Chapter 46: Arcs

"These readings can’t be real," Snowshade exclaimed and glanced at Jung.

"You are a rebel, right?" she asked because that’s what Jung had told her.

Raising his eyebrows, Jung nodded. "I am. Is there any problem?"

He was interested in his results but could only see the highlighted numbers and couldn’t understand what they meant.

"No," the woman answered, still thinking to herself.

"It’s just unbelievable. According to the data, you are the pinnacle of the rebel archetype, and it’s based on your acting," she said, sighing.

Snowshade had never seen something like this.

It shouldn’t even be possible.

If archetypes didn’t need pills to harvest energy to transform into persona power and could instead gain it by living as a specific archetype, Jung would already be at least Tier XII.

His talent in this aspect was astonishing.

As if his entire personality and identity were merged with archetype.

Of course, it came from one of Jung’s previous lives.

Being a rebel after a ruler was purely coincidental in his chosen principle.

He had lived on a dark continent filled with droughts and poverty while the people in power refused to do anything to change that.

Moreover, it was their greed that weakened the world and birthed countless evil deeds that even ordinary people committed.

Jung had to change it, and he tried to do so by rebelling against the society.

His main goal was the greatest rebellion—overthrowing the world government.

He didn’t want the power to rule; he had already done that.

All he needed was to challenge authority and thrive in chaotic situations.

Even though he managed to gain a huge amount of followers, Jung was betrayed and died long before he could carry out his plans.

Not knowing how the world fared without him, Jung rarely thought of those days.

But the experience still lingered in his being, and the data proved that there was no bottleneck in his path.

He only required resources, and reaching the last tier would be effortless.

After that, Snowshade yapped about Jung’s uniqueness and what the numbers indicated.

Jung’s current Tier IV status, especially for his age, was another groundbreaking discovery for the woman, and based on the way she spoke, it was clear she was convinced that the Archeons had chosen Jung.

Then again, Fatigue was catching up to him.

All he wanted was to sleep and check the system notification in peace.

Not minding the unending chatter from the woman, Jung opened the status window and inspected his quest completion.

[You passed the first two trials.]

[Quest V completed.]

[You unleashed Wizard Archetype.]

[You get the corresponding Arc.]

[You get one more Arc for Hero Archetype.]

[Check your status!]

Jung’s heartbeat quickened in excitement, but he did a pretty good job of masking his emotions and didn’t display any of it to the woman.

The new archetype with two new arcs was a delight to Jung’s eyes.

They made him happy and eager, yielding another wish to check his new abilities.

<Heroic Barrier

-Expanding persona energy, you can create barriers.

Jung knew this arc fairly well.

It was his skill when he got the hero archetype.

Unfortunately, he never got the chance to use it because of the Archeons who meddled in his affair and fought against the system, resulting in her losing this ability.

However, it found its way to Jung and would prove how useful it could be.

’There is no progression tab for it,’ he noticed and got the answer from the system.

[Progressions are for your Keeper Archetype. It means that only special Arcs, belonging to you, would have that feature.]

Vex was kind enough to explain, but Nero was too lazy to speak.

Just as Jung was about to examine the White Beard Arc, Snowshade whispered in his ear, "You aren’t listening to me."

She didn’t sound too angry; understanding was evident in her voice. "You must be tired; we can talk later."

The entire day went by after Jung reached the city.

As if it wasn’t enough, he stayed up all night, running from the monsters, and when he tried to ask about the monsters and the hidden trial, his voice was hushed.

’What’s going on?’ Jung wondered.

His words were silenced as if he couldn’t just ask that question.

All the subsequent attempts were met with the same outcome, and he kept losing his voice until Nero and Vex explained to him.

"I felt a familiar presence," Nero said, her voice trembling in anger. "It’s connected to the god."

Meanwhile, the system delivered the message.

[Know your place, puny human.] Her voice became hoarse but soon went back to normal. [Nero is right; the god you offended sent you this message.]

"Which means the monsters we fought were his doing."

However, there was another concerning factor. "But why would other people act that way? Can gods influence humans to this extent?"

God was secretive about his actions, but this wasn’t something worth worrying about.

Clearing his thoughts, Jung followed Snowshade and left the hall as the woman showed him the way to his room.

"Newcomers are already asleep; all of them took three trials, but there is no need for you to take the last one."

She didn’t explain more than that.

Leading Jung to the room, she climbed four floors of stairs, exploring the inner parts of the academy even more, but the boy didn’t even look around, acting like he didn’t even care.

Truth be told, Jung didn’t give a single fuck about enjoying the view or the architecture.

After arriving in the room and bidding farewell to Snowshade, he went straight to bed without observing his chamber.

But before he drifted to sleep, he wanted to see the second Arc, which was even more intriguing because it belonged to the wizard archetype.
