The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter-Chapter 950: THE FINAL BATTLE (16)
Chapter 950: THE FINAL BATTLE (16)
Iris.
This place was the place, where they made love for the first time. Not out of desire, not out of coercion, but because they truly loved each other.
This was the place, where they were being honest with their feeling for the first time. Cane took her here and here, in this place, he found her again. Or rather, it was Iris, who finally found him...
"Iris..."
The moment the name escaped his lips, all the pieces fell into the right place. The constant nagging feeling that he felt all this time, the life he had been living during this past ten years and everything that he knew, collapsed.
It was an illusion.
Now when everything was as clear as day, Cane’s surrounded faded away. The beautiful lake with white grass disappeared from her sight, where it was replaced by a sight of an angry commotion.
Cane looked around and watched how people around him was very angry about something, but he didn’t really get what they were saying. They screamed something, but he couldn’t understand.
It took him sometime to realize that they were talking in Andel language. They didn’t seem to notice him there.
Cane was sure this was not his memories, he had never experience something like this before and thought he was in one of the illusions when he saw a man was being tied in a pole, while the people lit fire around him.
This was not his memory, but Lu’s.
Cane couldn’t see Lu’s face clearly because of the fire, but he could see his red eyes, filled with malice. They filled with a lot of hatred and anger, but even when he could kill them all in a single move, the lycan didn’t do anything, he hissed viciously at them, but didn’t try to free himself from his predicament.
Or perhaps, he couldn’t... what held him back? How could he couldn’t escape from that situation? Something didn’t seem right.
Cane ended up watching how Lu met his demised and then his surrounding darkened and it changed again.
Right now, he was standing in this dark room. He couldn’t even see his own feet, but weirdly enough, he could see a man, who was sitting on the floor not too far from him. He hugged his knees and lowered his head.
"Lu?" Cane called him, somehow the name just slipped from his lips and when the man lifted his head, a pair of red eyes stared back at him. He was indeed Lou.
And the moment he stared into his red eyes, Cane felt like his body was being sucked into a whirlpool of emotions and by the time he opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was this tacky red color. Someone was talking to him, or rather cursed at him, though he didn’t know what he was saying, but this made him frowned.
What the hell was happening?
"Damn! You are awake?! Damn you, Cane, you are just awake now?!" Lou clapped his hands in front of his face to get his attention, which annoyed the alpha. "Hey! Hey! Don’t fall back to sleep again!"
Cane swatted his hand and pushed the merchant away from his face. He felt very tired, but his mind was sharp enough to remember everything that happened.
"Iris?"
That was the first thing that he said, as he pushed himself up from the bed and felt the sharp pain on his head and shoulders, the room was spinning. Was he in one of his dreams again?
However, Lou’s voice kept irritating his ears and once he gathered his composure, Cane could see that he was still in the same room, Lou was still standing too close for his liking.
"Here, drink this." Lou handed him a glass of water. "You have been unconscious for months."
"What?" Cane took the glass and groaned when he felt the sharp pain on his shoulders and Lou came closer to check on it.
"Hm." He touched his chin. "I am not a healer, but I guess, somehow, your healing ability is suck now. This wound should have been healed long ago, but you still have it." Lou poked the wound and Cane almost clawed him if he didn’t dodge it quickly. "It’s still hurt too..." He observed.
Cane glanced at his shoulders and saw that his upper body had been bandaged tightly and there was trace of blood there.
"Tell me everything," Cane said. He gritted his teeth. The pain on his shoulder was annoying at most, it was still bearable.
"Let me get you something to eat first. It happened to me before, I just woke up and someone dumped all the information on me. Not a good experience."
"Tell me everything," Cane repeated what he said. He couldn’t care about food. He wanted to know where Iris was and what happened when he fell unconscious.
"Okay, if you insisted." Lou sat down again at the chair and recalled everything that had happened in the past five months.
While listening to Lou, Cane looked around and took a note of this room. This place looked tidy, but you could tell that they just cleaned this abandoned place recently.
"You should thank the lizard, you know. Without it, you would have been burned into ashes, just like the rest of the monsters, the knights and the people from the Holy Kingdom." Lou nodded at the lizard that currently was sleeping on top of the table next to the bed.
Apparently, they managed to find Cane when Lil Thing found the Lizard. That was right, they took Lil Thing with them too. With that, they followed the lizard that actually bring them to where Cane was.
They were surprised to see his condition and was even more shock when they found him still alive. But, no matter what they did, they had done all the thing that they could think of as the people with limited knowledge of healing, Cane still didn’t wake up.
Though he was still breathing, which was a good sign too.
