Star Odyssey-Chapter 3561: A Way Out
Chapter 3561: A Way Out
Lu Yin looked away and stared off into the distance. "Those women are still waiting for you, yet you show no concern about your current situation. Have you already come to the conclusion that we won’t kill you?
"I’ve been to the Ascendant Hall, and the High Seraph never even mentioned you. Now that I’m telling you this, you don’t show even a hint of surprise.
"On top of that, you stayed here in the Hundred Grasses Domain even after becoming the High Seraph’s disciple. You’ve attracted many women and made sure to have many people’s attention on you. Don’t you want to quietly focus on your cultivation?"
Yu Shan still said nothing.
"Your behavior is quite strange, to the point where it’s piqued my curiosity." Lu Yin looked back at Yu Shan while gently tapping a finger. A spiral of karma shot out, instantly entering Yu Shan.
The man’s eyes bulged. "What did you just do?"
Lu Yin observed the Karmic Lines that appeared above Yu Shan’s head. More spirals entered the man as Lu Yin attempted to make sense of Yu Shan’s motivations.
The Karmic Lines collided with each other. While this allowed Lu Yin to make out aspects of Yu Shan’s life, no answers could be seen.
Lu Yin did not know Yu Shan, and they did not have any friends or acquaintances in common. The only possible person that connected the two was the High Seraph.
Lu Yin dropped his hand, indifferently commenting, "I’m going to guess that you stayed in the Hundred Grasses Domain, and even why you remain here hanging from Boundless so calmly, is all to avoid the High Seraph."
Yu Shan’s pupils shrank, though his expression did not change at all.
Lu Yin continued, "I don’t know why, and I also can’t say if this is merely some deliberate act that you’ve put on to escape from Boundless, but there’s no denying that you’ve stayed in the Hundred Grasses Domain longer than you should have. So, I’ve decided to let you go."
Yu Shan was surprised. "Are you really going to let me go?"
Lu Yin smiled. "I originally captured you in order to offend the people here in the Spirit Nidus. To put it simply, I wanted to make trouble. Now that I’ve become a Seraph, stirring up trouble is useless. Aside from the High Seraph and maybe a few others, no one will make trouble for me. You’ve lost your value, so of course I can let you go.
"Not only will I let you go, but I’ll also publicly announce that the High Seraph personally intervened on your behalf and that I gave him a bit of face. After all, you are his disciple."
Lu Yin then looked back at Yu Shan. "What do you think? Aren't you happy?"
Yu Shan stared at Lu Yin and slowly asked, "Really?"
"Of course."
"Good. Then I’ll leave." A ripple of power spread out from the man’s body, freeing him of the tree branch and causing him to float in mid-air. He was poised to flee at any moment.
Lu Yin did nothing to stop the man, and he instead turned to stare off into the distance.
Yu Shan’s eyes remained fixed on Lu Yin. "Are you really letting me go?"
Lu Yin’s brow furrowed. "Stop nagging me and just leave! You’re worthless to me now."
Yu Shan’s body flickered before disappearing. He had left Boundless.
Once the man was gone, Ce Wangtian walked over to Lu Yin while pinching his nose. "That was pretty impressive, huh? He got away."
Lu Yin shrugged. "I’m just making a guess. If he runs, then so be it. We can recapture him whenever we want."
Ce Wangtian rolled his eyes.
"Senior, please go to the Heavencraft Domain."
"For what?"
"To collect spirit seeds."
Ce Wangtian blinked. "You want to collect more spirit seeds? Do you want to gather resources with your authority as a Seraph?"
Lu Yin smiled at the older man. "Of course! The more, the better."
Ce Wangtian pulled out an astral chart and carefully examined it. "The Heavencraft Domain is pretty far from us, and it’s also quite close to the Ascendant Hall. Will you be allowed to gather resources from there?"
"How far they are means nothing. I, Seraph Lu, require resources, and so I am allowed to gather them."
Ce Wangtian cackled. "So domineering! I admire your new attitude. Fine, I’ll go. Right, what if they refuse to listen?"
"Are you saying that people might disobey a Seraph?"
"Yes."
"That’s a serious offense here in the Spirit Nidus."
