Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 79: Potential
Chapter 79: Potential
As the head rolled to his feet and mist drifted to Jung, the familiar sound rang in his head, belonging to the system and forging a new quest.
[Ding!]
<Quest VI: Make player DiEBlue and player RichChips submit to your offer.
<Rewards: Special Item. [You will love it.]
"I am interested. Don’t spoil it, though," Jung said, and noted how bland naming sense these two players had.
’No one can beat my HugeP,’ he thought and summoned the entire system panel, thinking it was ages since he last saw it.
««Archetype System V6.0»»
<Name: Jung (Balatro)
<Archetypes: [Rebel] [Hero] [Wizard] [Keeper] [Explorer]
<Archetype Tier: VI
<Archetype Progress: 48%
<Arcs: [Shifting Cloud]; [Heroic Barrier]; [White Beard]; [Keeping Mask]
<Archetype Monsters In Your Care: Nero the Shadowpaw
<Quest I: Save Elara and bring her back.
<Quest II: Slay the Ruler god, help Nero unite with her beloved family, and save cats from going extinct across the universe.
<Quest III: Create your personal, completely new archetype.
<Quest IV: Torture and eliminate Walt
<Quest V: Slaughter 10,000 players.
<Quest VI: Make player DiEBlue and player RichChips submit to your offer.
The reward tab was too long for him to waste time on, and he simply shooed it away. There were more numbers to check, but Jung had some grumbling to do.
"Reading the status window would become extremely delightful with the attribute panel. Poor me, I don’t even have stats to look at."
His sad voice reached Vex’s ears—if she had one.
[Your brain is already full of shit. There is no need to add more to it.]
She was set on her opinion, refusing to make Jung’s wish come true.
"No!" Jung spat and stomped his foot angrily.
He threw a fit like a child whose parents refused to buy the treats.
One smack from Nero proved to be sufficient to correct his attitude.
"Stop whining!" she said and returned to her spot.
As for Jung, he found great pleasure in teasing Nero and the system.
Tormenting them just to make Nero angry was one of his greatest amusements.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy to aggravate Vex, but at least he had to try, and even the petty annoyance brought a smile to his face.
He spent some time brawling with girls while checking Shifting Cloud and quest progress simultaneously.
<Shifting Cloud Stage: 1/5
Progress: 55%
"Damn, it’s slowed down," Jung exclaimed.
He wanted to raise it to the next stage, but actually doing so proved to be difficult.
Then he glanced at the quest counter.
<Quest V: Slaughter 10,000 players.
<Rewards: Information on how to better use lower-tier pills.
<Optional Bonus: For every 1000 players you kill, you get extra Tier VI pills.
Progress: 9814/10000
It was lower than it should have been. "Some of those losers didn’t come back," Jung concluded.
It was a good strategy.
If they just waited for Jung to leave the building and then spawned, it could potentially save their accounts.
And the more time went on, more of them would try this approach.
Sadly for them, Jung wouldn’t leave that easily, and he was set on completing his missions using a counterplan of his own.
Still, it could wait for at least a couple of other exterminations, and Nero should have enough pills for her awaited cure-lifting ritual.
"You are going to wait again?" Snowshade asked as she halted her conversation with Lola.
"Yep. We aren’t done yet. Why? Are you bored already?" Jung said, acting confused.
"I have to go," Lola answered instead of the woman. "I have things to do on the other side. But everything is recorded, and I will ask my friends to help me edit it."
"No problem. Your help is greatly appreciated. We are going to meet again when HugeP arrives," Jung told her with gratitude.
With this conversation done, Lola left with her doggo, leaving Jung, Nero, and Snowshade in the room.
The latter asked, "What’s your true purpose of coming here? I doubt it’s because of the shady business they were doing. And how do you befriend immortals?"
"Easy there, baby girl. One question at a time, please," Jung teased, but at least he was in his adult appearance.
"We are here to help this sweetheart," he said, mentioning Nero, and continued.
"As for these losers you are calling immortals, you could say my ultimate goal is to tame all of them to aid us in protecting this world."
Snowshade’s brows lowered. Jung rarely talked about his plans on how to protect Maskera.
It was somewhat understandable.
He was just a kid, even if he didn’t act like one.
But after hearing his sound goal that might actually help the world, the woman looked at him with curious eyes.
However, what Jung meant by taming players and what she thought were as different as the sky and the ground.
Jung called players sidekicks for a reason.
He wanted to tame them the same way Lola tamed her dogoo.
Even if there were no special system panels for it, Jung was confident he could control them and become the ultimate player tamer.
It was planned for the future, but not that far ahead, either.
Before that, he had to wait for Poker Bros guild members to spawn and kill them steadily.
Soon the waiting time was over, and the same situation repeated itself.
Nero and Jung butchered players and the entire situation became boring to them.
Jung wanted new challenges.
Now, players were too weak to pose any real threat to him, and just bullying them didn’t give enough dopamine to keep him motivated.
The cat was in an even worse predicament.
She barely cared about the violence because of the desire to devour the pills.
As for the Snowshade, she made a discovery about Jung.
It seemed like he improved at an alarming rate.
But he didn’t consume pills.
She was sure of that. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Yet, how come Jung was getting fiercer by the second?
She noticed it at the beginning of his battles but thought nothing of it and blamed it on Jung holding himself back.
Two rounds of player eliminations later, his skills didn’t change, but the way his body moved, the speed of his foresight, and almost every other aspect were noticeable beyond what it was only hours ago.
The mist might have been the cause, but Snowshade wasn’t convinced.
With no other options, she disregarded them while the new waves of players arrived, until Jung’s sudden scream startled her.
