If the alpha wanted it, Lou might consider it, but Cezi? There was no chance, he was going to share.

"Go and play with his body there." Lou pointed Kellan’s body. "His head is mine."

After saying that, he walked away and Cezi didn’t follow him. The merchant made it sounded there was no room for negotiation.

"Now, it’s only you and me. Happy?" Lou held the head with both of his hands, he smirked at Kellan mirthfully. The merchant looked deranged to say the least. "Let’s have fun!"

Lou was whistling as he took the head away from them.

"What do you think he was going to do with the head?" Ethan approached Redmond after the head had gone with the merchant.

"I don’t know. Don’t care."

Ethan then looked at Cezi walked toward Kellan’s body and destroyed it with the remaining strength he had. There was no torture or anything, the alpha from Celestial Moon pack just got rid of it, but you couldn’t say the same thing with what Lou was going to do with Kellan’s head.

Not long after, Jace returned with Pax and Lil Thing. The lazy bear pulled a small carriage behind it.

"Cane, we found a carriage, we can move now." Jace approached Cane. Thankfully, most part of the Celestial Moon pack didn’t get the impact of Decratic’s backlash, thus they still could find this carriage.

"Let’s move and find the other," Cane said. He lifted Iris in his arms carefully, as she snuggled against his chest, subconsciously aware she was safe with her mate.