"Then don’t blame me if things get out of hand."
"Use the power that you used when deceiving Big Sis."
Ce Wangtian was left speechless. "I didn’t deceive her! I’ve already explained this to her many times—I kicked her off of the tree to prevent her from going to die at the Immemorial Citadel."
Lu Yin patted the man on the shoulder. "Go on back and explain that to my sister. Even I don’t believe you."
Ce Wangtian gave a heavy sigh. "I don't know if I’ll ever have the opportunity to go back alive. Forget it, my life is one of hard work."
With that, the man left Boundless.
Lu Yin stared at Ce Wangtian’s back as he disappeared into the distance. Go back? All of them wanted to return. Who did not wish to go home?
Old Yu’s words echoed in Lu Yin’s mind.
If the two megaverses joined forces to reset the Consciousness Megaverse, it would allow people from both the Spirit Nidus and the Tianyuan Megaverse to have a chance to enter the Immortal realm. While there was no question that the Spirit Nidus would surpass the Tianyuan Megaverse in terms of their Immortals, Immortality was the end of cultivation. After reaching that level, the future would no longer matter, and the Spirit Nidus would no longer have any need to destroy the Tianyuan Megaverse.
While that would mean that the Tianyuan Megaverse would always be overshadowed by the Spirit Nidus, Boundless would be allowed to return, and Lu Yin’s home megaverse would be saved.
If this was truly possible, would Lu Yin agree to it?
The other option was to fight to the death against the Spirit Nidus with the rest of the people aboard Boundless. Should they chase after a possibility of their megaverse surpassing the Spirit Nidus?
Lu Yin did not know the right answer.
There was too much in the Spirit Nidus that he knew nothing about and too much deception as well. This was not Lu Yin’s home, the Tianyuan Megaverse. He wanted to return home as well.
After a moment of silence, Lu Yin let out a breath. His eyes regained their focus, as if he had made a decision.
"Sovereign Dou Sheng, Progenitor Xi, go to the Consciousness Domain. There, gather resources in the name of Seraph Lu," Lu Yin's voice echoed across Boundless, causing everyone to look up at him.
"Chu Yi, go to the Wisdom Domain.
"Old Tao, go to the Celestial Hand.
"Mu Zhu, go to the Vast Qian Domain.
"Wilderness God, take the Megalith and go to the Alin and Cloudcrane Domains.
"Lu Tianyi, take the Pridebeast to the White Orchid and the Augury Domains..."
Orders were given, one right after the other. Chu Yi and everyone else left Boundless, moving out in all directions. They understood Lu Yin’s purpose. They were to collect spirit seeds and destroy them, thus weakening the Spirit Nidus’s future potential.
This was a smart thing to attempt, even if the ultimate results were less than impressive.
Of the thirty-six domains, only a few would be able to avoid Lu Yin’s efforts.
The Seven Seraphs had the authority to gather and move the Spirit Nidus’s resources, and Lu Yin intended to collect as many spirit seeds as possible. He wanted to see if the High Seraph would intervene.
Lu Yin really wanted to understand the High Seraph’s bottom line. It was important to learn if the man had told the truth. Lu Yin needed to know if the only reason he had not touched Lu Yin was out of fear of Master Qing Cao.
Lu Yin suddenly hoped that the High Seraph would do something. At least then the man’s limits would be revealed.
Before long, someone approached Boundless. It was Yu Shan. He had not gone far from Boundless or stayed away for very long. He had actually been watching from nearby.
Lu Yin was still standing at the battleship’s bow when he saw Yu Shan. "It looks like I was right."
The expression on the other man’s face was far from pleasant. "You’re not just strong."
Lu Yin chuckled. "Thanks for the compliment."
Yu Shan’s voice was bitter. "To let me go, you must be quite confident."
Lu Yin shook his head. "You're wrong. I’m not confident at all. I was just guessing. What made me appear confident is the fact that you truly hold no value to me. If you want to leave, then just go. I don’t care."
Yu Shan scoffed at himself. "I’m ranked second on the White Spirit List, and yet I hold no value to you.
