Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 93: Greedy Man
Chapter 93: Greedy Man
Being in an abyss didn’t faze him.
With Nero on his shoulder and Snowshade at his side, Jung crossed nothingness and the paths it entailed with silly thoughts in his mind.
’My sidekicks and my losers are going to stuff my pockets.’
He even hopped around gracefully.
Recognizing that he had enough time to test Pill Curser, Jung summoned the item along with ordinary pills.
"What happened?" Snowshade asked curiously. "I heard commotions, and the principal didn’t look pleased."
"Nothing. She is just sulking because you’re coming with me and not her."
Jung answered and observed the small box in his hand.
Snowshade went quiet, but her eyes darted from him to the cat and finally to the object he was carrying.
It was an ordinary box with a tiny hole in it.
With enough space to fit one pill at a time, Jung wanted to experiment before he left the abyss and took them out of his inventory.
Until then, he changed his appearance, transforming into a Balatro identity.
Putting the pill in its designated place, he added a bit of persona to the mix, and two seconds later, the outcome was in his hands.
[Cursed Pill]
-A pill that can raise archetype progress for the time being, but has addictive properties. It is a curse that, once placed, can only be cured by continuous ingestion.
’This is not a cure, but a leash. The leash that will bind them to me,’ Jung said to himself, laughing his ass off.
Nero knew the reason for his abrupt excitement, but Snowshade looked confused by this change.
She wanted to pry and ask, but they reached the door.
"Finally," he said upon seeing the exit, and speed up.
He had a sinister look on his face, but his plan to scam the players was never this fruitful.
Thus, with a clear goal in his mind, he left the abyss and dashed to the city centre.
It was the place where most players gathered, and he could ask them to call his beloved HugeP.
Twenty long minutes later, he reached his destination.
The woman next to him didn’t question his decisions and followed him behind.
There were loud noises around, pure chaos born of players and people.
He didn’t immediately act; listening and feeling the atmosphere, he was overjoyed.
However, there was no time to waste, and he stopped the nearest player group, grinning at them as if displaying his face.
The party looked at him for a second until realization hit them.
"Wait, isn’t that the Balatro?"
"The one who single-handedly destroyed the Poker Bros guild?"
"No, he wasn’t alone. Look, there is his cat, the one who fought with him."
"Damn, their videos have been trending for days now."
All of them expressed their emotions, but after they spoke with their eyes and made a decision, they looked back at him.
"Do I have to wait for you guys?" Jung said. His asshole character was in place.
"Or should I go around and ask for someone else?"
He added with enough spice in his voice to make the listeners shudder.
"No, no, don’t go. I apologize for our rud—"
The explorer spoke, but Jung shushed him with his finger pointed at his lips.
"Straight to the point," he said calmly.
Understanding his position, the sage player spoke this time.
"HugeP is in this city, and he is waiting for you. I am going to post on the forums right this instant."
She didn’t mutter useless and annoying stuff and went to the point, the way Jung approved.
"Take good pictures with me so he will know you aren’t lying," he said.
Nodding, the girl did as she was told and posted announcements with his pics inside.
Jung even posed for a bit, standing in various postures to appear as cool as he thought he was.
Five minutes later, the response arrived, and the sage player said.
"He saw our post, and he is on his way. It shouldn’t take him more than ten minutes."
"Sure, no problem," Jung said softly, in a manner that was the opposite of his known personality.
"Sorry..." One of the players wanted to say something, and she raised her hand.
"Speak your mind, my friend. How can I help you?" he approved her wish, his previous demanding nature nowhere to be seen.
"I heard you’re collecting pills. Is it true?"
The player asked, and others listened attentively as well.
But they spoke in a low tone, not to gain attention from the surrounding players.
It seemed like they wanted Jung for themselves only, and guessing their reasoning, he wanted to play another game.
First, he winked at this party and then yelled,
"Players on me right this instant!"
His voice reverberated through the street, and it was loud enough to startle players and humans alike.
But only the former displayed interest, and after seeing the infamous Balatro, chaos erupted.
As a new wave of players surrounded him, Jung whispered to the previous party.
"Sorry, but I’m a man of greed. I believe in numbers but don’t worry, you’re the first ones in my line."
Then, without waiting for their reaction, he shouted even louder.
"I have a new batch of unique pills for sale. It’s expensive, but I believe it’s worth the price."
His words generated an even greater frenzy.
Balatro was known for his trading capabilities, but he had never sold anything noteworthy.
The quest was the main reason players flooded to him, and the few high-tier pills he sold were just a bonus that only a selected few lucked out with.
But now that he was promoting different pills for sale, everyone wanted a piece of the pie.
"I don’t want to say it twice, but be quiet, stay in line, and wait for your turn."
There were almost a hundred players around, and the number kept increasing.
They quickly realized that not everyone could make it, yet it wasn’t like they could do something about it.
Two players, one rebel and the jester, had problems with how things worked, but Jung and Nero quickly cut them down.
One whoosh sound later, the loud and cheeky players dropped dead to the ground, helping others not to act up.
"So," Jung started after getting back to his position. "This is my majestic pill. I’m exchanging it for 20 pills of the same tier."
Of course, he was talking about the cursed pill he made.
It cost him only one pill to make, but he was selling it for twenty times as much. freewёbnoνel.com
It could raise their progress by a tier, and on paper, it was a godly item.
But Jung knew its true properties, and he was going to use it as a leash to tame players.
He created quite a supply on the way to the city centre, and he knew it was going to crush the market.
"Before you ask me how it is different from normal pills, I have selected players to test them."
The players he mentioned were the party members who helped him get in contact with HugeP.
So, this was how he was going to pay them back...
By using them as his test subjects and feeding them cursed pills.
"It’s free of charge... Bon appetit!" he said, taking out the corresponding Tier IV pills and offering them with a wicked smile.
