"No, it wasn’t like that. It was deep crimson, yes, but it didn’t have the purple hue you mentioned. It must have mutated further."

He was wondering if any of his other family members had awakened a superpower. When he woke up and realized that he could create fire, he knew that the apocalypse was real and he had to become stronger to protect his family.

Even though Leng Pan had been talking about the apocalypse for a while now, and he believed her, he had still hoped that it wouldn’t happen in this life.

The apocalypse was a concept that many would not accept if they could avoid it. It literally meant that the world was ending. Who would want to live in such a world? But now that it was unavoidable, he could only work hard to become stronger and be able to protect the woman he loved more than life itself, and his other family members.

He didn’t want a situation like the one Leng Pan had described to happen. He refused to be in a situation where he was so weak that he couldn’t protect her and die in front of her.

In the previous life, he might have taken a detour in learning how to use his superpower and how to improve because no one knew anything about it. But now with Leng Pan who had the memories of her past life, and firsthand experience, he could take a shortcut.

She was also reluctant to cut it because it was beautiful, and Lu Zhen loved it that way. After thinking about it, she had decided to keep it long. Unlike others, she didn’t have to worry about having no water to wash it.

She had bought enough shampoo and conditioner to last three lifetimes. She had also bought and collected a lot of water. Add the fact that she could produce water as a water-ability superpower, why did she have to worry about her hair being unmanageable because it was long?

When Lu Zhen saw his wife walking towards him with her ponytail jumping up and down, his Adam’s apple bobbed and he swallowed his saliva.

She looked divine, and all he wanted was to take her to bed and worship her. Having been celibate for over twenty five years, it was baffling how now after tasting the sweetness once, he couldn’t seem to control his urges.

Every time he looked at Leng Pan, he had to hold himself back from doing something that would embarrass both of them in front of others.

"Hubby, I am ready, let’s go." Leng Pan’s voice woke Lu Zhen up from his not so pure thoughts.

But the address of ’hubby’ coming out of her mouth made his urges almost surface. He made up his mind to come back here for some action once they were done with breakfast and today’s plans.

Pulling Leng Pan by the hand, Lu Zhen started walking towards the door.

Everyone else was already waiting when the two sat down on the dining table. Uncle Li had woken up early to make fresh bread, and pastries. He also boiled milk, made scrambled eggs, and squeezed fresh orange juice.

The table was laid with all types of foods making everyone hungry. As soon as Leng Pan and Lu Zhen sat down, Lu Zhen muttered for everyone to start eating.

The family didn’t have many rules, so they could talk while eating.

"The noise caused by the people conducting rescue operations and those crying for their loved ones hasn’t ceased the whole night.

When is it going to stop? I almost couldn’t sleep last night." Lu Tao started complaining and Lu Zhen and Leng Pan turned to look at him intently.

"Why are you looking at me like that? I am not being insensitive, it’s really too loud. My ears are about to go deaf." Lu Tao protested when he saw the look his brother and sister-in-law were giving him.

He thought that they wanted to criticize him for not sympathizing with those who had been befallen by yesterday’s disaster. So, he protested first to avoid being criticized.

However, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen had other thoughts about what he had just said. They looked at each other and they could see the confirmation in each other’s eyes.

It was obvious that their apartments were soundproof and even with so much noise outside, only a light sound could get through. Definitely not enough to disturb someone to the point of lacking sleep.

Then, there was only one reason Lu Tao could hear those people so clearly, he had awakened a support-type superpower. Super hearing.

He could hear even the lightest whisper from a mile away. Even though it’s termed as a support superpower, it was actually quite powerful. Once it’s developed to it’s peak, no conspiracy discussed could hide from him.

He could pick up whispers from miles away and learn about enemy plans before they take action.

"How clear can you hear them?" Leng Pan asked as she picked a pastry with her chopsticks and bit into it. It was not too sweet or oily. Uncle Li really knew how to make something that would cause someone to become addicted without endangering their health.
