She Asks for a Divorce Again-Chapter 52 - Debate
Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Debate
Shen Heyu heard him and looked at him oddly, asking, “What do you mean by that?”
“I am Shen Jiangli. We went to the same middle school, and your homeroom teacher was my instructor. Do you remember?”
“Back then, I was very poor, but my parents insisted on sending me to a prestigious school to receive a better education. Many people always bullied me and extorted protection money from me at school; it was you who saved me. Because of that, your calf got injured.”
Shen Heyu’s memories were gradually pulled back to her youth as he spoke.
Her family’s condition was considered above average at that time, so attending a prestigious school wasn’t difficult.
She was very young when she was in school and always liked to help others, unlike now where people are indifferent.
...
She indeed had helped a little boy back then.
She recalled the young, skinny face from her memory which she couldn’t connect with the handsome and healthy face in front of her.

She exclaimed in surprise, “It’s actually you; you’ve changed so much. I don’t recognize you at all.”
Shen Jiangli smiled and said, “Later, my parents succeeded in their business and took me abroad. I haven’t seen you since then, but I have always remembered you.”
“Abroad, my dad wanted me to stay and take over, but I wanted to return to the country to find you, so I came back. Heaven rewards the diligent; it’s such a coincidence that I ran into you.”
Shen Heyu found it unbelievable, yet she didn’t know what to talk about. They didn’t have much of a past together, except for one thing, and it wasn’t possible to keep discussing that one thing.
So, she stopped talking.
Seeing her silence, Shen Jiangli sensed that she had changed a lot; though her face hadn’t changed much, her personality seemed completely different.
Both of them ate in silence, not noticing Bai Sheng’er walking past the restaurant.
During the meal, Shen Heyu’s phone rang. She picked it up and saw it was Pei Yansi calling.
She answered the call.
Pei Yansi’s voice was dissatisfied, “Where have you been messing around again?”
Shen Heyu replied, “I’m out eating.”
“With whom?”
Shen Heyu glanced at the man in front of her and, not knowing why she chose to lie, said, “Alone.”
After she said that, she heard Pei Yansi scoff.
Last night it was this man, and tonight she’s eating with him again; if he doesn’t say it, does she really not know to restrain herself?
He said coldly, “You have half an hour, get back home immediately. If I don’t see you in half an hour, you’ll be responsible for the consequences.”
After hanging up, he didn’t give Shen Heyu any chance to speak further.
She looked at her phone, which had gone dark, and frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Jiangli noticed something was off and, worried, put down his chopsticks.
Shen Heyu said, “I’m sorry, something urgent came up, I really have to go now.”
Seeing her stand up, Shen Jiangli also got up, grabbed the car keys beside him, and said, “I’ll take you back.”
“No need.”
Shen Heyu declined; she could tell Pei Yansi was very angry, and though she didn’t know why, if Pei Yansi saw Shen Jiangli—even if nothing was going on between her and him—the man would probably use it as an excuse to torment her.
She didn’t give Shen Jiangli a chance to object, walked to the company building, got into her car, and drove away.
She quickly arrived at the Pei Family’s old residence and parked her car before returning to the room she shared with Pei Yansi.
Entering the room, she saw Pei Yansi standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. He was looking at the vast night outside, and upon hearing her, he didn’t turn around or say a word.
It was as if he was waiting for her to initiate the conversation.
Shen Heyu walked up behind him and asked, “What’s the matter?”
It was then that Pei Yansi glanced sideways at her. Because they were close, he could even smell her scent.
It was the strong scent of food from a restaurant that was permeated with the smell of smoke and fireworks.
He gave a cold laugh and said, “Didn’t you say you were alone? Let’s see who this person is.”
He took out his phone and handed it to her.
Shen Heyu took it and saw a picture sent from an unknown number— it was of her dining with Shen Jiangli at the restaurant.
“Are you spying on me?” It was the only reason she could think of.
Upon hearing this, Pei Yansi pulled her over, threw her on the sofa, and then pressed down on her, saying in a deep voice, “Who do you think you are, that I need to waste manpower to spy on you? It was merely someone who happened to see and sent it to me.”
“What, are you panicking? Didn’t you say you were alone? Go on, tell me, is he a ghost?”
His large body heavily pressing down on her, Shen Heyu could hardly breathe, and she attempted to push him away saying, “I just threw up on him yesterday and invited him for a meal to apologize. I didn’t tell you because I thought you would definitely use it as an excuse to torment me.”
“Really?”
Pei Yansi clearly didn’t believe her.
“What else could it be? I’m already married, do you think I am like you, treating marriage as a child’s play, fooling around even though you have a wife, buying houses for mistresses?”
“Compared to you, I’m absolutely innocent.”
“And besides, it was just a meal and it was after work hours, must I not even have my own social circle?”
Shen Heyu ranted non-stop, anger at the fore, only caring about whether she felt relieved and not paying any attention to Pei Yansi’s reaction.
Pei Yansi’s face grew darker and graver as he listened to her, his chest filled with rage. He stared at her pretty-shaped mouth that was so capable of infuriating others.
To prevent her from saying anything that might make him explode, he reached out and pinched her chin, pinching her mouth so she couldn’t speak further.
He stared at her angry, daring-not-say-a-word face and scoffed, “You really are something.”
“Mmm…” Shen Heyu wanted to say something, but since her mouth was pinched shut, it sounded strange.
It was somewhat like a small wildcat, scratching at one’s heart repeatedly.
Pei Yansi’s body temperature rose from her sounds, but thinking about her being carried into a hotel room by that man, his heart burned with fury.
He abruptly let her go, grabbed his suit jacket from the side, and without any farewell, turned and left the room.
Not long after, left alone, Shen Heyu heard the sound of a car engine starting from downstairs and fading away.
Knowing his temper, Shen Heyu didn’t want to initiate further contact. Without him in the house, she actually felt a bit more relieved.
The next day when Shen Heyu went into the office, Pei Yansi’s assistant, Zhao Jin, came in with a contract, saying, “This is the latest collaborative project between the Shen Group and us. They have specifically requested your involvement.”
Shen Heyu took it and glanced over. The Shen Group was the one currently managed by Shen Jiangli. However, this was a branch office; according to him, his family had only succeeded in their business overseas after moving abroad, so the company’s base was abroad.
But how did Shen Jiangli know she worked here?
