Chapter 2 - The Exploding Legend: A Chicken’s Sacrifice
Rubbing his temples, Kazuki sighed.
His voice rang out reluctantly. "Status..."
The air shimmered, and the translucent screen appeared again, flickering to life.

Kazuki glanced at the screen. It seemed his stats had improved slightly, and a new skill had appeared—though with a grade of D.
Hopefully, the skill's actually good.
He rubbed his head and focused on the skill, and its description shimmered to life before his eyes.
Exploding Chicken Summon: D
[Summons a single, mildly aggressive chicken that explodes upon impact. Its explosive force is weak, but it can distract or annoy enemies, causing minor damage in a small radius.]
[ Cooldown: 5 minutes.]
Kazuki stared at the skill description, his face blank with disbelief.
"Seriously? An exploding chicken?" He let out a groan. "Well, it is chaos, I guess."
He thought about trying the new skill but shook his head. "I shouldn't do it here."
His eyes wandered to the dead forest. Skeletal trees stood like silent sentinels, their branches expanding like a web—once caught, never to be seen again.
"Where should I go next?" Kazuki tilted his head, his eyes wandering.
"Surely not the forest, right?"
A sudden chime rang out, cutting through his thoughts.
Kazuki's gaze snapped to the screen.

Kazuki stared at the screen, his eyes narrowing. "Death, huh? This is starting to get old."
He focused harder, and suddenly, a flood of information slammed into his mind. The directions to the nearest settlement hit him like a wall of data. He staggered back, a sharp pain searing through his head.
It felt like he knew the directions in the back of his mind, as if he'd traveled them a thousand times over.
Kazuki mumbled, rubbing his temples. "That was... intense."
He moved, his footsteps crunching against the dry soil. He kept a few steps away from the tree, wary of its presence. Crickets chittered in the distance, their calls blending with the faint buzz of insects—a strange, uneasy silence settling over the forest.
Suddenly, he heard the rustling of leaves behind him. A chill crept down his spine as he cautiously turned around. In the darkness, a pair of eyes stared at him, glowing with an eerie light.
Kazumi jumped back and spoke hastily. "Who are you? Show yourself!"
The creature moved, emerging from behind the trees. Its form slowly took shape in the dim light. Saliva dripped from its grotesque mouth, and it wore only the barest scraps of linen, barely covering its body. In its hand, it gripped a crude wooden club, tightening its hold as it stared at Kazumi.
Kazuki gupled. Maybe I should run away...
Just as he about to turn his heel and run a sudden ring chimed in.
He groaned mentally. Not again

Kazuki stared at the mission window, his eye twitching.
Then, in the corner of the status screen, a small wink ;) appeared.
His face went blank. Did... did the system just mess with me?
He shook his head and focused back on the Orc.
So running away is out of the question.
Kazuki and the Orc locked eyes, the tension so thick he could probably cut it with a spoon. The slightest movement echoed in the silence. The Orc growled, muscles bulging like an overinflated balloon.
Its eyes flashed—then it lunged. The massive club swung upward, ready to crush him into an unrecognizable pancake.
Kazuki took a deep breath.
And...
He moonwalked.
Yes. A full, smooth, gravity-defying moonwalk.
The Orc froze mid-swing.
For a brief, magical moment, time itself seemed to pause as Kazuki effortlessly glided backward like a man born for the stage. His feet whispered across the dirt, defying all common sense, physics, and probably a few local deities.
The Orc's club smashed into the ground, missing him entirely. A deep, guttural grunt of confusion escaped its throat.
Kazuki smirked. Step one: complete.
Now he just had to figure out what the hell to do next.
A faint pulse of mana echoed in his hand as he prepared. The Orc, still utterly baffled, stared at him like a caveman trying to understand Wi-Fi.
Kazuki knew this was his moment.
With all the grace of a seasoned performer, he took a deep breath, puffed out his chest, and—
"CHICKEN ATTTTTAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK!!!"
His voice rang through the battlefield like an opera singer at a rock concert. Somewhere, a dramatic spotlight should have shone on him.
The Orc blinked.
Then blinked again.
Was this... some kind of war cry? A forbidden spell? A desperate plea for help?
It had no time to think further—because the chicken had arrived.
Kazuki's voice echoed through the battlefield like a divine proclamation.
The air trembled. The sky darkened. Somewhere in the distance, thunder rumbled—despite the fact that the weather had been perfectly fine a second ago.
Then, with a burst of golden light, it appeared.
A chicken.
But not just any chicken.
This was a legendary, battle-hardened, harbinger of destruction wrapped in feathers. Its beady eyes gleamed with the wisdom of a thousand wars, its scarred beak proof of countless victories. Every step it took sent tiny shockwaves through the ground.
And, clenched firmly in its beak...
A bomb.
Not a small one. Not a reasonable one. A comically oversized, cartoonish bomb, sizzling with a dangerously short fuse.
The Orc's expression shifted from confusion to mild terror.
The chicken flapped its wings once—just once—and the sheer force of it sent dust spiraling into the air. Its gaze locked onto its target like a homing missile, the fuse burning lower.
Kazuki pointed dramatically.
"Go, my feathered warrior! Fulfill your destiny!"
The chicken let out a single, mighty "BAWK!"—the sound of impending doom.
Then it charged.
Straight at the Orc.
Bomb in beak.
The chicken sprinted forward, a blur of feathers and pure, unhinged determination.
The Orc, to its credit, did what any reasonable being would do when faced with a chicken holding a bomb in its mouth—
It screamed.
But there was no escape. No mercy. No second chances.
With a final, dramatic leap, the chicken hurled itself at the Orc's face. Time seemed to slow as Kazuki watched, eyes wide, heart pounding. The moment the chicken made contact—
BOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A blinding explosion ripped through the battlefield, sending a shockwave of fire, smoke, and stray feathers in all directions. The ground trembled, birds took off in a panic, and somewhere, in the heavens above, a choir of celestial chickens clucked in approval.

Kazuki barely managed to shield his face from the force of the blast. When the dust finally settled, he hesitantly peeked out.
There, in the center of a smoldering crater, lay the Orc. Charred, twitching, and completely done with life. Its club was now a blackened stick. Its once-confident growl had been replaced by a weak, defeated whimper.
And as for the chicken?
Gone.
No trace left behind. No remains. Just an empty silence—the kind only left by true legends.
Kazuki exhaled, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"...What the hell did I just witness?"