They couldn’t come close the Capital City because of the barrier that Decratic put around it, but they couldn’t go back either because the way back during winter was extremely harsh. They probably wouldn’t make it through the Untouched Land during this season.
More so, blizzard occurred a few times in that land. Even Derick and Cezi didn’t recommend them to go through the Untouched Land and waited until the winter ended, especially with Cane’s condition. He wouldn’t be able to make it.
Therefore, they couldn’t go forward, neither they could go back.
They were stuck here and was barely able to make it, since their food supply ceased to exist. The moral of the warriors dropped very low. They seemed to think of death more often, saying goodbye to each other as a joke, which didn’t sound funny at all after repeating it a few times.
"Iris?" Cane wanted to know about his mate first.
"We believed she is with Decratic. The barrier is created to keep her inside." Lou frowned. "She must be due in a few weeks now."
Cane didn’t need to be reminded of that. He couldn’t even be angry to himself. Once again, he put her and their babies in a great danger.
"The divine power you have?" Cane narrowed his eyes at Lou.
"We have tried a few times. Didn’t work." Lou shrugged his shoulders. He knew what Cane meant.
Lou, Cedric, Cezi and Zale had tried to use the divine power to breakthrough against the barrier, but it didn’t work at all, if anything, Decratic must have known someone tried to get into his protection, where he sent his followers to get them.
"I can say that being mind controlled was not a good experienced."
The mind controller used their warriors to fight against each other and thankfully, the divine power could break the spell. But, in that case, they became even more careful to try to break the shield again. They couldn’t afford to have their people under this mind control thing.
"What about Rei?" That man was as dangerous as Decratic.
"We didn’t see him and assumed he died during the backlash. I am not sure. I was not there, you were the one there."
Cane listened to that silently and they heard the commotion from the outside.
"Another fight." Lou rolled his eyes. "I told you right that their moral hit the lowest point? From the look of it, they seemingly wanted to kill each other in the first chance given."
The commotion grew louder and Lou stood up to see what they were fighting for, but Cane stood up with him too.
"You don’t need to come, this is every day thing."
Yet, Cane wouldn’t listen. He stood up with the merchant and surprisingly, he looked better than Lou expected.
"Don’t you feel any pain?" Lou frowned. When he fell unconscious for a few days, he needed a few more days to recover. He didn’t even want to get off the bed, but Cane not only demanded to listen to the whole things that had happened, but he actually woke up and started to deal with the problem. "Geez. I pity myself to feel sorry for you before."
The warriors were surprised to see their alpha had woken up, they were speechless, thinking they saw thing when he walked in front of them and went out of the house to figure out what was happening out there.
The sky looked bleak, this must be afternoon in the winter and the cold temperature actually felt refreshing for Cane, it kept his mind alerted even more.
Outside of this house, there were three people, bickering, shouting at each other. Zale, Cedric and one of the warriors.
From what they talked about, Zale seemed to have a fight with the warrior and Cedric was there to stop thing before it escalated, but it would be dangerous for the knight if Zale and the warrior shifted into their beast and started to fight.
Which happened shortly.
"Shift back!" Cane roared when he watched them shifted into their beasts. His thunderous roar startled everyone there and Zale and the warrior shifted back, because Cane used the alpha’s voice, which put them in a great pain if they didn’t follow his command.
"Alpha!"
"The alpha is awake!"
"The alpha is here!"
After stretched out silence, all of them cheered to see their alpha was awake. They forgot the fight between Zale and the warrior.
"Cane!" Ethan suddenly jumped from behind him and hugged him, which made Cane groaned, because the pain on his shoulders, but the gamma simply didn’t want to let him go. "Cane! I missed you! This is you, right?!"
Ethan looked at Cane’s black eyes and felt very excited to know it was him and not Lu, since the lycan used to come first whenever Cane just woke up from bad injuries.
All the warriors greeted their alphas and it seemed, to see Cane again had lifted their moral and for the first time in months, they looked like they had hope again.
Cane pushed Ethan away from his face. Why would they keep getting on his face?
"I want to see the shield." Cane didn’t waste his time at all. He was going to get his mate. She was due in a few weeks.
Decratic wouldn’t kill Iris, he was sure about that, but he couldn’t tell the same about their babies. If Iris was still pregnant, he didn’t have a lot of times before their babies were here.
He had to get her before her due.
But, if their babies were no longer with them, he still had to get Iris out of Decratic’s grasp. This was not over yet. He was going to kill him even if it cost his life.
"Don’t you want to eat first?" Lou asked when he saw Cane demanded to be taken to the shield.
