Chapter 117: Chapter 117

- HAZEL -

Nothing beats having a nice meal. I have a towel wrapped around my head and I’m putting on a robe. The moment I finished bathing, hunger hit me hard and I couldn’t do anything else but head downstairs.

Killian didn’t bother to stop me considering he was just as hungry. Now we’re both sat in seats well tucked into the dining table. “What dish is this?” I ask without taking the food tray covers off.

“Something you might know.” Killian responds. He takes the napkin by the side of the covered food dish on the table and unfolds it. I avert my gaze from him back to the covered meal as curiosity eats me up. I know Killian is a good cook. Heck, I even know he’s good at almost everything, he does his things to perfection, I am a witness to that and I can fully testify but when it comes to something I’m going to put in my stomach, coupled by the fact that I can’t cook. . . Knowing the meal in question would be way more relieving.

I take the dome off. My face flattens. It’s pasta and meat. Shredded meat rises up at the center as the pasta is layered beneath it in an expertise setting. Small leaves are over the plate as well with some kind of sauce. This doesn’t look like the everyday pasta meal. “Nope, I don’t know.” I say, keeping my eyes pressed on the food in front of me. It scents good. I can feel my stomach roar with a newfound craving for this pasta.

“El gusto pasta with pulled pork, beef and mushrooms.” Killian says.

“Ouu, sounds fancy.” I mouth, wetting my lips with my tongue as I drool at the meal before me. I will devour this like my life depends on it, I already know.

“Tastes good too.” Killian adds.

I hold my fork with determination relying on his words. Killian always cooks good food. I wonder why he decided to make pasta but I love the thick, long, rectangular strands of pasta and the pork.

I dip my fork into my meal and twist it in, grabbing some beef and pasta. I dip it into my mouth. My face lights up immediately as the flavour graces my tongue. I chew quickly and feed myself to another fork.

Not just the presentation, but the food tastes great. It tastes so good. I’d say almost as good as sex but that’ll be a drag.

Killian was right! Now his cooking skills is something I can brag about with ease. I munch faster, filling my mouth with more pasta before the ones in my mouth completely runs out.

“Easy there, there’s more where that came from.” Killian alerts me, chuckling. I’m eating like this is the first meal to touch my tongue in months but can you blame me though? It tastes so fucking good, my God! Almost like the secret of awesome meals suddenly got revealed to me by the universe using this one man.

“Not when I’m done eating.” I say full mouthed. I will eat the left overs for sure. Killian just smiles at me and continues eating. How he looks so elegant amazes me. I mean, who on earth can comport themselves in front of good food? Not me, that’s for sure! I roll my eyes at him and nod my head with each mouthful. I can feel a smile creep at both ends of my lips. I’m sorry Kate, I love you but I will sell you for food if I have to then cry about the loss of my bestie while spending half the money I used to sell you on you. I swallow hard.

“This has to be the best Saturday yet.” I mumble, taking another fork.

He looks up at me. Killian chews carefully then swallows. He helps himself to a glass of wine. “Today’s not Saturday.” He finally utters, causing me to freeze.

I nearly choke on my meal. “What?”

“It’s Thursday.”

“Oh my God, Killian!” I breath, dropping my fork. “You made me miss a whole day of school.” I whine.

“I know and I’m sorry.” He places an object on the table and push it forward, handing it to me. I look down at my phone. “Here.” Killian says. I take my phone and turn it on. It’s fully charged. “I knew if I let you go you wouldn’t be happy. I decided to change that. I understand if you’re mad at me.”

I’m not mad. Even if I want to, I can’t be. He did this for me. Plus, I had way better time today than what I would’ve had in school if I went so actually, thank you. The meals I had today are bonus points for reasons why I cannot be mad.

“It’s fine. Thank you for making an already horrid day not so horrid for me.” I say to him with a smile. My eyes peers at my phone and my lips form into a line. Do I want to access the internet and check the school blog? I’m not sure.

I don’t think I want this perfect day to end with something making me anxious, I look up to face him, especially when someone special put in a lot of effort so I avoid that. I think there are some things even I don’t want to find out. At least, not yet. I pour myself some wine carefully in my wine glass. Killian flashes me a stare then averts his gaze. I drop the wine bottle then hold the glass in my hand, swirling the content in the glass carefully. I bring the rim below my chin and inhale. This scents so good. “To a perfect dinner.” I hold my wine glass up to him. Killian raises his half full glass and the gentle clink as our cups meet makes my tummy churn in a good way. I bring the cup to my mouth and swallow a chunk of wine. I nearly laugh once my tongue tastes it. It’s non alcoholic.

“Nicely played.” I say to him.

“You’re welcome.” Killian responds, swinging the hand accompanying his wine glass forward before taking a sip.

Today, I’ll let this slide but I don’t think this man will ever let me taste alcohol again. My gaze fixes on the well arranged dining table. I can’t thank him enough for how he treated me today. How does one show gratitude other than using the word ‘thank you’? How do I let this man know his actions really meant a lot to me?

“Hey!” A soft voice brings me back to earth. I look up at him. “Eat.” Killian orders.

Oh. I hold my fork again and dip it in my food. I owe him one for this and I will look for a way to repay.
