Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 66: Meeting The Chosen One
Chapter 66: Meeting The Chosen One
Biting her tongue, Leora didn’t even try to deny Jung’s assumption, confirming his guess. She was scared, hurt, and confused.
Not knowing how to act, she waited for her death.
Jung stood above her.
He was proud and cocky, showering the girl with a taste of despair, he said, "I knew it. No one in their right mind would wear the costumes he is putting on."
"My brother..." Leora stated.
She finally collected her thoughts and displayed conviction. "His is unique. He is someone who will save this world, and he won’t spare you."
Shaking his head, Jung wanted to laugh at her stupidity.
Leora still thought that she was acting for the greater good, while in truth, behind Walt stood the god who didn’t have humanity’s well-being in mind. freewёbnoνel.com
The twins were fooled, and being chosen from Archeons didn’t protect Astra from the god.
’This is weird,’ Jung thought about the world. ’Gods, Archeons, Fracture, players, and me...’
Strange events filled Maskera, but at least Jung was entertained, and he was getting closer to finding Elara.
He said nothing to the girl.
Why would he, when she was going to die by his hands?
Just as Jung drew his axe for her clean execution, Vex whispered in his ear.
[Don’t... She will become a great asset to you.]
Hearing the system’s advice, Jung couldn’t help but ask, "What do you mean, and how do you know?"
[Just trust me,] Vex said, persuading him.
As a matter of fact, Jung didn’t like the situation.
Even though Leora was a bratty child he wanted to slay, there were no hard feelings inside him.
Yes, she was annoying and had a terrible attitude, but Jung was long past the point when such a thing would truly make him angry.
"Trust, huh?" he repeated.
Then his axe dissolved and left the real world, transforming into the energy, joining his body.
After that, he left Leora alone without saying a single word to her.
Stunned, the girl opened her mouth in protest, uttering other empty threats.
But not a single syllable escaped from her lips as Nero smacked her on the back of her head, darkening her vision completely.
As the cat followed the boy, who was devouring the dead teacher’s body, she asked. "Are you going to leave her here?"
"Why?" Jung smirked. "Are you sympathetic towards her?"
Nero snorted loudly. "Why would I? Let her rot like I care."
With activated Shifting Cloud and enough time on his hands, Jung checked all of his counters to see how the numbers had changed.
<Shifting Cloud Stage: 1/5
Progress: 32%
After killing countless monsters and absorbing their corpses, this was the result Jung got.
It wasn’t as low as he expected; his vision improved even further, and each transformation made him tougher, taking his capabilities to greater heights.
Happy with the outcome, Jung peeked at another number, bringing joy to his face.
[Truth Lantern] Tier I
Progress: 469/1000
It was his kill tracker, showing how many monsters and humans he had slain.
Jung, with Nero’s help, butchered a total of 468 goblins, and the last one was Gwen—the only human he had killed in this world, as players didn’t count.
’I am getting closer,’ he thought and reached for the pills he had collected.
A huge amount of them filled his inventory, and only 104 of them were rebels, but after unleashing the explorer archetype, Jung could swallow another 160 pills to increase his overall strength.
Yet, after seeing how much work and time they would demand, he decided to do it after taking care of the Chosen One.
"He is probably chasing Ronan and Mira," he said, hurrying to find them.
Leaving the cave halls, Jung encountered dead goblins.
It wasn’t his doing, so he had to leave them.
He strolled some more and saw a blob of flesh, probably belonging to Barni.
The boy’s death was avenged, and Jung left the cave without stopping.
Only after two minutes of walking did he see Mira, clutching her knees as she hid between the trees.
Unfortunately, the sounds of her quick breathing gave her location away, and Jung found her.
"What are you doing?" he asked the girl and kneeled before her.
Hearing his soft voice, Mira flinched, but seeing a familiar face, she smiled weakly and exclaimed, "Jung! You really came..."
Taking her time to collect her thoughts, she added, "They were after you. How did you manage to escape from them?"
"Doesn’t matter," Jung cut her words urgently. "Tell me, where are Astra and Ronan?"
Understanding the extent of the crisis, Mira answered right away. "Ronan told me to wait for you. He left, and Astra went after him. Do you know what’s going on?"
Jung nodded, stood up, and said, "You will understand soon enough, but go inside the cave and wait for help. I am going to see the boys."
"Ohh... Okay..." Mira said, bothered by the fact of being alone once again.
"Stay safe!" she called, and disappeared, controlling the sounds she made.
As for Jung, he quickened his steps, hoping to meet them before something major happened.
Another five minutes was sufficient for him to trace them down, and catching muffled words, he went straight for them.
"Why aren’t you talking back?" The voices became clear when Jung neared their position.
It belonged to Astra, and he was angry, hitting Ronan in various places.
But no matter where the younger boy struck, Ronan never flinched or even fought back, as if he wasn’t afraid yet still didn’t dare to touch his half-brother.
However, Jung knew his capabilities firsthand.
He had fought against Ronan before and understood that if he wanted to, he could easily beat the shit out of Astra.
"I guess I have to kill you right here," Astra spoke again, his voice full of hatred and malice.
"How does it feel to die when you could never defy me? Ruler? What a joke," he spat and took out a small knife, intending to stab him.
Ronan didn’t act this time, either.
He just closed his eyes and waited for his death.
Even when a single tear dropped onto his cheeks, he felt no desire to retaliate, and the only thing he could do was abandon his life.
’What a fucking dumbass.’ Jung thought and showed himself.
His appearance instantly stunned onlookers, especially Astra, as the boy knew the plans. "What are you doing here? Where are my sister and Gwen?" he asked, still holding a knife.
"I don’t know. I’ve not met them," Jung lied through his teeth.
"But the end is here. You are going to die, and I hope you didn’t forget my warnings and practised your last words for this occasion."
