Chapter 81: Bon Appetit

Nero meowed, hopped gracefully, and purred so happily that Jung felt it on his skin.

Jung’s request made her happy. She could finally leave this stuffy place, devour the pills, and eventually break herself from the curse of the ruler god.

All of this became possible because of Jung.

Meeting him was the greatest event she had ever experienced, and she was grateful for that.

As for the man in question, he watched the cat like a proud dad.

’She is so cute. I want to pet her,’ Jung thought, strolling the building with Snowshade.

He had one more request. This time, it was for the woman.

His wish wasn’t outrageous.

Just killing the players for some time was enough for him, and he asked Snowshade to send her people for this job.

It took him a couple of tries, but by the time they left the building, she agreed.

Then they had to locate Nero with the corpse she might leave behind.

[Why are you making her do that?] the system asked in a frigid tone.

"What are you talking about? Didn’t you see her face? She was so pleased."

Jung chuckled, liking the fact that he and Nero resembled each other.

[I fear you have an awful influence on her.] Vex cared for Nero and hated the idea of her becoming like Jung.

Unfortunately, it was too late, but in Jung’s honest opinion, Nero always enjoyed slaughtering players.

Shaking his head, he whispered, "You don’t get her as much as I do."

Before the system found an opening, Jung found the tracks he was searching for.

Of course, the small, bloody paw marks belonged to the cat, and locating her didn’t create a challenge.

However, screaming came from her direction.

’It’s not Nero,’ Jung thought, speeding up.

[Quest VI Completed.]

[I will give you the item after Nero gets her power back.]

"Stop giving me blue balls." Jung retorted and shook his head in annoyance.

Arriving at the destination, he saw a corpse. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

On this lifeless body, the cat sat, acting all cute.

The screams came from the onlookers, who saw how the killing took place, and wailed in fright.

"See? I told you," Jung said to Vex after seeing how nonchalantly Nero waited for his arrival.

It was yet another occasion when the system wanted to have palms so she could slap Jung to death.

Luckily for him, she was out of hands, and Nero looked happy as she held out for him.

The poor guild leader lay on the ground. His pills and flesh became part of him, supporting his pockets and power.

"Now we are going back to the academy, right?" Nero asked.

As much as Jung wanted to meet players and scam more pills for his experiments, he didn’t want to break his promise and sadden the cat.

"Sure thing," he said, letting Nero hop on his shoulder.

"Hurray," she repeated it twice.

Seeing her wholesome reaction, Jung felt happiness radiated from her breathing.

After reaching the Arcane Tower, Snowshade summoned the door.

The abyss stood unchanged.

No time, no power could alter its nothingness, and the path to the second door passed with Nero meowing in Jung’s face.

He and the woman had a lot to discuss, but Jung was annoyingly good at giving her blue balls and not letting her dictate their conversation.

Snowshade read the room.

She could tell he was constantly in a hurry.

Although Jung’s personality and hobbies were questionable, his intent to fight for a good cause appeared genuine.

Adding the potential he and his tamed beast displayed, it was hard to argue against him.

The Messiah had ways to protect, though he hid most of his cards.

Leaving the abyss, Jung promised Snowshade to visit her and the principal shortly. "Your office is my favourite chilling room. I am going to hang out there more frequently."

With his childish appearance back, as they climbed the stairs, and reached the dorms, Jung asked.

"On a scale of one to ten, how excited are you?"

It was an honest question, letting the cat speak about her feelings.

The response he got crumbled his expectations. "Your smooth brain couldn’t come up with a better opening line?"

She asked with a mean tone, completely forgetting her gratefulness.

"I see. So that’s how it is," Jung said knowingly. "She told you to act that way, right?"

Nero used the silence as she walked through the bedroom.

Jung guessed it was Vex’s instructions to be this harsh.

Yet, he wasn’t in the same league. He knew how to play, but he was calm for his adorable and clueless friend.

No one said anything about him keeping his mouth shut, though. "And you are telling me I am the bad influence?"

In Jung’s unbiased and constantly correct opinion, it was unfair of the system to act that way, so he demanded answers in an old, civil fashion.

[Shut up,] Vex said, pouting.

Glancing at the imaginary camera, Jung almost asked if it saw the same shit.

But as a novice Messiah, he took it as his responsibility to forgive these sinners and be a better man.

He sighed, his face dropped on his bed to hide his malicious expression.

Nero sat next to him soon after, waiting for the pills.

Not stretching the time, Jung corrected his posture.

Looking around the tiny chamber and the lightless scenery, he promptly scrutinized the cat.

As he reached his inventory to take almost 20,000 pills in batches, he pointed at his lap.

"Come here. I want to feel your fluffiness. Who knows what you would do after unfreezing your skills and tier?" Jung spoke gently.

Nero noticed this gloomy atmosphere.

Jung’s eyes and brows were lowered, his lips quivered, and his hands trembled.

No matter how you looked, he was saddened or afraid that Nero might leave.

However, she knew him better than that. There was no world where he would act this way, and his stained reputation didn’t help either.

But she wanted to find out what Jung was plotting.

Lying on his lap and letting him fondle her smooth fur, she said nothing.

"Here you go. This is your dinner for the night."

Jung said in his hidden emotions, taking out hundreds of pills for Nero to devour.

Only after seeing the amount and his non-stop hand movements did the cat realize her situation.

It was too late, and it wasn’t like she could complain, but Jung’s expressionless face rubbed her the wrong way.

"Bon appetit!" he added, still not showing his sincere intent.
