Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy-Chapter 82: Katty II
Chapter 82: Katty II
They got out because the woman with the sword cut them out of their ice. It took time, but they did it the quickest way they could. Unlike the others’ power, she could swing her sword with superhuman strength. There was no Etherion needed.
"What are we going to do now?" Katty asked. Her arrogance was gone, and now she looked solemn. The sound of battle could be heard in different parts of the building.
Lito hesitated. "Can you feel it? The temperature is going down faster and faster. That artifact is going to turn this area into a block of ice soon."
"Not only that," the man said. He raised his hand, and his middle finger turned into a vine. "It’s freezing the Etherion too. Soon only the Kareth family will be able to use their powers here."
Lito came to a quick decision. She knew her other subordinates were probably dead already. She could only focus on the ones with her, the real powers behind her.
"We are going all out to get out of here," she said. "We will fight our way through. And since my powers still work within the territory, we will get as far away from the building as possible and fight the rest of the way out."
A portal soon hung before them, showing the outside.
What was once a vibrant land with green trees and grass was now a frozen place. Black frost covered everything, and a heavy fog of darkness hung in the air like a shroud.
It was as if it wasn’t the same place as before.
Katty shuddered, her eyes turned slitted. "I don’t like the cold."
Lito faced them. Gone was the uncertainty. Her face was now serious and pensive. "This is my order. I want you guys to fight as if you’ve never fought before. We must leave this place alive. The Kareth have provided us with an opportunity. The organization will be restructured after this.
"We will make use of it. But first, we must survive."
With that, she went into the portal, and the others went with her immediately.
If the inside had been bitter cold, the outside chilled their bones and made their blood cold and slow. The man cursed. "Shit. How do they even know of this place?"
Everything was covered by a black fog that made it difficult to see, but with Lito’s ability, they knew they must be far from the building and close to leaving the territory.
"Do you catch anything, Katty?"
She shook her head. Her body was now covered in thick white and black striped fur, and her ears lengthened. Her slitted eyes glowed a soft yellow. "The cold is messing with my sense of smell."
Lito raised her hand and created another portal again, but it was blank and unusable.
"At least we can tell that we can’t move forward in the same direction again with the portal. We will go that way."
And they did.
They huddled together and moved in the direction, their feet crunching frosty ground and the cold winds howling in their ears.
Suddenly they stopped walking and stiffened.
It wasn’t the cold.
They felt a flash of bloodlust that felt like heat in the storm.
"What is that..." the man said.
Even with their levels and powers, they couldn’t see more than four feet in front of themselves. Everything else was a bloated darkness.
But they felt something move in front of them, a mass of darkness that was even darker than the fog.
"Get ready for battle," Lito said, her hand glowing a soft purple.
The man raised his hands. The two turned into thick vines that squirmed and twisted in the air, curling around like a snake.
Katty raised her two hands, and claws jutted out. Black claws that looked like steel.
And then there was the sword woman, silent as ever, but her sword ever ready.
They stopped walking.
And at first, there was silence.
But then the howls began.
Wolves?
The sounds were so strong that they reverberated against their skin and made their bones shake.
"No... it can’t be."
Although Jitome Kareth is the family head of the Kareth family, he wasn’t in any way the strongest person. In fact, unlike some other families, the Kareth family passes their leadership to the firstborn only.
Male or female.
It doesn’t matter.
This way, everyone knows their place, and there’s no unnecessary fight that will tear the family apart.
Jitome Kareth has a sister who’s stronger than him.
The Alpha Ice. Rinex Kareth.
Everyone who’s heard of the Kareth family has heard of her, but she’s someone that doesn’t involve herself in family matters that much. In fact, she’s instead obsessed with training.
Just then, as the howls around them increased, the fog cleared away, peeling as if a giant hand was used to scoop it from the place.
Just as Lito feared, they were surrounded by wolves.
Wolves as tall as humans, with eyes that shone with dark luster. They looked so lifelike that if one did not look closely, they could be mistaken for things that are alive.
But they were made of ice.
And on the biggest wolf was a woman. She was leaning on it on the ground. The fur of the creature was curling around her as if it was alive and not made of ice.
She held a shield to her chest and was hugging it.
Lito knew then. They were dead.
The Kareth family are one of the most powerful in the Empire. They have their own territory that they govern. They have the title of a Grand Duke, and even though they don’t behave like most of the other nobles, their powers are undeniable.
And standing in front of them was one of the elders of the family, the youngest elder in the history of the family, and she made it just with her own powers.
And one of the High Eminent rank that the Empire has.
Everyone froze and just stared at her.
What they saw in her was death. Their own.
Katty shuddered. "I really do hate the cold."