"It’s true. You, the Grandverse Manor’s Third Boss, have already defeated many of the Spirit Nidus’s most powerful experts. Both Ortusers and Dukkhans must avoid you on sight. Why would you care about a mere sequence powerhouse like me?"
The man stared intently at Lu Yin. "I’m guessing that, not only were you willing to let me go, but you would have also followed through and announced that you had only done so to give my master face, which would have forced me to return to the Ascendant Hall and thank him. You gave me no choice but to come back here."
Lu Yin clasped his hands behind his back. "Tell me why."
Yu Shan hesitated. Finally, he released a heavy sigh and sat down. "I regret what I did, targeting the Hundred Grasses Domain and ruining it.
"Back then, I knew that my master hated the Seraph of the Hundred Grasses, so after thinking it over, I found a person and a comment that I could use to support my master. My gamble paid off. I was already a famous genius in the Spirit Nidus, and with one person and one comment, I managed to become my master’s disciple. At that moment, I reached the peak that all cultivators dream of.
"I was guided by my master, and I even learned his Nine Heavens Transformation, earning the envy of everyone in Spirit Nidus.
"To tell you the truth, I had a senior brother back then."
Lu Yin looked up. "Yu Chong, ranked first on the White Spirit List."
Yu Shan nodded. "That’s right, he was first on the White Spirit List. His name was Yu Chong, and he’s dead."
"He died long ago. You were ranked second even then and could have taken the first rank, but you insisted on staying in second place. Doing that earned you a great deal of admiration. Your level of hypocrisy is quite amazing," Lu Yin said admiringly.
Yu Shan shook his head. "That was not hypocritical. I really didn’t want to take my senior brother’s place. He was always good to me. Did you know, while my master taught me the Nine Heavens Transformation, the one who truly guided my cultivation was my senior brother?
"But my senior brother died. I don’t know how he died, but before he left, he told me something." Yu Shan looked up at Lu Yin, immense fear in his eyes. "He told me that, if he one day died, he would likely have been killed by my master."
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. "So, you decided to hide in the Hundred Grasses Domain?"
Yu Shan nodded. "I don’t know why my master killed my senior brother, or how my senior brother knew that it would happen. Regardless, he warned me. I didn’t want to follow in his footsteps, so I’ve been hiding in the Hundred Grasses Domain ever since. While here, I made a point to attract those women to make myself as visible to the public eye as possible, all to avoid being targeted by my master.
"I know that my master is more than capable of killing me silently and without a trace, but I don't have any other choice. This was the only way that I could fight for my life."
The man looked up at Lu Yin. His eyes held resentment, but also helplessness. "If you just let me go, that would be one thing. I would still be able to find somewhere to hide out. But you said you would announce that you released me for the sake of my master. That would force me to go to the Ascendant Hall and see him. If I refused, countless people throughout the Spirit Nidus would criticize me, and I would be able to die without anyone caring. Third Boss, you really are ruthless."
Lu Yin shrugged. "It’s really not like that. I was just testing things out. I never released that announcement.
"If what you’re telling me is true, then why did you try to block Boundless? We should have meant nothing to you."
Yu Shan grew serious. "You do. Becoming a Seraph is another path forward.
"My master was able to kill my senior brother without consequences, but if my senior brother had become a Seraph, things would have been different. Becoming a Seraph changes things."
This was absolutely true.
"I tried to block Boundless for the same reason why I tried to improve my reputation and form as many connections as possible. It was all in hopes that, one day, I would be able to compete for the title of Seraph and that I would have fewer opponents and more allies at that time," Yu Shan said.
Lu Yin sneered. "Naive."
Yu Shan shrugged. "I know that when it comes to obtaining the title of Seraph, all relationships become meaningless. Still, I had no choice. All I could do was try my best.
"Later, when I was hanging above Boundless, I could finally sigh in relief." The man looked up at the tree he had hung from. "To be honest, the time I spent hanging up there was the most peaceful I’ve been since I learned of my senior brother's death because even my master has to be cautious in this place. While it was humiliating, I didn’t have to worry about dying."
Lu Yin looked at Yu Shan. "Are you really that afraid of death? You’re a sequence powerhouse. You must have faced death many times over the years."
